Went in for a routine visit. The cleaning was not very thorough, barely touched the surface of each tooth. It was the most superficial cleaning job I've ever experienced. Towards the end, Dr. Malik pushed for me to fix a naturally-occurring aesthetic mark on one tooth (I've had it as long as my adult teeth) while I was still in the chair, but I declined since it hasn't bothered me in 20+ years and it was my first visit to a new dentist. When I went up to the front at the end of my visit, I learned the aesthetic procedure that Dr. Malik was pushing for me to complete would have cost $500 - which wasn't disclosed to me up front while I was in the chair. Doesn't seem very ethical to push for an unnecessary service, especially without disclosing the cost up-front. Glad I trusted my gut, will not be going back here! read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Malik yesterday and have to say I was very impressed with the service. From the receptionist, to the dental assistant, to Dr. Malik herself, everyone was polite, gentle and accommodating. My appointment was for a routine dental exam, cleaning and x-rays. I did not have any major issues with my teeth at the time of my visit (or afterwards). I arrived about 5 minutes before my late afternoon appointment, and was expecting to have to wait a while since it was towards the end of the day. I only waited about two minutes before being called back. That was a nice surprise. They have their new patient paperwork on their website, so I completed it before arriving. They have refrigerated bottled water and Keurig coffee in the lobby which was a nice touch. The office itself is a bit on the older side, but overall everything was tidy and neat. The equipment was clean and modern. I had my x-rays taken by the dental assistant. I am not a fan of getting dental x-rays done, but she was extremely gentle. The lead apron she put on me had a thyroid shield which was important to me. After the assistant was done she told me the dentist would be in, and I was again expecting to wait a while to see the dentist. That was not the case. In just a few minutes, Dr. Malik was in to see me. Dr. Malik introduced herself, shook my hand, and overall had great bedside manners. She walked me through what she would be doing and communicated with me throughout the process. Dr. Malik periodically checked with me to make sure I was doing okay, which I greatly appreciated. She was gentle during the exam and did a great job of cleaning my teeth. I am happy to have found a great dentist and will definitely be back. Side note: My appointment was on a Monday, so I don't believe the hours on Yelp are currently correct. Call the office to see what days they are open. read more

I've been recommending this dentist to everyone I know around this area. Like many, I've always dreaded going to the dentist. I also have a very low tolerance to pain. Dr. Malik is the most kind, gentle, considerate, professional, thorough, and talented dentist I've been treated by or even heard of. I've been examined by another dentist and my verdict was several cavities that must be treated immediately, a root canal or possible tooth extraction and implant, and 2 other extractions (wisdom tooth). Dr. Malik examined me and I received the most gentle root canal treatment, and scheduled me to get a couple cavity fillings (not several like the other dentist). She let me know that the others were as small as a dot and with proper flossing and use of mouthwash, they'd most likely be fine. The cost estimate from the other dentist, even with insurance, was absurd that I checked with two other dental offices, which they agreed was too expensive. Ms. Judy at Ivory Smiles made the entire process so easy. She communicated with my insurance promptly, found the best solution for me to work around the best method of payment, and walked me through the entire process thoroughly. I'm surprised at the other reviews about this place trying to charge as much as they can, because two other friends and I received the complete opposite service - timely, considerate, and working to charge as less as they can. read more

I've been going to Dr. Malik for over a year now and couldn't be happier! She is gentle yet very thorough. I had a my wisdom teeth extracted with just local anesthesia. Throughout my procedure, Dr. Malik and her staff made me feel comfortable, at ease and pain-free! My recovery was swift with no issues. I received multiple follow-up calls to make sure I was doing OK. It's so nice to go to a place where you aren't just another patient. I moved here recently and was looking for a new dentist. Since Dr. Malik was on the provider list and her yelp reviews were good I chose her. The appointment was for a cleaning, exam and X-rays. When I arrived I filled out the necessary paperwork and was called into the exam room by an assistant who told me she is still coughing following the flu she had last week. I asked if we could do the X-rays after my cleaning as I had only an hour before my next appointment. Dr. Malik came in and did a dental exam. She told me that I needed a deep scaling (which I have had in the past) and that I didn't need a regular teeth cleaning. I told her that I would come back for the longer cleaning but I wanted the regular cleaning now. She repeatedly said I didn't need it and after several minutes of arguing I left the office very disappointed and not getting the service I made the appointment for. I will never go back to her again. The whole experience was terrible. read more

I was experiencing the worst toothache of my life, and Dr. Malik and her staff accommodated me that same morning. They went out of her way to calm my stress and make me comfortable. Dr. Malik quickly determined that I needed a root canal, which was accomplished immediately without any pain at all. She explained all the procedures as she went, checking with me constantly about my pain and comfort. New year insurance company shenanigans caused hours of investigation by Judy the office manager, who explained her compiled results thoroughly to me at the end of the appointment. Top notch professionalism. Works on the things you want to work on, without letting the important things slide. Great sense of humor, the whole staff! Judy has obviously run a dental office. She is smart, quick, and has incredible follow-up with the texting feature and messaging. I have followed her instructions and my last appointment showed no cavities. No unnecessary work! She checks my gum health, previous work, and she doesn't make me feel guilty! I find some dentists use this technique, and I really don't like it, it makes the whole experience of going to the dentist unpleasant. I feel good when I leave. She immediately puts the hydrating jelly on my lips and around my mouth, has the water at a tepid temperature and gives me sanitized dark glasses to wear to protect my eyes from the bright light which I really appreciate. She and Judy help me make dental decisions that fit my insurance needs, as well as my budget, and the urgency of the situation. I've learned over the years that my mouth is small and Dr. Malik's long thin strong fingers make it easier to reach my back teeth and gums. I have written a prior review on this office providing a single star because the dental service was OK. However today I'm writing this review and providing a single star because it's not possible to write one with NO STARs. I was scheduled for a cleaning on a day they experienced an electrical outage and they were not able to get to work on time for my appointment although I was able to be there on time. After waiting 15 minutes I decided to have my appointment rescheduled. That was 0n 17 November, the appointment was never rescheduled, I wrote a review stating my dissatisfaction with the inability to meet the schedule they established and the failure to reschedule the appointment. They responded to the review but still did NOT schdule an appointment. I called yesterday, they failed to return the call, I called again today and was informed that they would NO LONGER BE PROVIDING SERVICE. I guess if you have a client who is dissatisfied the best option is to eliminate that client. Thank you, your service in this instance is much worst than I expected. I would NOT RECOMMEND this dental office. read more
