A friend told me about this little…read moresalon tucked away in a strip mall, and when I first saw it, I was like "Hmmm, I don't know...". It's not a fancy salon, no bells and whistles. I had been going to these "highfalutin" spas where they have lockers, cucumber water, pretentious décor and charge you and arm and a leg for a hairstyle. So, when I walked into this this simple space, with a vending machine and kind of funky vibe I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, the old adage "don't judge a book by it cover" certainly applies here! My stylist, Cristian, was super! He said the owner, Maribel, is Dominican, and he's from El Salvador. I loved the Latin music playing in the background and the warm but laid back atmosphere here. Then he went to work! Best shampoo I've ever had! While he have my locks a shearing, we talked and laughed like old friends. He used some unique techniques to give my hair lots of layers and volume! So when he was done, I felt exuberant! It was the most fresh cut I have had in 10 years. Those expensive showy salons left me feeling flat, but when I left Maribel's, I felt bouncy and elated. Cristian, where have you been all my life!? I bought some products, but no elaborate showcase here. My cut and products were less than I paid at other salons. I must say, I'm thankful for the friend that referred me! And I hope I've found my stylist for life! Side note, I'm no spring chicken, but when I went out to lunch right after my appointment, I got tons of compliments on my mane, one lady said I looked like a teenager! Haha!! Hey I'll take it!!

After I booked and paid for an appointment online with Ms. Gordon, she arrived at the salon too late to do my hair before I had to leave for another commitment. She immediately blamed me for making the appointment one day in advance rather than two, and then suggested I book another appointment and she would "honor" the payment I had already made. I declined her offer.

The salon is in an intimate suite located inside Salon Plaza Fountain Square. She not only delivers healthy hair, recommending timely cuts and services, but also educates you on the products she is using (which are also available for purchase onsite), why they are beneficial to your hair, and also how to care for and maintain your hair for salon quality results at home/in between appointments. She utilizes online booking for appointments, which not only is convenient, but also allows you to track your services overtime and lists all pricing, which is payable by cash or credit onsite. Her work has also been featured in a few hair magazines. I am always pleased with my hair and receive compliments on how healthy it looks.
