Oh, how I love thee, IV Guns. You sold me Betty, my pretty, pretty .308. God knows I love my bolt action babies.
I'd been to the gun show last winter and decided I wanted a bolt action .308. I can't explain it but what Mama wants, Mama gets, particularly when Mama is paying. Therefore, I was very excited when I saw that Cave Junction had a full fledged gun store. Maybe this would mean I don't have to make trips all the way to Grants Pass to buy ammo to feed Precious - so I hoped. There wasn't any .303 British ammo available in CJ which was was a pain in the butt.
Soooo, I came in to shoot the breeze and see what was in stock and to ask about my ammo. There was a nice selection of hand guns, a whole bunch of rifles, some shot guns, and an excellent mix of used and new fire arms. There is also a wide assortment of new and used holsters, targets, ear protection, eye protection, etc etc. I asked if he had my ammo in stock. He didn't but he ordered some for me. We're off to a good start, except some drool I got on the gun case.
When I came in the next week to pick up my blammunition I mentioned I had a special desire for a .308 bolt action rifle. He pointed to one of the rifles on his rack. I picked it up, sighted in on the sign in his store and it was love at first touch. I was prevaricating - should I buy the rifle or not??? Funds were a bit tight. I left and told him I had to think about it for a bit.
I came in later that week to visit Betty. If you're not a gun person, you think I am nuts right now. If you like guns you are probably nodding in understanding. With me I had a half box of Corbon premium 9mm HP bullets and a box of some Federal 9mm ammo, unopened since he'd told me that he would buy boxed ammo for resale. I don't have a 9mm anymore so why keep the ammo around, right? Well, not only did he give me face value for the ammo, he took Betty off the shelf and put her in the safe. He accepted a $16.99 box of ammo as a down payment for a rifle. How cool, how very small town America is that? I was surprised and very happy by this turn of events. About a month later I walked out, the proud owner of Ms. Betty.
Later on, after I saw a bear while out hiking I managed to sweet talk my Dad out of a .357 just in case so I came here and bought a $100.00 leather paddle holster (used) for $25.00.
Five stars for awesome service, for the friendly chitchat, for all the freebies and goodies that Graham gives me, and for letting people buy guns on layaway. Credit is also given for fulfilling a need for the citizens of Cave Junction. I have this shop's number programmed in my cell phone and I have their sticker on my truck. I love this place.
