There are paintings, photos, soaps, candles, wood items, jewelry, ceramics, glass items, etc. All items were made by artists in the region and seem to be affordably priced (especially compared to many of the galleries I've been to.) What the shop is interested is in giving the customer an experience, not just selling you an item. They can't out "Amazon" Amazon. But they can provide you a creative experience that Amazon can't. If we had more time, I think my wife and I might have taken a shot at making something. The volunteers (the artists themselves) are always friendly and helpful should you need assistance. In the summer it is cool inside and always sparkling clean. The art was reasonably priced/affordable for many homes. My only wish is that the space was a little larger so that each piece could be displayed with its own space, not quite so closely arranged. She was very friendly and nice to chat with, and her husband make many pieces of earrings, necklaces, and other types of jewelry from various sizes of copper. His work is done thru a magnifying glass as it is very intricate with tiny details that look too small to have been created by hand. There are many small pieces of art as well as very large mantle pieces that would fill a tall wall above a large fireplace. This is a cool little gem of a store that anyone coming to downtown Shelbyville on public square should check out. Prices seemed on par for the amount of work involved in each piece.

The facility has almost completed a major renovation to update and modernize the two floors of galleries. Yesterday during my visit, I was welcomed immediately by staff and told about the exhibits that are currently in the gallery. I saw hand crafted jewelry, pottery and lots of beautiful oil paintings. Prices are commensurate with what I'd expect to pay for an original work of art by a talented artist. I like that they have added a timeline explaining the history of art in Brown County in the entry. There is no parking, but you can find street parking to the west. Staff is helpful and not pushy. This gallery is a must visit if you love original art.

Cariani, Carl Graf and Genevieve Goth Graf. The BC Art Guild also features and sells the artwork of over 50 regional member artists. The Guild also has a Gift Shop of art prints, jewelry and ceramics. Marie Goth was well known for her portrait paintings throughout the 20th Century, especially her paintings of the founders of the art colony. When she died in the late 1970's, she left her estate to the Brown County Art Guild. We we are proud to preserve the legacy and artwork of this amazing woman and her collection of paintings by her peers.

I noticed miniature houses/rooms recreated by the owner who spent time as a curator of furnishings for a New York museum. I also found puzzles and pencils and a diverse group of items that may work as a gift or as a conversation piece in your home.
