IUCU helped us create a new account after we were victims of a hack. Our information was potentially compromised so we had to close the account we had with them for about 50 years. They put our account on hold and in two days had a new account set up. The customer service was excellent and provided us with all the information we needed about who to contact to provide our new account information. They also set it up that any ACH debit and credit accounts that we used would automatically be honored on our new account for 60 days, giving us plenty of time to make the switch. We have always been treated with friendly, courteous service and recommend them to everyone looking for a credit union in this area (Indiana). read more

My account was put on hold and I called them to find out what happened. So, they asked about the last check I tried to deposit, asked if I got any profit and how I'm going to spend MY money. (Dear IUCU, that's not your business, how I'm going to spend MY OWN money!) They told me that my account was locked because "the check I tried to deposit was returned". So, I called to the company that sent me that check and I was told that they have no any problem with their account, there is much enough $$ to pay and they didn't have any problem paying their other checks. Despite this, IU CU is still holding the check and unlocked my account only after my 2nd call! read more

Greediest bank in town. They've recently changed their online banking format and I've been over drawn 3 times even though money was in my savings account. Last time I called about it was basically told to go ahead and switch banks. Too bad it's such a pain to switch banks which they know most likely won't happen. read more

Fabulous service for the second time from our banker Chase Washington. He helped us open a savings and CD in the past. Today he helped us with a wire transfer and open a checking and two savings accounts for our kids. He helped us order checks and get our new debit cards. Overall, compared to other banks I've had accounts with, I thought the service was extremely quick and professional. So far no issues at all! read more

This place locked me out of my account after someone SENT ME money and reported someone hacked their account 2 months later locked my account even though they sent Me money. Now I can't use zelle or anything I had been with iucu for 20yrs at this point then a rep said "well back in 2008 someone what you a bad check so since someone did that we are locking your account and locking your zelle." I highly recommend not using this place a bunch of thieves they gave me 3 days to get my money out or they would keep it all. Do not use them read more

I see how they have such a low rating. People in the branches are nice, but corporate is below average or worse. They snoop on your transactions, and if they suspect anything that's to THEIR liking, they cancel you. Beware of the snoops looking at your transactions-questioning where you send your money and your reason why. Not a successful business model. Then, again, this is Bloomington. read more

Will take you for everything you own for the rest of your life. They will put out warrants for your arrest for a debt that is 20 yrs old on a debt you never should have owed in the first place. They do everything they can to default your loan and take you for everything you think you own for the rest of your life. Stay far away from the blood sucking leeches. Go anywhere else. read more

I'm a new member but so far have been impressed with IUCU. The member services people are friendly and efficient. Got our joint account and my personal accounts opened with no hassle and they waived the check fee for temporary checks which was a nice touch. We (my partner and I) are purchasing a home in Bloomington and Matt Harding has been so easy to work with regarding the loan. Very personable and informative. He also recommended local places to purchase our home owners insurance. (and he gave us an umbrella!) I prefer banking locally at a credit union and I feel like IUCU is the place for me. read more

Extremely happy with IU Credit Union so far. I recently financed vehicle and it has been an extremely smooth process. Michelle was able to facilitate transfers the way I needed them, and was extremely helpful! Thanks Michelle and IU Credit Union. read more

I won't spend too much time here dissing them as many people in btown love them. Myself I banked there for 7 or 8 years, at the main branch where they never knew my name, never welcomed me and turned down my refinancing (which I got from Chase in the end and it was great). So bank here if you're anti big banks but I'll stick with Chase where they fix all my issues and always know my name. read more

I've been a member of the IUCU since 1999. My transactions have normally been standard and without complications, and they were exceptional in helping with a car loan. Now they're less customer friendly and more arbitrary and impersonal. For example an awful miscommunication with a colleague and friend who had just lost her job led to her borrowing my debit card and using it for one charge. I found out right away and contacted the IUCU immediately. The charge was still pending and could have easily been stopped. I called to stop payment, an employee at IUCU told me that I had to file a police report against my friend, or they would not stop the payment. I later learned that if the charge had been been made on a non-IUCU credit card, the charge could have been easily stopped without drama. This arbitrary, impersonal response is the "new normal" apparently. Not so much of a community bank, anymore. read more

After applying on a Thursday, and waiting till the following Wednesday (6 days) to hear back on a small personal loan, i am very displeased and disappointed in IUCU, it seems 80% of the staff is in training mode, None of the employees seem to know what they're actually doing, and tend to jumble customers amongst themselves until the customer is either to fed up to continue, or givin a completely incorrect, half assed answer. If you're looking for a great bank, you will not find it at IU Credit Union. ALSO: PLEASE NOTE THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE REVIEWS DISABLED ON FACEBOOK, As a result of poor reviews! Trying to hide their poor customer service!! read more

Last month I was locked out of my account, I called multiple times and went in where they proceeded to accuse me of not being me. They unlock my account, after my ID and I answer a bunch of questions. The following day, I'm locked out again. I call and am told I they believe my account is compromised and I need to come in. I have my daughter drive me as I'm disabled and it's really hard for me to get around. They tell me that I have to open another account, and they'll keep the other one locked but open for 90 days for any other transactions to come through. They refuse to tell me why my account has once again been locked, except fpr muttering that I had Spotify come through, and I don't have Spotify. I respond I've had Spotify since 2015, and I'm ignored. Apparently with me sitting across from them, telling them this is my transaction I am somehow lying. I leave at least thinking well I can use my new account only to have them call me this morning and inform me that they are switching me to a non transactional account. No answer as to why. I don't understand why I would even need an account that I can't use. This used to be a decent place to bank, but after I started having problems I notice they have their facebook reviews turned off, and almost every review they've had since 2016 has been negative. Even read a review very similar, where they apparently accused someone of lying about a transaction. Avoid this bank at all cost. I've been with them for over 20 years, but I'm done. read more

They have built their business by treating all of their customers fairly and with respect! They do auto loans and small biz loans - with great rates...PLUS they are local! read more

When my wife took a job at IU and we moved to Bloomington we decided to bank with IUCU. I had never belonged to a credit union before but it seemed like a good idea. Having been a member for many years now, I have found no advantage to belonging to a credit union over a regular bank. In fact, were I to do it over, I would choose a regular bank over IUCU. Here's why: 1) I have found IUCU customer service to be very rude and condescending on many occasions that I have had to deal with them, while I always get great service from any of the large corporate financial institutions I deal with (MC, AmEx, Discover, Fidelity, et. al.). 2) You would think being a member of a credit union would get you great rates on loans... not in our experience. Since joining IUCU we have initiated 3 new auto loans and 2 new home mortgages, and IUCU has never offered us rates as good as other local institutions... in all cases we have had to go with other banks. (we both have excellent credit, by the way). 3) The thing that drove me to write this review was that today when I visited their website I saw that they were giving away money for some loan promotion... some lucky person drawn at random would win $2018. As a "member" I find it offensive that my credit union is giving away money in cheesy promotions. If you want to raise interest in your loan programs, offer better rates. And take that $2018 and apply to better training of you customer service agents. Edited to add: IUCU has THE MOST UNRELIABLE ATM'S. Literally, half the time I stop at the ATM at two IUCU locations it is out service. They just dropped from 2 stars to 1! read more

Displeased with the customer service. I was promised an email 5 times after calling 4 days to Docusign for an IRA. I walked 9 Chicago blocks (about 25m) while I was on hold--Hit The Road Jack playing over and over--to speak to a rep about why I haven't received an email. After the 4th call I was sent a change of address with my name spelled incorrectly. No IRA form. I'm typing this while on hold AGAIN...srsly Hit the Road Jack is playing. I thought I liked using local banks but I'm changing my mind. I'll be so surprised if the 4th email promise happens. After day 3 I was not a nice customer. Maybe they only cater to those with more money. Idk. Hire some people to answer the phone, will you!??? read more

I moved to Bloomington, in December of 2013 and began looking for a Bank, as my bank from the former city did not have a branch. I opened a Checking account and saving account and began to deposit money, Finally I had a big project and a customer gave me some $14,000 to begin work, after waiting 5 days I came in to get some money to purchase items for this project. The clerk informed me that the funds were available but the required a minimum of 15 days before we could access them, My customer is furious and after talking to a manager (she had to talk to the board of directors) they still have not released the funds, She called me today at 4:50pm you see they close at 5:00pm Guess I'll have to wait another day. Tomorrow will be 18 days from deposit and I wondering if they had to make payroll and used my money to pay someone else. My Advice IS DONT EVER GO IN THERE AND DONT GIVE THEM A BREAK THEY HAVE NO INTERIST IN SMALL BUSINESS. Not is just damage control I guess I'll have to hire an attorney to get my money. There little App still tells me that I don't have enough money, you have to see the statement and look on your deposit ticket, it tells me that I have lots of money but I can only access a small portion of them which of course wont do me any good. The manager and I sat down she wanted to know my customers and wondered if I would be using the same ones. I told her work was hard enough to find and my profit margin was less than 10% so I need to use money to pay off credit cards etc. I have no idea what job or project was going to come up. She just gave the classic corporate policy (CRAP) and You will report all your corporate customers names and account numbers Now by using IU Credit union we can't get money to pay for a romaine noodle dinner. This IU credit union likes 8:00 to 5:00 people who get a steady paycheck that way they can control your funds as they see fit. They like control, that way they can "Deal with you" DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE EVER! !!!!!!!!! The bank business is about holding money (your money NOT THEIRS, PERIOD) its simply none of their business who your customers are and after each check has cleared then "its your MONEY PERIOD". They have no right to hold funds for this long. NO Don't go there EVER!!!!!!!!!! read more

The best place for auto loans -- great rates, and easy to work with. They were perfectly cordial and accommodating for an out-of-state auto purchase. For personal deposit accounts, meh! Better interest rates are easy to find elsewhere. read more
