Look, if you can actually get in to see him, he is an amazing dr. But his office expects you to call and see just how far behind schedule he is running, and advises ppl not to leave their house until they've checked on the schedule delay. If they know he will always run late ( and they said as much) they should adjust his appointments accordingly and not schedule two ppl for ten am. Horrible experience. My 82 year old mother and 85 year old father waited 5 hrs to see this Dr. They were told that THEY should have called prior to arriving to see how far behind he was running. Then, when he did finally see them, it was for only 10 mins. He said he didn't know what the issue was an they were sent on their way....but not before having them schedule another appointment for 3 months from now. I called the office to understand why this happened. The girl who answered the phone told me that this Dr. often runs 4 to 5 hrs behind. She then said he is in the office from 6am to 10pm....as if that justifies this treatment of my elderly parents. How on earth can any Dr. treat patients in this manner. STAY CLEAR !!!! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Hamovic for almost 5 years and have seen him with severe neck/head pain. Each time I have called for an immediate appointment because of the severity of the pain I have always been accommodated and very appreciative of that. My experience with his staff has always been positive and they have always called me back with any questions that I have had. Because he is so accommodating to any of his patients in need there is always a long wait. But, bottom line HE IS WORTH IT! In my opinion as much as I would prefer not to have a long wait I would rather have an excellent Dr. who will see me immediately if I am in severe pain rather than a Dr. seeing me weeks later when it is convenient in his schedule and there is a lesser wait. Dr. Haimovic is a dedicated, caring and extremely knowledgeable Neurologist! He never rushes you and unlike many other doctors actually listens to you! This Dr. is amazing! Dr. Haimovic is an outstanding dr. I hate to recommend him because he is so good, I don't want him to have more patients!! He is so comprehensive, that you can have a 2 to 4 hour wait. I am not exaggerating when I say this...my appointment was for 10 am and I got in to see the doctor at 4:30 pm! The last time I went to see him my appointment was for 3 pm and I saw the doctor at 9 pm. From what I hear, this is the norm, he is never on time. After seeing you 6 hours past your appointment time he comes into the room like nothing ever happened. He is certainly friendly enough and did come highly recommended by my primary doctor but making patients wait that long is unacceptable. From what I am told your best bet is to be his first appointment of the day at 6 am otherwise be prepared to WAIT! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Haimovic's for over four years now. He is the most caring, dedicated, professional, hard working and compassionate doctor I have ever come across. Words aren't enough to express my gratitude and he truly helped me get my life back. On two occasions he took me as an emergency. This doctor is wonderful. If you think you need to see a neurologist and have an issue I would recommend him. My appointment was for 6 AM and yes it did take about 4.5 hours to be out of the office. But since I knew this I planned ahead. I think it's unfair of other yelpers to give someone a poor review based on that alone. From what I observed from my own experience, this wasn't due to poor office management or the doctor not paying attention to his patients. It's due to the amount of tests the doctor runs on you and he tries to accommodate and have as much done as possible in one day. Again, I am speaking from my own personal experience being the first patient of that day he saw. How my visit went: 6:00 AM - check in, appointment, had initial consultation with Dr. Haimovic who listened and documented my concerns and issues 6:30 AM - Dr. Haimovic spent about 10 minutes doing a physical examination and at that point determined what tests would be done that day. He immediately got on the phone with the MRI center just downstairs and spoke with them on my behalf to see if they could see me the same day. He got me in at 7:30 AM for an MRI. 7:30 AM - got MRI performed by Frank - nice guy! ~30 minutes - got an EEG done by Dan - nice guy! ~40 minutes - got two brain scans done (can't remember the names of the tests) ~25 minutes -checked out - this was the only downside of this office, nothing major but the blond haired/blue eyed check-out woman was a crabby human being...for no good reason whatsoever. She has that assumptuous nature with a matter-of-fact tone that's condescending to anyone who doesn't yet "know it all". The nicer I was to her, the worse she got. She seemed irritated with the four pertinent questions I asked her. I later overheard her chatting with the only other bad apple of the office. Birds of a feather I suppose. She shouldn't be working in a people-interfacing environment if she can't be cordial. Otherwise I wouldn't take points off of this office for her alone - there was another brunette check-out woman who was very pleasant and all of the other office staff seemed nice as well. Maybe the blond haired devil is "Maria" whom another Yelper suggested staying away from. I need to follow up with this office on two more visits. Let's see how those visits go and what the doctor says and I will update if there is any additional pertinent information that might be helpful to anyone. Happy thus far though with this doctor and would not hesitate to recommend him. Seems highly skilled and the several "best doctor in New York" awards he's gotten seem to back this up. read more

Half the staff was professional the other half was outright nasty and rude. The wait was over an hour. They rush to get approval for a MRI that they'll do on premises but when you can't tolerate the sandwich type machine with the plastic mask that's bolted to the table that they have in the basement they seem to lose interest. I had to keep chasing after them. Calls were not returned or the person that did call was rude. Don't go here! read more

First, I would never recommend this doctor to anyone! His practice is a complete meat market which triple book the day, in order to copay to collect. If you cancel less than 24 hrs they bill you. Obviously the Drs. time is much more precious than yours, waiting time is an average of 4 to 5 hrs at min. The staff is completely incompetent. I have gone in for my monthly procedure, waited 4 in a half hours and then turned me away. Their excuse was prior authorization which I already had. DISGUSTING! read more

Have been going to this doctor for a few years due to arthritic pain in my knees. He usually gives me a cortisone shot in my lower back which relieves my pain. When I go there I do usually have to wait about an hour. I have been in so much pain for over a week and even though I ask them for the closest appointment I waited one week for the appointment for today. I arrive 15 minutes before my appointment and when I got up to the desk was told there would be a three-hour wait. I asked her why she didn't give me a call since I took the day off of work. She said we don't do that and I can wait or just come back in 3 hours. Since it takes me 40 minutes to get there I was not about to go home and come back. I told them I would never be back there. I don't understand these doctors think their time is more valuable than mine. Now after waiting a week even though I told him it was an emergency I have to find another doctor. You will wait a minimum of 3 hours in the waiting room and when you finally go into one of the rooms another 45 minutes until the doctor walks into the room. The staff is very rude and they lie to you. Dr. Haimovic does not return phone calls. When you are sitting in the waiting room you constantly hear his patients complaining and patients walking out of the of his office after putting up with the rude staff. I am a senior citizen and I have been to many doctors in my lifetime and you are making a mistake if you select him to help you. read more

Waited 2 and a half hours for my first appt, 6 hours for my second appt. Be warned everyone- this was happening to all the other patient in the waiting room. I asked for my records as I will never return to that office again. The medical information: reason for my visit, the treatment I had already received was completely wrong. I saw Dr Haimovic today for evaluation of ADD/ADHD. I had an EEG at his office and an MRI at the office underneath his and went back up to his office at 2 to see him and get his opinion of the tests. I had no appointment but was told by his office staff that I should tell them when I was done with the tests, to wait in the waiting room and that he would see me to discuss the results. I have worked at a different doctor's office on Long Island for the past eight years and understand that the office staff become the punching bags for annoyed patients and do not like treating them as so myself. I went up three different times as the hours went by in the waiting room to ask how much longer it would be... By 6:30 and 4 1/2 hours of waiting I went back up to ask and the girl at the front desk said that she was wondering for a while why I had been sitting there. She seemed panicked and embarrassed when I told her how long I had been sitting there and that over an hour before a different girl had told me that I was close to going in. This alone was unacceptable. It was 7:15 by the time I actually saw the doctor and I had waited five hours to see him for five minutes in which it was clear to me that he did not review my file at all before entering the room and he had not reviewed the 13 weeks of evaluation notes from my referring doctor that were sent over to help him make a more accurate and proper diagnosis. He scrolled through pages of notes from my referring doctor and skimmed them, at best, and made no mind of her evaluation. He quickly turned back to me and said lets put you on a test run of Adderall and went to walk out of the room to attend to his three other full rooms. My mom and myself had to stop him from walking out of the room at least twice to ask him questions about our visit. I have had some of the best doctors on Long Island as my doctors and one as my boss and I can easily say that he is mediocre at best. I will absolutely not be coming back to him ever again. read more

I had had a mini stroke and was taken to NSUH where the hospital gave me Dr. Ardayel, Neurologitst to follow up with outpaitient in 2 days. I called the number and a young girl picked up and I asked to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ardayel. She started saying I should see Dr. Hamovic since I was there 2 years ago for left knee nerve pain, I didn't like that she was switching my Dr. I said that 2 years ago Dr. Haimovic didn't even see the nerve and said: "there is no problem". The vicious nurse/employee went on and on that I should see Dr .Haimovic and not Dr. Aydelar who had been recommended to my by the Neurologit at NSUH. Finally, I gave up, since she kept repeating the same over and over, and she scheduled appointment with Dr. Haimocie without conscience. What a Careless Unconscienable Dr. he is, everything is like a rush, since he wants to see all the patients, charge them repeatedly for MRIs MRAs unnecessarily, giving them less than a minutes the result of MRIs MRAs saying: "everything ok, normal"................. where MRI of NSUH with contrast states otherwise, stating several problems going on in Brain; mainly CNS problems, Neurological Problems, and ITA attack/Mini Stroke...... which deadly conditions are being ignored by this Dr. I took a nerve with another Dr. which showed Left knee nerve damage and i took an MRI which showed later two meniscus tears which I had to do a surgery. Staff are very rude, they keep manipulating, one says you can see the Dr. tomorrow re MRIs; another one says: No come back Friday, after Egg and than he'll give you results at once, a third one said: Oh not Friday, call Monday and talk to him over the phone. I said to them I had had it with everything there and their unprofessional conduct and the Technician's misconduct, not property doing the EGG for me, that I wanted my medidcal records and few minuts to talk to him re diagnosis. Someone called back next day told me to hold on to talk to Dr. Haimovic. I held on for 15+ minuts, no one picked up the phone. Then they called again 3 more times, every time after 10 minutes or so, either the employee or nurse or Dr. Haimovic himself would hang up the phone. It was awful and I felt terrible having waisted my time with this unprofessional Dr.'s office and staff. Also, the Tech who performed the EGG on my hair jumbled bumbled my hair all inside the cap, which I had told him to leave the length of my hair out since I would get very hot --- he did just the opposite, at the end I had questions, he said: "next patient I have good buye" very rude and nasty. This male technician spent 1.5 hour on the young girl before me, mad her cap special, put all the wires in a long black tube and in general he made it very safe and secured wrapping the wires on top of her hair and then leaving the length/rest of her hair out, which is supposed to be that way. but he did a nasty job with the wires on m hair, leaving them lose, not protected in a plastic tube, also pulled with such force all my hair up and jumbled my hair on top of the Electros. All in 20 minutes. ?????? the manager had told me the EEG would take at least AN HOUR. He did a horrible job, not securing the wires, they keep taking MRIs , MRAs, and EGG, and even though my Brain MRI from NSUH pointing to so many problems in the Brain, Dr. Havovic's office MRIs and MRAs, were all perfect and normal. It's a laugh, it's really a crime, the practice should be stopped. If he keeps taking the patients that he does not have the time and capacity to care for, also ordering unnecessary MRIs MRAs and EGGs for everyone, then his office should be closed; and his License should be REVOKED OR AT LEATT SUSPENDED PENDING UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DR. AND HIS BAD RUDE, VICIOUS STAFF INVOLVED IN MIS-CONDUCT. read more

if you want to be seen by the most capable neurologist on long island, that would be this doctor. i have been a patient for 20 years. he puts you at ease and fixes problems that no one else can. he works extremely long hours because he wants to help people not because he has to. yes expect a long wait time..but it is worth it to me to see the best!!! if i had an emergency today.. he would see me.. thats a caring dr. and there are not too many of them left. he is one of kind. read more
