Sushi's a sickly sort of food a lot of people don't seem to get. It's kind of a guilty pleasure, in that it tastes good but often leaves you feeling like you've got things crawling around in your stomach.
I tend to stay as far away from seafood as I can. Traumatic childhood experience. But I love me some teriyaki chicken. The thing is, with teriyaki chicken being such a small part of the sushi family, I can sometimes run into trouble trying to get it. This is especially true at sushi train restaurants. I sit there like a dog stuck behind a gate, running back and forth with great excitement, just waiting to get out. The little plates of sushi continue by, on that damnable train, but the teriyaki chicken never comes.

I've been there once where it was out (and, to be fair, it was toward the end of the day), but I was able to substitute it wish some carrot and cucumber.
Now, this place is quick, easy and relatively cheap, but, of course, the sushi isn't quite as good as you'd find at a sushi train, or similar establishment. So, if you're looking to try and convince one of the people described in the opening paragraph that sushi DOES have its qualities, be prepared to splurge, and take them to an expensive restaurant. All bets on the table. All or nothing. read more
