The only reason why I'm giving this four stars is it's EXPENSIVE. I was a bit wary that this store only had two dollar signs on yelp considering it is located on Magazine Street, but I decided to give it a try. Yup, it is very expensive. I have not found a way to edit how many dollar signs yelp gives to an establishment, which makes me think that the store itself is in charge of its price point on yelp. This place deserves four or five dollar signs, definitely NOT two!! Work is amazing, so you will have to decide if it is worth it for yourself.

When I moved to New Orleans 2 years ago, I needed a new framer, and found the girls at Magazine Street Framing right off the bat. I never looked back. They are kind, patient (they need it with me -- I always want to look at all my options!), professional, accommodating, and VERY reasonably priced. I can't say enough nice things about them. I've gotten about 10 things framed there, and everything, from my Ladies' Choice posters (which is a downright STEAL) to my most prized painting, has turned out perfectly. Now I'm moving again, and I am so sad to say goodbye to them. Thank you for all your help these last two years!

I took an original piece there in 2020 and shortly after returning home with it, it crashed onto the floor because they didn't affix the wire solidly to the back. Waste of over $100. The last time they did work for me, I had a broken glass and frame. I just wanted new glass and the frame secured so that the art was secure but no cosmetic work done, because the frame was original with this valuable 1920s Erte lithograph. Not only did they mess up this priceless antique frame trying to patch it with mismatched putty and paint (they failed to respect my instructions not to attempt cosmetic repair), but they returned it to me with the picture in the frame, upside down! After seeing how they damaged the frame I did not want them to touch this piece again. Adamant to patronize neighborhood businesses, I gave them a third shot. What a huge mistake! They act as though everything they do is brain surgery and are always unsure that they can do even the simplest of tasks. (They are right- they can't.) The person at the shop said she could not take my matting job because "the frame is heavy." When I asked for clarification, she then gave as a reason that they had "no place to put it." Odd since it's a frame shop! Then finally she admitted she needed her manager to approve the intake. I sat and waited until the manager called her back. She agreed to take it but then began trying to make it seem as though reaffixing a lithograph to its matting was rocket science and that they couldn't guarantee they could do it. After wasting too much of my time already, I left. An artist friend of mine recommended a small frame shop less than 5 miles away in Metairie and the guy there handled my intake with ease and confident assurance, and the whole thing took less than 5 minutes. I will never go to Avenue Art again.
