After not being able to go to the infamous hardware store in Downtown Covington (they were closed), I happen to look across the street and saw Mo's. As happen chance I needed some large canvases for an upcoming filming and made my way over. I am a thrifty artist. I know that supplies are expensive in the big box art supply stores. I generally get my supplies on sale, with a coupon or online, mostly online in bulk. On this day, Mo's had just what I was looking for large canvases on sale and paint. I ended buying all the large canvases they had because the prices were too good to pass up and quite a few other things. The store had a little bit of everything and a lot of unique items too, gifts, papers and maps, even the digital image projector that I had eye spied online...... I wholeheartedly support local and this one little business has a lot of bang for your buck! If you're an artist, if you want to discover the forgotten hidden artist (you were magnificent in grade school)...if you need a quirky gift, if you dislike big box stores, if you want to go to the cool hardware store and then run across the street to pick up a sketch book to transfer all that inspiration...then Mo's is a must... and Mo's has everything your need to create what your mind can imagine!

Being my first time here, I was quite impressed with how well stocked it is and how staff are willing to help you find items. More than anything with these stores, I love the atmosphere and the wall decor. Many of them are themed and faith centered. I came here looking for specific glass jars, as the particular ones I needed were out of stock online. Not only did they have them, I found more stylish ones and stocked up expeditiously, LOL! Customer service is excellent and their sales are always inviting. I think I've found my favorite Hobby Lobby here in Covington.

Bennett was super easy to work with just drop off and they scanned and emailed me a dropbox link. Yes. My film was overexposed and the pics were later than I thought... probably mostly from 2006. My only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5? Their hours. I get that photo places are not as popular as they once were but 10-4 Monday-Thursday only? It took me months to actually get over there when they were open.

Get art that makes you happy!…read more I first came across Marianne via insta. Can't quite remember who posted about it, but was immediately interested in the bright colors and patterns in her work. She recently did a sale on her prints, and I picked up a couple that resonated with me with Pilipinx themes, like "Moonface Sisters." I love that description, and it's something that felt immediately familiar. Another piece of hers, "Sunday at lola's house" (grandmother's house) also immediately resonated. The mix of colors and shapes totally reminded me of the Philippines, and similarly visiting my own lola's house. Lush vibes like Louisiana where home gives way to humidity. I decided that I'd make the trip up to be able to see the rest of her work in person, and am super glad I did! I was able to make a reservation for a specific time to visit (appreciate the COVID measures!), and she and her partner were super generous in sharing space, stories, and a bit more about Covington (I'd never actually been around). It was nice to be able to talk about our families as Filipino Americans, learn about her process, and see how her work is evolving. Looking forward to what comes next!
