Hazelnut had been through 3 foster families before me, over the course of 2 months. Despite having a good life for 7 years (she was reluctantly surrendered by her family when they moved into an apartment), and despite the efforts of 3 amazing, caring foster families, Hazelnut was unsettled, unsure of where life would dump her next, and, I think, misunderstood by all the potential adopters who ran away with their tails between their legs. It doesn't help that I'm gone 40 hours/week for work, and there's nobody around to stimulate her brain cells. Hazelnut is an intelligent, loving hound, but she has some serious anxiety issues around dogs (especially, but not only, big ones), and around certain people, too (I have not yet figured out what makes her snap at people). When her triggers get too close, Hazelnut barks and lunges and froths at the mouth. So finding a dogsitter was going to be challenging! Cathy of A Dog's Day was not fazed by Hazelnut's seemingly aggressive behaviour. Our first meeting, at the beginning of May, 2 weeks after I had adopted Hazelnut, everyone nearly went deaf. Hazelnut was barking and bearing teeth, shouting "Hey everyone! I feel really uncomfortable right now! And I want you to feel that way too!" In spite of the fact that Cathy was then on vacation until a week before my weekend getaway, she planned with me an approach to introduce her to Hazelnut and gradually make the relationship more comfortable. She also brought along her son Jacob, knowing that his gentle, laid-back demeanor would be soothing for an unsettled dog. Cathy and Jacob met me at home and took Hazelnut for a walk. I gave them the key, and later in the week, they let themselves into the house, and took Hazelnut for another walk. All of this was free of charge, because they wanted to make sure the weekend would work out well for everyone, Hazelnut especially! Jacob did much of the dog-sitting while I was gone, and I couldn't be happier with the results. When I got home Monday afternoon, Hazelnut was lolling about on the couch. She was more relaxed than I'd ever seen her. In the course of 3 days, Jacob and Cathy worked some kind of de-stressing magic on Hazelnut. I will definitely be hiring A Dog's Day again in future. And if you need an experienced dogsitter (or dog walker) who is prepared to deal with practically anything, who will plan it carefully, and execute the plan with love and attention to detail, then you should give Cathy a call!

So I know you can count on him in a crisis. I have found him to be 100% reliable. Also caring and compassionate with dogs (and owners). Loves each dog, and knows each one's idiosyncrasies well, judging by how he talks about them. He's also careful that the dogs in his groups are a good mix, and trials dogs on a walk before he accepts them into his schedule. And the greatest thing, he takes them on amazing vigorous walks, lasting 2 hours at least. My dog loves him, and always comes home happy, hungry and Tired! I do not hesitate to recommend him, with no reservations.

I go monthly to get my dogs nails trimmed as I'm scared to do it myself and always trusted them. In June, they recommended I start working With her and trimming her nails myself, sent me info. I noticed in July my dog started suffering worse From arthritis so I call to get her looked at. They said they were too busy and sent me to a different vet, no problem. She then needed to go back to the vet once a week for 4 weeks. Naturally I call back to my go to vet- Clayton park. i leave a voicemail asking to book her in for her weekly shots and ask for a call back. Not returned. Ok. The new vet has been trying to get my dogs info, so I call Clayton park again and leave a voicemail asking for them to send over the info to the new vet and ask for them to call me back and confirm. No response. Ok. They call today saying she has had medication there (for anxiety for vet visits) and that I've yet to pick it up. I am not happy as I've been trying to get in contact with this vet for weeks and they refuse to return a phone call. Do not bother with this vet- they very clearly only care about selling you medication and care nothing about your pet considering they haven't asked once how my dog is.
