Before retirement, my principal job was reviewing healthcare organizations for a congressional committee of the U.S. Congress. Unlike today, this position at the time was totally non-political. The scope ranged from major multiple hospitals, clinics, rehab, nursing homes, and related healthcare organizations. Admittedly, I saw the full spectrum of healthcare quality - that is why I rate Dr. Sanjay Jatana and his team of professionals so highly - they represent the best possible confluence of surgical skill and knowledge with extraordinary people skills. Even in the years since my retirement about a decade ago, I saw the full-range of quality in healthcare. At the bottom end of the spectrum are surgeons who drag gargantuan egos through the hallways and produce bad results. One north Denver based surgeon spent a total of less than three minutes total over the course of two office visits with me for a Lumbar disc replacement, instinct told me to just walk out - I knew better - I wish I had. He did not even bother to stick his face behind the pre-op curtain before surgery and did not follow-up post-surgery, left me in excruciating pain of 10/10 for an hour because the nursing staff were terrified of talking to this guy, and finally saw me some three months later, almost an afterthought. He spent more time talking about his teaching engagement in Europe than caring about his patients. This is the exact opposite of Dr. Jatana and his team's approach - thank goodness. His group (Denver Spine Surgeons) rocks, and has rocked the spinal micro-surgery and treatment world in the Rocky Mountain West for a long time. Of course everyone's different, and you should do your own research about who best meets your needs. But for me, I've found my treatment provider and it's DSS, without a doubt. He wrote he spent 55 minutes with me when he spent 5-10 minutes with me complaining about other DR's care and other patients. My recommendation is to go to another DR, record your visit or bring someone with you and review your medical record afterwards, as he will document from others notes and make things up. He has a long history of being scored 1 and most people do not review their medical records and may be unaware of his notes which may be totally inaccurate and impact your care. Please follow up with both medicare, the hospital and the medical board because he will harm people if he already has not based on his fabrications which Im sure started when he was a med student. I can not stress enough that lying on a medical reocrd is not only bad for you but a very bad practice.

My wife had lower back surgery which went as planned with no complications. This just happened yesterday so she is definitely in the recovery stage at the moment. Back surgery is a very traumatic event no matter what type it is and Dr McPherson and Chris did a great job prior to the surgery explaining everything. There is little for me to say about the surgery itself but I can certainly comment on the recovery at the OCC Surgery Center next door to Peak. The admissions staff was welcoming, very professional and courteous. The bigger story was the pre op and post nurses, Ricky and Lindsey. It was their job to make my wife as comfortable and at ease as possible considering what she was having done. Ricky was with her from both pre op to post op and Lindsey finished off her stay in recovery. Caring is the first word that comes to mind closely followed by professional and simply knew their stuff! This was a difficult experience for my wife to handle and they helped every step of the way. There are not enough words to express her gratitude to the fullest! Thank you and yes, if you need to go this direction we highly recommend Dr. Hugh McPherson, Chris, his staff and the team at the OCC Surgery Center! However, I was able to get an assessment of several radiologists - the consensus opinion was that at best, the difference was 1/8th of an inch. Most people go through life not knowing that one leg may be up to an inch longer than the other. So a maximum difference is a bulls eye. I deleted my initial comment once I got a good report. Loucks is an outstanding surgeon.

Dr Mobley will definitely be the surgeon I use once I have exhausted all other options to avoid the obvious. Clear up what I need to get done to prepare for the fusion and "rod" that will be placed in my back to avoid my vertebras from "slipping. Not sure of all the technical verbiage. Dr Mobley saw what extreme pain I was in and quickly made a call to get the process sped up as quickly as possible. Dr Mobley had asked them to start pre authorizing the treatment I need so I can have it done more quickly.
