We visited Italy on our first trip to Munich and we had to visit again on our latest trip. On this visit the outdoor patio was closed, since it's November. They had plenty of seating though and gave us a table by the window. We learned during our last trip that the Alfredo Tortellini is our favorite here, and while I perused the menu I knew we both would end up ordering that. The server gave us a basket of bread and took our drink orders first. I ordered a cappuccino and my husband ordered a beer. We didn't end up eating any of the bread, it didn't come with butter and we were saving our appetite for the pasta. The server seemed surprised that we both ordered the tortellini, but took our order nonetheless and we didn't wait too long before our meal arrived. When it did they also brought a pepper mill and some parmesan cheese that we could add if we wished. The food was delicious, just like we remembered and we both finished our meals, but were very full afterward. It was a good thing we didn't end up eating the bread. They definitely prefer you to speak German or Italian here. We did our best with German, but when it came to pay my husband wanted to leave a tip and the server seemed a bit annoyed that he was looking over the receipt so much (he was calculating how much extra we wanted to tip) we get that it's not as common here so there was definitely a bit of confusion. If you have the option, sitting on the patio is really nice. We'll definitely keep this as a regular stop when we visit Munich and are craving some pasta. read more

I went with co workers to try a new restaurant that one of them recommended. There were a lot of great options, but I went with the carbonara pasta and it was probably one of the best if not the best carbonaras I have ever had. I also ordered a beer and my meal was less than 20 euros. It was inexpensive in my opinion and I enjoyed my meal. I definitely recommend this place! The service was very good and the ambiance was ok. I recommend sitting outside compared to being inside. read more

This is a popular little local restaurant, not on the usual path. Tasty pizzas, efficient and often friendly service, and good lasagna. It always seems to be busy and it has a good feel. Better than other Italian options in the area. They have an outdoor seating area when the weather is good. They can handle larger groups and it's probably best to call ahead if you are a large group. The dishes are authentic but the taste was very average. Service was very fast and accommodating. Prices for Munich are excellent. The pizza was sadly the best part of the meal. Pasta Bolognese was 6/10. If you don't speak German or Italian be prepared for the usual Munich rudeness. Not a place for children at all! Dogs however are always welcomed over children. What a gem! Honestly, as I approached this restaurant I sighed and thought to myself "My goodness, can this place be any more kitschy?" From the red, green, and white lights to the oversized plants in the windows, I was preparing myself for an interesting experience. I really should have taken my Mom's advice to "never judge a book by it's cover". The server was very helpful with making suggestions for both entres and wine (although it was hard to find him later on in the meal). Also, I was blown away by how fast we received our food, and thank god because I was s-t-a-r-v-i-n-g!! I had the pasta carbonara and it was hands down, no contest, THE BEST carbonara I've had in my life. When I go back here it is going to be really hard for me to ever try anything else on the menu! I was really sad I had to split this dish with my friend since he ordered a pizza and we agreed to share our food. Don't get my wrong, the pizza was also great.....but that carbonara....my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Desert was a bit of a flop. I forget what it was called (super sorry about that people!) but it was basically an Italian version of a flan or creme catalana, but the syrup poured on top of it tasted like maple syrup mixed with water. However, that will NOT keep me away from Ristorante Italy. We had a huge disappointment with this place after picking it out of a list of 5 Italians restaurants we had narrowed down. I try to go as objective as I can with reviews, I'll just put the facts individually. Service: Rude, more rude than German standards. The server name was Gerardo, he sat us at a table that was booked for 2 hours later even though we then realized there were about other 12 tables that were not booked. He barely said anything to us and kept coming to get our order in a very pushy way, which ended up in my couple ordering something out of randomness just to get him off of our back. Food: Given the experience with the server I just ordered a Rocket salad and a Salame Picante Pizza. The salad was just plain Rocket in a bowl, which you could add olive oil and balsamico to. The pizza was just good, it was a pizza I could buy at a Domino's pizza or any standard place in some amusement park or mall that sells pizza. Not the pizza I was aiming for, Napolitana type. My couple had Spaghetti Napolitana which was also just ok, not close to some other Napolitana sauces we have tried in places other than Italy. I guess we must have had bad luck given the reviews and tried some dishes that were not theirs best, but it was our experience and so I share it. This guy Gerardo needs to cool it down a bit and be more friendly to tourists and locals alike as we all are customers and keep the business going. read more

We ate here last Thursday night. It was OK. My wife's pizza was nice nothing special but ok. My lasagna was cold in the middle. I know they cannot cook it fresh but make sure it's warmed through! Once It was taken away and heated it tasted just fine. Service was OK. I might call again but probably just for take out pizza. Prices cheap for the area. read more
