I am shocked this place has 4.9 stars. Really? First of all, their menu is pretty limited. Barely more than a few options. Second their chicken cutlets were disgusting, no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. Third they messed up our order which of course you don't realize till you are home and ready to eat. This place was amazing -- pricey, but amazing. I was in town with a friend over the new year, and we wanted a nice dinner without having to sit in a restaurant. Also wanted some basic supplies to cook for the week, so we decided to check this place out. They have a wide range of Italian goods that are all fairly high end. We ended up purchasing the lobster and the mushroom ravioli with their version of vodka sauce and fresh bread. The staff was very friendly, and they had a full deli as well (though we didn't order sandwiches or anything - it looked great, very throw-back sort of old school, reminded me of New York). Well, we got back to our condo and WOW. Both raviolis cooked up easily and the sauce was amazing. Like I said, pricey, but the quality was so good I was wanting more shortly after finishing them. The lobster one in the vodka sauce was legit one of the best I've ever eaten in my life. If you're in this area, you definitely need to start supporting this local gem! I'm jealous you have the chance (even if my wallet is thanking me for being a state away). read more

A small little Italian Deli/Market. They have a handful of items for sale (like capers, olives, pasta, ravioli's) in addition to a sandwich menu and family meals-to-go. We opted for some sandwiches. My husband ordered the Reuben and I got the Sicilian which was loaded with thinly sliced meats & layers of cheese. It was a really good sammie. The staff was amazing and very helpful. I've past this place many times and decided to get a sub from here today. They sell all sorts of pastas and everything smelled so good.. you can get hot or cold subs.. I got jimmys sub and it was packed full of deliciousness! I got a small but I sware on normal that would be large anywhere else! You can get already breaded veal cutlets which is good to know because can't find veal often for veal parm! I was hosting an Italian dinner for some friends and decided to finally make my way to the Italian Market here in Hampstead. I had heard nothing but good things and quickly realized why. They have a very nice market side with fresh produce, any type of pasta you can image (some made in house). They also have any type of ingredient you can image that you would need to make some homemade sauces. They also have a deli side and some bakery items. I went ahead and got some Italian cookies for my guests and they really enjoyed them. (one even said it reminded him of his childhood because he himself was raised in a New York/Italian household). I also saw a woman ordering from the deli and everything on that side did look delicious, however, I did not explore that side of the market yet but will be returning to do so. Stoppped in for a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll last week and I've been back five times since. The food is fantastic and the woman who owns the place is equally so. All of their breads come from NY/NJ, which as anybody from up north knows, makes or breaks a sandwich. I haven't tried the subs yet, but they use Boar's Head cold cuts, so quality is definitely the focus there. They also have a ton of take and bake Italian foods. It's located right next to the liquor store on 17 in Hampstead. Next time you stop for a bottle, grab a sandwich, some Italian cookies or a quick and easy take and bake pizza or pasta. Authentic Italian deli. They import NY bagels and bread and Italian cookies. Lots of prepared Italian to go frozen meals like Parm and pasta. Plenty of sandwiches made to order and pasta and canned staples for sale. Lunchtime can be a bit of a wait though so order ahead for pickup. read more

Another wonderful Italian market in the Wilmington/Hampstead area! After trying both this place and A Taste of Italy, I preferred this place. Both are great and deserve praise for their food, but there are a lot of differences that make them stand apart. They have fresh meats and cheeses, olive and peppers, prepared foods, frozen foods, dry goods and pastas, baked goods and daily specials. I happened to stop in one a day when homemade braciole had been made and it was delicious! Worth following them on FB to see their weekly specials. Their hero's are drool worthy and worth every penny and bite (my favorite is the Sicilian). As an Italian from north jersey, I can't tell u how much I love having this place nearby. There are items there they just don't sell in the south. And u know it's legit because all the other customers have NY or NJ accents haha. The owner and staff are amazing, real friendly, family atmosphere. But even if italian food isn't your thing, this place makes the best subs in town by far. Fresh ingredients and large portions. If u truly hate italian food or feel like u don't have enough salt in your diet, I suggest the olive garden. They know how to defrost and work a microwave!! read more

1st time ordering here. Got a large cold corned beef hero, with all the fixins. Oh my gosh. Fresh, great flavor, as well as HUGE. I can not wait to go back to try more. Figured this place would get better under new ownership but it hasn't. Their soup was out of a can. It was really bad. Also, the sandwich was not made with fresh ingredients we had to take all the toppings off because they looked old and please never order the gyro. My husband picked up the chicken Alfredo family meal and it was AMAZING!! All we had to do was heat in the oven. It also came with bread and salad. We were looking for an olive tapenade for our muffaletta sandwich we were making for dinner. A woman(the owner, I think) approached us immediately to see if she could help. I told her what I was looking for and she said her distributor had not shipped this for awhile, but she had a bit of her home-made olive salad left. Yes please. We went back to the deli and every meat we were interested in, she kept handing us a sample. Everyone in the back was so nice and helpful and everything was fresh and delicious. I drove by this place for a looooong time and I hate that I did it bc the food is really good. I was introduced bc they offer "take and heat" style meals and I wanted to try the stuffed shells. I was blown away at how good they are. They are seriously delicious. I stopped eating my lunch today just to call them and thank them for making such a good meal. i have been shopping here for2 years and the new owners are so nice and continue to amaze with the great subs. my go to is the sicilian, a mix of italian cold cuts and provolone with tomato and lettuce and a vinagrette instead of mustard.also i got to get some tiramisu and this amazing chocolate torte to satisfy my sweet tooth. they also have a selection of cookies to tempt you.the bread loaves from the freezer are the best you can find anywhere around wilmington. a new product they offer is 2 ft. long spaghetti, wow! they are located next to a.b.c. in hampstead so you can take care of 2 shopping trips in 1 stop. read more

Ok. So the selection is sparse. BUT, these are real Italians from New York and if you want something, they will get it for you. Amaizing! I'm from San Diego, CA and grew up going to little Italy down town. This is what this matket reminds me of! Yes, it is a little sparce, but the variety of what they do have is perfect. They have salami, cheese, bread, sauce... the list goes on. The bread come in from NY, it was frozen but omgosh delicious. The sauce the owner suggested for me to buy, Don Brunos Vodka Sauce amaizing. If you want a sauce that is a little creamy, and a mix of marinara sauce this is it. Its not that crap they sell at Vons, Safeway, piggly wiggly, this is delicious. The owners also have frozen Gnocchi, and othe pastas. I believe the ravioli in the contaners is homemade. She also has homemade meetballs, deserts, pastas and get this... premade meals chicken parm, lasagna.... just an array of life in this place. They are putting in a deli and I cant wait to try it. When you walk into this place the bread delivery guy Vinnie is there to great you and he's a delight. I could talk to the owners for hours. My family and I will be back! read more

I stopped by to get a Hero and San Pellegrino soda and was not disappointed. I had the 9" italian sandwich and it was excellent! I actually had two meals out of the small size, lunch and dinner. I watched them make the sandwich and it was loaded with meat, and they added more when I thought it was finished. The bread was crispy outside and soft inside, just the way I like it.
