It's wonderful to know that the family behind these amazing and uber delicious gourmet products are incredibly nice and generous. While there are so many different items that I adored (and I tried quite a few samples) my favorite is the Heavenly Toffee Cookies. Tasty grahams toffee'd up to the wazoo. SO delightful. I pretty much took down an entire 6 oz. bag in one sitting. Goodness Gracie, you sure do make delicious treats. They also make a ton of other cookies and delicious snack items that make for perfect gifts for anyone who loves a tasty morsel and/or local products. Their website also hosts a variety of really cute basket-like gifts for any occasion at really affordable prices. I will continue to support this great local company in any way I can! Trust me, if you try their cookies or snacks you won't be able to resist either.

I met the owners at the Beaufort Wine and Food Festival this past weekend and like Nicole, we bought two bags and finished them in the hotel room before the weekend was over. They are incredible! The couple hand makes all of their items themselves. I am allergic to tree nuts so we bought the Oatmeal Toffee cookies! Holy shmoley, these things are the best! When we got home, I got online and ordered more for myself and some gifts. You gotta visit this site and grab some for yourself!

Oh dear, oh dear; what have I done? The other day I was perusing various offerings in the area and…read morecame upon the Carolina Candy Company. The short description piqued my interest (I mean, come on already...chocolate and toffee? What's not to love?. As an unpaid servant to the gastronomic public, I forced myself to locate this place. It is in a small collection of shops off of Kerr Avenue, but finding it can be a bit difficult (especially for some of our local speed demons!). Google maps will get you there, however, and it is on your right as you enter the parking area between the two sets of stores. The photo I took shows what to look for and do look for it. Did I mention that they do samples? I meant to go in and speak with the owners, and maybe that was it. Of course, those who know me are laughing right now because y'all know my predilection for sweets. Purely in the interest of encouraging this business (veteran-owned), I did purchase a small bag of their dark chocolate toffee. Oh, the things I do for science and the community. Carolina Candy Company has other offerings other than candy from other Veteran-owned businesses, including hand-poured candles and soaps. Very interesting, but let's get back to the toffee! Rich, luscious, and all-too-soon gone flavor. The variety of toffee and barks will tempt the most diet-conscious person. The selections include a dark-chocolate toffee, dark-chocolate southern pecan toffee, and milk chocolate almond toffee. The barks (peppermint) I somehow did not sample. Please forgive this oversight, which I plan on correcting soon. All are decadent and probably the ruin of many a New Year's promises to avoid sweets. I went with the dark-chocolate toffee (this time) with a commitment to return (soon!) to savor the others as well. I'm all about equal treatment, you understand. Overall I would grade the service as 5/5 and the same for their toffees (I somehow managed to miss sampling the barks. I guess that means I have to return to make sure nothing is overlooked). You can order through their website (https://carolinacandy.com/shop/), but do go by and check them out.

They don't serve tea on Sundays, but they did make an exception because my friend was in from out of town and I don't know, they were just amazingly nice so I ate there on Saturday and on Sunday the food was absolutely amazing. The drinks were top-notch the service was fantastic and the atmosphere is perfect for a girls day or a romantic date at night definitely a place to check out.

This review, however, is just for the bakery, as we did not dine in. The bakery case was full of beautiful pastries and French goodies that I just did not know what to get. We settled on an Apple turnover, chocolate croissant, and 3 small raspberry filled donuts. The clerk boxed up our items and rang us up, but the change drawer was a little sparse, so she had difficulty making change for us. They had just opened, but the drawer was not full for the day. Just odd, but not that much of an issue. There are no photos here of the cases because of the signs posted inside not allowing photos or videos to be taken. You have to come in to get a look yourself, I guess, but you won't be disappointed. I'd like to try lunch or dinner, or maybe the high tea, because the menu has some wonderful items listed. The pastries were delicious and buttery, and not sweet. Just a great mouth feel when you take a bite. I will definitely be back for something else.
