Was with a group on Tuesday in Potsdamerplatz and several of them ordered Häagen Daz. I passed knowing that one scoop at the cafe costs about as much as a pint back in the US. I also knew there were other ice cream shops with cheaper, and just as tasty, if not tastier, creations. Lo and behold, I spotted this shop tucked neatly into a well-kept, thriving neighborhood. Lots of great choices for food within such a small area, and this was the sole shop I saw dedicated to ice cream. The pans were overfilled with such mouthwatering deliciousness that I HAD to get some.
The price was €1 per scoop, up to 4. Then there were slight price drops with more scoops for take away (think 10-20 in a box). There were various options with toppings for those with fancier taste as well, but in my opinion great ice cream doesn't need to be dressed up. The flavor choices were great, but the quality is what drew me in. I wasn't wrong either: the smooth texture and strong flavor was superior to the other gelato stands I've been to in Austria and Bavaria. If I make it back to Berlin, I will make it a point to stop back! read more
