Out of all the food in Paris, Geneva, Florence and Rome, this is by far THE BEST by a long shot.
We stumbled upon this sandwich shop and were surprised to see no menu and no prices listed. A sandwich costs $4.00, a plate costs $4.00, and a heaping serving of their fresh handmade pasta costs $3.50. You add your own ingredients to the sandwiches, anything you want. Meat selection: meatballs, sautéed turkey, turkey breast, turkey with omelette inside, roast beef, zucchini stuffed with meat, uncooked meats that they'll grill right then and there for you. Vegetable selection, entirely seasonal: (during the summer), spinach, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, fennel, olives and so much more. Fresh Mozzarella, various fixes and pasta, a fresh chopped fruit section and some dirt cheap drinks top off your meal. They add a generous amount and grill it, like a panini.
We have had:
Sandwich with an omelette, roast beef, zucchini, eggplant (must have)
Sandwich with meatballs, fresh mozarella, cucumbers and tomato
Sandwich with omelette, zucchini, spinach, and three other vegetables
Carbonara (so so so yummy)
A plate with zucchini, eggplant, meatballs and spinach
A plate with turkey omelette, eggplant, some other greens.
They change up the pasta daily and I'm hoping to eat their gnocchi sometime. Do NOT be overwhelmed by the selections. If you're looking for delicious, fresh, local, great customer service, cheap and a satisfying lunch, stop here. You will not regret it!!
Owned by two brothers and their cousins, this family operated butcher turned sandwich shop has been filling local tummies since 1936. Stefan and Fabio arrive at 3:30 every morning to cook seasonal vegetables and hand make the pasta. The store opens at 6:00 and closes at an early 4:30, with packed long lines full of locals from 12-2. read more
