Funny story , Me and 2 co-workers had a day to cruise around Taormina after drinking non stop for a couple hours and stumbled across this beach from a distance. However...... Between us and the beach was 1. Railroad tracks that was surrounded by deep shrubbery , 2. 30 feet of Dense trees and 3. A 6 Foot wall. Being pretty much drunk , we decide in our minds that going thru all these challenges will be worth it to get to the beach. It was worth it alright!! The Sand was amazing and the view was amazing (the beach , the Island , the water , the bikinis). 4 stars for not putting an access point to get there even though we realized this was a private beach with a secret road to get in there somewhere. and 4 stars for crossing railroad tracks while a train was coming. If you also do decide to go to this beach , make sure you have beach attire as me and my co workers had Jeans and shoes and had to cross the water to get to the little Island. There is a little botanical garden once you cross the narrow pathway to get to the Island (which was also cool because it was like you were walking on water!!) but we couldn't enter because we forgot to bring some Money with us because we thought we were going to go swimming in the ocean (In Jeans and Shoes once again). I believe it was 10 Euros to enter the garden in the Island.

Absolutely loved this beach! Beautiful translucent green water, it wasn't crowded when I was there…read moreand I loved the little beach town of Tropea as well. The only thing I would warn against is the sand was much like gravel so if you have water shoes, definitely bring them with you or you will destroy the bottom of your feet. Parking is a bit of a challenge, it's up on a hill and you have to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs. I wanted to visit Sanctuary of Saint Mary 'dell'Isola di Tropea at the top of the hill but ran out of time. Next trip I will spend more time in Tropea, it's absolutely beautiful here!

But it is indeed a beautiful beach with stunning colors. Colors you might expect to see in the Caribbean. From the blue blue to azure and turquoise. Both the beach itself and the water are spotless clean. Too bad you won't see much of the sand due to the number of visitors. There are private sections where you can bring your own umbrella and chairs and some bars/resorts where you can rent some. Some locals even brought their dogs, which I think was nice, but officially it's not legal. The beach is stunning by itself, but backed with the amazing Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Isola it's a really unique sight that has to be seen if you are in Tropea or anywhere close. A real stunner! Parking is a bit of a problem if you hit high season. There's street parking and a big parking lot nearby (some blue zones even and the fee for the parking lot is fair). It's best just to wait in your car instead of driving around. There are always some people leaving, just be patient. As fun and as beautiful this beach is/was, we didn't stay long...cause of the immense crowd. We soon headed back to our beloved Nicotera Marina. The water there is as clean as it is here. The beach is wider and clean as well. Ok, the water doesn't have the same amazing caribbean colors, but still nice and deep blue. And the best part about it: Only a handful of people....even in high season....I kid you not. Maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned it. 'cause it's still a bit of a secret. Two beach chairs and an umbrella set you back only 8 Euros....for the whole day.
