It can take 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level (wear sneakers!) 2. Take the gondola down to the final stop, and understand that you still have to walk some stairs down. It's not ideal for the elderly or those with walking issues. 3. Pull up on your boat! You should have water shoes because this is a rocky beach. No sand. Take your umbrella and chairs. OR, rent some chairs + umbrellas from the various beach clubs along the shore. I think that's the best way to go, because they cleared out their shoreline and it's not at rocky. There are a few vendors on the walk down selling water shoes, hats, and clothes. My girlfriend bought a 10€ hat and it was money worth spent! There are also some pushy salespeople that will try to recruit you to go on a boat excursion, snorkeling, etc. Regardless, do spend at least one day at the beach if you're visiting Taormina. An amazingly well curated well laid out and artifact filled museum which contains probably the 2…read moremost important bronzed figures in all of Europe. This museum for a very low price gets you 5 floors of amazing artifacts leading back from the stone age into the pre modern Roman era. The museum is organized from top floor to bottom floor and has arrows guiding your way through the labyrinth of stone artifacts pottery and architectural pieces which had been recovered from many of the local areas in the South. Every text description on the wall is in both in Italian as well as a very good translated English version that gives a lot of detailed content and historically accurate information. This is not a museum so much to the artifacts but more of a natural history of the region which discusses the migration of different cultures and people into the area over the last 3000 years. The high point of this museum comes when you reach the bottom floor and the immaculate bronzes from 500 years before Christ are on full display. Michael Angelo himself would be jealous and definitely would have studied these pieces as it's clear the artisans of that time and that region had well mastered this material as well as the nature of the well proportioned human body. Staff was extremely friendly and available at information stations on every level and spoke fluent English and gave good directions on all the exhibits. If you're bored of looking at churches and want to learn some real facts archeological or anthropological this is the museum to visit do not miss it.

I came here in November so no problem with the heat. There are tons of artifacts which do help in…read morelearning about Sicily's very rich history. I could have learned so much more if there had been more information displayed in a language that I understand. I can understand some of the Italian but not so much. But resources are limited in Sicily and being a visitor, it is up to me to bridge the linguistic gap. I was in luck that a museum official was giving a tour to what must have been some special tourists and doing so in English. He was kind enough to let me listen in and even ask a couple of questions. That was the bright spot of my visit.

This castle is perched up high on a cliff and for a small fee offers a chance for you to enter. Great photo ops! A steep staircase from the piazza will take you up to the top. Don't miss it!
