We stayed in Nicotera not too far away and came here for a daytrip. We didn't stay that long in the end - simply because it was too crowded.
But it is indeed a beautiful beach with stunning colors. Colors you might expect to see in the Caribbean. From the blue blue to azure and turquoise. Both the beach itself and the water are spotless clean. Too bad you won't see much of the sand due to the number of visitors.
There are private sections where you can bring your own umbrella and chairs and some bars/resorts where you can rent some. Some locals even brought their dogs, which I think was nice, but officially it's not legal.
The beach is stunning by itself, but backed with the amazing Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Isola it's a really unique sight that has to be seen if you are in Tropea or anywhere close. A real stunner!
Parking is a bit of a problem if you hit high season. There's street parking and a big parking lot nearby (some blue zones even and the fee for the parking lot is fair). It's best just to wait in your car instead of driving around. There are always some people leaving, just be patient.
As fun and as beautiful this beach is/was, we didn't stay long...cause of the immense crowd.
We soon headed back to our beloved Nicotera Marina. The water there is as clean as it is here. The beach is wider and clean as well. Ok, the water doesn't have the same amazing caribbean colors, but still nice and deep blue. And the best part about it: Only a handful of people....even in high season....I kid you not. Maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned it. 'cause it's still a bit of a secret. Two beach chairs and an umbrella set you back only 8 Euros....for the whole day. read more
