Lived in an apartment managed by them for 2 years. The apartment was great.
The management was awful.
We were told the apartment would be clean upon our arrival. THAT wasn't true at all. I had to mop the floors FOUR TIMES before there wasn't dirt anymore. And there was hair in the dishwasher when I arrived. HAIR. Why was there hair in the dishwasher? I will never know.
Our property manager Jacklyn always treated us like it was an inconvenience whenever we emailed her about repairs that needed to happen--even though it was her job?
One time she asked us when we would be home so she could schedule maintenance. I told her explicitly that the apartment would be empty between certain hours, so to schedule it after that. I think I said no one will be home until 1 oclock, but that i would be home after that. She called me at 12:30 to tell me that the maintenance guy was there, why was nobody answering the door? And then she was all exasperated as if it was my fault she didn't know how to tell time.
But also she had a key so if it was really so bothersome that we weren't home when we told her we wouldn't be home, she could just have come to the apartment and let the repairman in. Like, you know, a property manager is supposed to do.
I guess it makes sense that it wasn't her job for long, because she left the company without telling us or giving us any notice or a new contact person. We were emailing her for weeks with no response until somebody finally contacted us to tell us she left the company.
Oh, and they don't tell you this when you sign the lease, but you'll never get your full security deposit back, because they deduct a standard amount for cleaning and minor repairs. Which, by the way, is illegal. But whatever.
So basically, the apartment itself was fine, but they really deserve to go out of business. Or at least lose some money for a little while to spur them to get their act together. Don't rent with them. read more
