My granddaughter is taking her first ballet classes at Page Academy…read more The facility is clean and modern. The instructors are really patient with the young children and make the classes interesting, memorable and fun. They are currently prepping the dancers for a spring program. Prices are typical for an hour long activity. We're paying $20 per session. They offer classes for all levels including adult classes. There is a nice waiting area for parents and they can sit and watch the children learn. A restroom is available as well. There is no dedicated parking lot and street parking can be a challenge to find. We parked on a side street.

Her info now reads that they have a spring performance every year at Mamiya Theater, which is untrue. For the past 2 years, it's been held at Kaimuki High School's theater. I was told that it was previously held at the Kroc Center in Kapolei. This past year, the venue and date were changed from Hawaii Theatre to KHS. We were kicked out of the Academy in April and heard through several moms that the class performance in May (which we didn't participate in) was a total disaster. After months of preparation, the dance was changed at the last minute. The kids on stage didn't know what to do, which wasn't a great look. This was exactly my concern in my correspondence with Page and her assistants from January-April. My daughter began coming to Page Academy in January 2024 and did not know any of the basic ballet positions until after the performance in mid-May. For that reason, I did not want my daughter to perform or take lessons that were heavily geared toward practicing for the spring performance. On top of the fees per lesson (approx $20 x 14 weeks), parents need to purchase the costume ($75) and tix to show ($20 per person). Professional photos & videos are extra ($10 per photo, more for the video) and you aren't allowed to use your own camera in the theater. You do the math. Can't wait to return here soon to see what kinds of lies and excuses Page has to share on this business page. I find it hilarious at this point that she's resorted to deflecting and not addressing the issue -- that she kicked out a 5-year-old because of the contract's own unclear policies. I'm done. We are no longer clients here so have nothing else to say about our experience, very little of which was positive. I regret sending my daughter here and hope Page has learned something from this so that if you do enroll your child you all have a better time.

They work with kids as young as 3, I think and all with the patience of a saint - they can put up with crying, stubborn behavior, fear, hesitation, with a smile on their face and a heart of gold! And Ms Shinogu brings great discipline into the class and doesn't put up with nonsense but she does it in a way that is extremely nurturing and caring. She really wants to support all of the students to be the best of themselves. The Tumbling classes can be hard to get into so if you're interested in tumbling, sign up as soon as class registration opens. Ms Gina was very understanding when we were first starting and helped us navigate our way through the classes and now we're there 3 times a week. One tough thing is that participating in the summer performance is very expensive and somewhat cost prohibitive between the participation fee, costume fees, volunteer requirement, and ticket prices. However, dance students are not required to participate in the performance and can still completely participate in the regular classes! The one awful thing about this place is the parking. 1) there is a free lot (register for 1 hour free, after that it's paid) across the small street but it's so hard to find a stall because it's shared with a lot of other places, the stalls are small, and so many cars can't park within the lines, 2) they can ticket you, even if you have paid - they did rescind it but only after I took the time to figure out how to dispute it, 3) there are a few street parking spaces up the hill but hard to get, 4) you can park at the municipal lot but have to allocate enough time to walk across the street, and sometimes that lot is full.

Miranda, the teacher, was especially wonderful--very kind, patient, and great with kids. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does and knows how to make children feel comfortable. I was so happy to find out virtual classes were being offered. I signed up and have been dancing with them since Summer 2020. I am loving it. I danced Tahitian on and off for 6 years, I've danced with 3 different groups. I personally felt like I didn't progress much over the years. However......... let me tell you... Nalini explains how to do moves so thoroughly and it's sooooooooooooo helpful. Sometimes I wonder why my previous instructors haven't given me advice like how Nalini has, but this should show the passion and dedication Nalini has for improving her students' skills no matter what level. What I also enjoy about her classes is that she talks about the culture and history of Tahiti and Tahitian dance. It's so important to keep talking about culture and how it influences our daily lives. This is my own opinion, but I think its a bit irresponsible for someone to practice a cultural dance and not learn its significance & history. Plus, it makes us all better dancers when we fully understand our relationship with culture and dance.

Mariah (now 7) had such an amazing time at concert and already told me she wants to be in every single number next year LOL. I wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for everyone at the studio doing what you do for all of the students. I will definitely volunteer in the dressing room again next year and I will have a better idea of the flow. The concert was amazing as always and well worth it in my family's opinion. We look forward to many more concerts in the future. I noticed this year it was a hard to see the "little ones" perform because they were often behind much taller students or far off to the side. That is the one thing I noticed that could be improved on for next year but not a big deal as hopefully we will have the girls taking more classes next year allowing them to be in more numbers. Thanks again for everything, you are ALL very much appreciated! -Christina & Mariah

Recently, I've noticed that on my account activity, I've been attending a ballet class. I don't attend those classes, and I've been very careful of not entering a class that wasn't my respective class. I asked someone about this and they told me there was a girl in the ballet class that had the same name as me and they would fix it. Fine. Next day, I see it again, I'm being charged for a ballet class. I'm fuming at this point. I call, they say again, it'll be fixed. It doesn't. Nothing I do is getting this issue fixed and I'm sick of having to call everyday because they're not checking the email of who is checking in. Inner city studios are known for having zero parking, but there are actually a few stalls in their lot + street parking + parking @ a nearby shopping center (shh.) - so many different classes for the keiki AND adults. That's right. I know some of y'all secretly want to appear on world of dance and you can fulfill those dreams here. Classes change around every season for the adult classes, but hip hop 1 and street femme on Tuesday nights + hip hop 2 and intro to hip hop on Wednesday nights are here to stay! - all of the instructors are personable! New studios can be intimidating; here's how to navigate this one: 1. The building is a two-story blue building next to Still and Moving Center. Enter through the right door that has a small Honolulu Dance Studio sign on it. 2. You'll see a narrow stairwell on your left. Walk up the stairwell, put your outside shoes on the shoe rack on the top, and slip your dance shoes on (yes, you need indoor shoes specifically for dance, whether that's ballet slippers, jazz shoes, indoor hip hop shoes). 3. Walk over to the registration table on the left and fill out a clipboard to get yourself/your child registered + pay. 4. Wait until the dance instructor calls you in, put your water + belongings on the inner racks, and have FUN! Hope to see you in class!
