In town to see some family for Easter and spotted a taco truck on the side of the highway. Who can say no to a taco truck? Had two pork tacos, two beef tacos, two chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Some seriously good (and cheap!) eats. Everything was fresh and the flavors were amazing. Definitely authentic, definitely worth the stop. Seriously, go here. Also, make sure to add the provided hot sauce!

I moved from NYC to San Francisco years ago and so have tried my fair share of Mexican food around California. This is better than almost all taquerias, and better than all taco trucks, I've tried. The food is fresh and very tasty. The staff is super nice. The setting is clean and pretty with tables in the shade and wildflowers around us (in September). We had: - veggie burrito and they had real veggies in there, not just peppers and onions, excellent burrito. - meat burrito, my cousin was very happy and she's a gourmet chef. - shredded beef quesadilla, more (well-seasoned tasty) meat than cheese, never seen that and now we're spoiled. Enjoy! P.S. The sauces on the table are the real thing: HOTTTT. So use with caution. I couldn't use them at all but I'm a sissy when it comes to Mexican hot pepper sauces..

"MINERO, WHERE WEAKNESS GETS LEFT AT THE DOOR"…read more Review by: David Goggins (Starborn Edition) Most people walk into a restaurant looking for comfort. They want soft chairs, soft foods, soft lives. Not me. I walked into Minero like a man on a mission, dehydrated from a 30-mile ruck, legs on fire, mind crystal clear, and the second I stepped through that door I knew: THIS place wasn't built for the weak. The energy hits you first. A primal hum in the air -- steel, spice, sweat, and discipline. You can FEEL the staff move with purpose. Not fake hustle. REAL hustle. The kind that only comes from people who bleed for their craft. Then the food comes out... Brother... when that plate hit the table, it wasn't "Mexican food." It was a message from the gods. Tortillas that taste like someone's abuela spent 60 years perfecting them. Chicken that's smoked like it survived a war. Rice and beans with the exact frequencies that remind you you're a warrior on Earth School. Flavors that punch you in the soul and ask you, "How bad do you want greatness?" The staff moves like a special operations team. No wasted motions. No complaining. No victims. Just hard workers staying sharp in the heat of battle. You don't come to Minero to "relax." You come here to REMEMBER who the hell you are. To remember that greatness is built in the small details -- how you season, how you chop, how you show up, how you do ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING. And this crew? They do EVERYTHING like it matters. I left Minero feeling fueled, focused, and READY to run another 20 miles barefoot just to honor the food that touched my lips. If you're soft, stay home. If you're living in the shadows, stay home. If you're scared to face your own potential -- stay home. But if you're ready to rise, ready to push past your limits, ready to eat food that carries Starborn frequency, then get your ass to Minero. This isn't a restaurant. It's a training ground for the soul. Stay hard. Stay Starborn.

Google maps sent me to a side corner where I saw cars parked on dirt so I parked there as well…read moresince it was late night and I couldn't really see but Minero actually has a normal parking lot right next to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very cute and would be a perfect place for a date or a fancier mexican restaurant. Although, it felt like more like an American styled restaurant with Mexican food. The servers were extremely sweet but they did not have a good habit of checking our drinks which I would expect from a restaurant in Charleston. They were able to check on my food preferences and were able to adjust the food accordingly. I enjoyed the dips but at the same time usually the chips and dips are free at the Mexican restaurants in charleston. I did order the tres amigo which gave guacamole, salsa and queso which I would not expect for free except for the salsa. The main dish I had I did not enjoy but it was my fault for choosing a Mexican styled hamburger. The meat was a bit too chewy and although it had flavor I was unable to balance it out even with the fries they gave me. The fries were okay although a bit too salty for my taste. I had to wash it down with soda and luckily they were able to refill my drink. I also tried the chicken burrito bowl and I wasn't really a fan of how the chicken tasted. The best part of the meal was the banana pudding tres leches cake. It melted in my mouth and it was one of the better tres leches cakes I've had. I think next time I should definitely try the fajitas or tacos to give a more fair review but at the same time the menu should have everything the restaurant is proud of. Overall, it was a bit more expensive than a normal mexican restaurant but the value was mainly placed into the setting and vibes. If I had to choose a place just for Mexican food I would stick to the local Mexican restaurants, but I would have to say the tres leches is one of the better cakes I've had in the charleston area.

I frequent this establishment quite often with friends and not once over the years I've been going have I had a bad experience or dish. The fried mojarra is my personal favorite to get with fresh tortillas. It's always cooked perfectly, not overdone and flavorful. The street tacos are top tier! And while I didn't get one this time, their skinny margs are some of the best on the peninsula. Highly recommend. It's always very clean and prices are cheap!

Fortunately we were early enough to get a place to sit before the line formed out the door. The biggest complaint was the service. They appeared to be terribly understaffed for even a regular day. Service was sooooo slow. Hard to get even water refills. The food did arrive hot. It was very typical Mexican style food. I had a chicken macho burrito. The chicken was overcooked and it had a two shrimp in the filling. Fortunately I have no allergies to shellfish and actually like shrimp but his could have been disastrous for someone else. The restaurant was very loud and could also use some updates. In spite of the large crowd, and being grossly overworked, the staff remained helpful and friendly to the best of their ability which I give them kudos for considering the situation. Probably won't come back.
