Now, my sister in law complained that it's very loud and echoey- but she had her earplugs and that helped. Service was attentive too. Most of us ordered salads- my husband and I had the chicken chipotle. It was creative and tasty. It's pricey here- $18 for a salad - ouch- but it was for a birthday and she was happy for the celebration.

It's also located inside of an old bank, so we wanted to check this one out. We were seated immediately and received great service. The waitress was new, but already familiar with the menu. She made recommendations and was very attentive. We started with the pretzel and I can't wait for you to see the photo of how huge this thing is! We all three ate some of it, and there was enough for two people left once we were all done. It's massive! For the entree, I had the chicken quesadillas, my husband had the salmon bowl, and my son had the French dip. The food was all very good and if he chooses Dubuque for college, we will definitely be back!

We usually splurge on a special bottle of wine and look forward to it all year. Unfortunately, after ordering, we were told it was unavailable. Disappointed, we selected another option, only to have the bar manager/buyer come to our table a few minutes later to let us know that choice was also unavailable. She apologized and explained they were in the process of changing and downsizing their wine selection while still using the old menu, and she suggested a comparable alternative. Reluctantly, we agreed. While the wine was delicious, it simply didn't compare to our usual. Although we were thoroughly disappointed, the team went above and beyond to make things right and ensure we still had a wonderful dining experience--they even treated us to dessert. Thank you, Michelle, for always being so lovely.

It was the best decision we made that day. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was exquisite, and we were served outside facing the river. The service was also excellent; a lady even spoke Spanish to make us feel more appreciated. I don't remember her name, but I'm very grateful for her kind attention. By the way, I should point out that the portions are very generous.

The spinach dip in the bread bowl with the tortilla chips was amazing. The entrées were delicious. Blue had a sampler of barbecue meat- so good, and I had the jambalaya - hot spicy and really tasty. We tried the chocolate chip bread pudding, which was tasty but very hot. We got it to go because we knew we couldn't eat the whole thing. Lovely place to have dinner on the river. the only downsides were the soups in that clam chowder was thin and had no potatoes. No clams was pretty much warm milk with celery and the beer cheese soup was too thick and a little too cloy, would've been good with the chips from the appetizer.

Tonight we had the watermelon, feta, hot honey appetizer and although only enough for 2 people it was delicious! Highly recommend! The chef side salad rarely disappoints, and comes with homemade bread. Our entrees of Walleye cakes (went especially for these) and BBQ salmon were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. I don't remember ever being disappointed with a meal here! We skipped dessert, but typically the desserts here are homemade in house. Friendly service too!

We sat at the bar and spent the whole meal joking around with the locals and the bartender, which honestly made the visit. The drinks were made well, served with a sense of humor, and the whole place had that comfortable historic Dubuque staple feel. And the pizza is still a win here. We ordered a Canadian bacon and sauerkraut pizza -- and yes, I know I am lucky that Kim likes it too. The pie was made perfectly, tasted great, and even made excellent midnight hotel snacks later. Prices were very fair, the ambiance fits the place perfectly, and it was a great post-spa treat. Shot Tower Inn has that old-school local charm that is hard to fake. The melted mozzarella and ricotta cheese was just perfect. My friend wasn't too impressed with Ala Vinny. She was feeling like the Galena location was way better.
