This time, after many times at Frontier, we came back after a fun time at the saloon at around 10pm, back to our campsite and put our music on for I swear literally 30 seconds. Thereafter, not only did security respond, but the cops were at our site! Just a quick back ground on me....I have NEVER BEEN in trouble by the law or in trouble at all so this was very disturbing and embarrassing to have all this happened in front of my friend's and family, including my kids over something so crazy petty! Literally, and I mean truly literally, over 30 seconds of music on at around 10:15pm at night! I was shocked and not going to lie, I was very defensive because I was so very confused by it it all! When I say 30 seconds of music...Im not exaggerating!! It was truly 30 seconds!! There was no way there was any complaints because we just literally truly just came back from the saloon! This has to be the most craziest encounter I have ever been involved in! It just makes no sense! I felt we were being targeted but just can't understand why!! I will never go back again, which is ashame, after so many great years of memories! I can understand if we were being disruptive for a long period of time but when I mean it was 30 seconds, there is no exaggeration there! I have proof on the timeline of when we got back to our campsite and proof on the music device of when any music started on that device before it was abruptly ended by no reason at all! This has to be one of the most craziest things I have ever encountered! Very disheartening after all these many great years and memories here. Unfortunately, I feel that I have no choice but to end my ties with Frontiertown unless they make it right somehow! I will be filing a complaint!!

This one is on the bay side of the island (hence the name, duh!) and in September, it was still pretty buggy, so absolutely make sure you bring bug spray/netting/etc with you. I've heard the one on the beach side is a little more forgiving in that regard. However, what you get here is a lot more of the ponies. Now, keep in mind that you're supposed to keep your distance, but the ponies themselves do not care. They'll wander into the middle of your camp while you're making coffee to scratch themselves on a cooler. They'll steal food if they can, so make sure you lock everything up in your car. Do you like being awoken by a loud whinny in the middle of the night? This campground is for you. Make sure you bring longer tent stakes for the sandy conditions, and if it's warm, something to block the sun, because most of these sites have little in the way of shade or privacy. They are really great though. The bathroom facilities are good.

This resort is pure mom-and-pop energy. Not some polished corporate chain with cucumber water in the lobby. It's been part of OC since the 1950s and it feels like one of those places where families vacationed as kids, then came back years later with their own kids, and the cycle just keeps going. The whole place runs on nostalgia, tradition, and "remember when?" stories. Everything here is functional and clean but you absolutely get what you pay for. If you're expecting modern luxury, quartz countertops, and Instagram-core aesthetics, head to condo row in north OC and prepare to pay at least 50% more. We stayed here in early May 2026. The outdoor pool was still closed for the season but every other amenity was up and running. One nice perk: all amenities are free for guests. There are signs everywhere saying wristbands are required, although at the indoor pool that rule seemed to be enforced with the intensity of a mall security guard on break. Nobody in our group had wristbands on and half the pool crowd didn't either. Even in early May, the indoor pool was pretty lively without feeling chaotic. While we didn't fully take advantage of it, the pool bar specials were honestly kind of absurd in the best way possible. They had around a dozen beer options (everything from basic to craft) for like $2-$3 each. No exaggeration on that. Not one beer was more than $3. Crushes, cocktails, jello shots, and other drinks were all priced shockingly reasonably too. If you're traveling with a big group, you could easily dedicate an entire day to staying on the property and still spend less than you would almost anywhere else in town. My 8-year-old loved the mini golf course. Is it a little worn down compared to some of the flashy courses nearby? Sure. But it's free, and free mini golf automatically gains at least two stars in my book. They also show two family-friendly movies every evening around 6 PM and 8 PM with complimentary popcorn, which is a nice touch. The arcade had maybe 6-12 games total: skeeball, crane games, Mortal Kombat, a racing game or two, and a handful of random classics. Games do not take quarters and you have to purchase a game card. Honestly, the arcade can be skipped but you walk past it going to the indoor pool. If you want to play arcades, go to the inlet and hit up Playland or Sportland. There's also a small outdoor playground that should easily satisfy kids 10 and under. We stayed in the Pennsylvania building on the second floor. The room itself was comfortable. The shower pressure was a little weak, but perfectly usable. One underrated plus is the sink is outside the bathroom. The room had a microfridge, two queen beds, basic cable, solid AC, and comfortable mattresses. The biggest downside is definitely the thin walls. Sound travels. A lot. Thankfully, most guests were families, so it never felt rowdy in a BAD way. You will hear laughter, small kids yelling, doors shutting, etc. And because it's a family resort with thin walls, some parents seemed to operate under the philosophy of "vacation bedtime is optional" and throw any self-awareness out the window. On Saturday night, there were kids sprinting around the hallways at 11:30 PM while parents yelled at them from somewhere in the parking lot like they were trying to coach a youth soccer practice from three fields away. Zero awareness that other families, likely with small kids, might actually be asleep. Thankfully, we brought a white noise machine, so it wasn't a huge issue for us. But I could definitely see peak summer weekends getting a little chaotic. That said, this may also just come down to my mindset. Even though we live here, if we ever need a quick few-night escape from our house again, we'd probably come back. The value is really hard to beat.

The staff was so patient with getting everyone together, and kept smiles on their faces the entire time. All of the gear looked very new and was clean. Our tour guides were able to give good answers to all of our questions, and taught us all how to catch clams! The check in/out process was super easy, and signing up for our tickets online was a piece of cake. We will definitely be making this an annual trip.

Very close to shopping (The Fins clothing), a coffee shop (HighTides), a bakery (The Pantry - very yummy Italian donuts) and across a restaurant (The Station). I gave a 4/5 stars because it is an old hotel, old furniture, & the suite only had one sink. The pool is small but clean.

It is very quiet with adequate parking. The beach is 200 feet from the back door and was never crowd. Gentle slope into the ocean and life guards gave us a feeling of safety. The private beach area in the backyard allows for private activities but also shared games with the neighbor kids. The pool was clean but not very big and some of the lounge chairs are broken. Shops, restaurants, and theme parks close by.
