One of my favorite restaurants in Macon. The quality is always consistent. The customer service is always on point. Nice lunch special during the week. Love the spinach patties - but they're not always available. The brown stew chicken always hits the spot.

Easy to find. Tight parking. Good service. They don't skimp on the amount of food you get and it's pretty good. I've had the oxtails twice and they've been tender and good. The side of plantains was good too.

Came here on our way to North Florida. Wow! Wish we had a place like this every state we are in. Great service, not skimpy at all on the servings. So many options. I got the jerk and brown chicken combo plate with cabbage, rice and an extra bit of plantain.

The owner's daughter was working the front. She was very personable. I was constantly called "ma'am" and she was very attentive. I ordered the large oxtail plate with a beef patti and a curry chicken patti. This was easily enough food for my partner and I and it was such a large portion I knew we would have left overs. MY INITIAL IMPRESSION WHEN I OPENED THE PLATE WAS... Wow. This is a lot of food. I also thought the gravy looked a bit runny. However I realized once I made it home that it was simply very fresh and it thickened up as it sat. NOW FOR THE TASTE.. It's good. I mean really good. The oxtails are tender and with the gravy are flavored very nice. I could also tell everything on my plate, from the oxtails and rice to the rastafarian pasta and plantains, was served freshly prepared. Or at least it sure tasted like it. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the oxtails and the Patti's. In response to another poster who commented that the food was not authentic - this comment made me almost stay away from visiting the Island Pot because I love 'authentic' Jamaican food. However I'm so happy I still visited the establishment to judge for myself. Here are my thoughts on what's 'authentic'. I'm from the South. I grew up eating southern food. Soul food. I can tell you that very few people prepare a dish exactly the same especially when they arent going by a recipe. I have tasted pumpkin pie and sweet potatoe pie from dozens of people over my life, dressing and cranberry sauce and even burgers. They are all somewhat different. Sometimes I can taste more of one ingredient than the next. I've had oxtails at Jamaican restaurants in Dallas' TX (Ms. Elaine's Restaurant .. Ms. Elaine is from Jamaica and feel free to check out my review and photos of her oxtails) and I've had oxtails in Houston, TX at various soul food restaurants and they were all different but all good. So what makes a dish authentic? I Dont know. I can only judge by taste and these oxtails are fantastic! I paid $21.00 for my meal. It was a good price. And yes I will be returning.

I've only dined here once and I got the oxtail and jerk chicken combination as the brown stew chicken was not ready yet. I didn't receive my plantains but the owners responded and said they would make up for it on a future visit. I really like the taste of their food and they give you enough gravy. They are in my top two locations for Jamaican food.

This is my favorite local Caribbean food. The presentation, quality, flavor and amount of food you get is always worth the money. I'm glad we have a island pot in Warner Robins now, before I would drive to Macon and it was always worth the drive.

This is a family-run, authentically Jamaican establishment. The people working there have Jamaican accents and are nice. They offer all the quintessential Jamaican dishes like brown stew chicken, salt fish with ackee, jerk chicken, Jamaican curry, oxtail, patties, peas and rice, and roti. The lunch specials are very affordable and they pile on the portions. The food is not excessively salty like I've experienced in some other Jamaican restaurants. The setting is casual and clean, and dine-in is an option. I will definitely be coming back!

Ordering a jerk tofu got me one of the more impressive renditions of such a dish I've ever seen, with ample sauteed vegetables and a sauce that delivered a robust, sweet and spicy flavor. The tea I got to drink was also sweet; I wish I had known that in advance as I would have just had water. I tried a coco bread (presumably with coconut milk in it), which was handy for sopping up my sauce but not anything that really jumped out at me. There were a few other vegetable dishes and an extensive selection of juices and Caribbean sodas, so plenty of ways to get the island flavor. This particular culinary tradition isn't all that easy to find in the U.S., so I was happy to have found it here.

My partner had the oxtail and said it was well-seasoned, super tender, and the portion was generous--though a bit on the pricey side. The cabbage was also really good--not the best we've ever had, but definitely solid. As for me, the rice and beans were just okay. The texture was a bit mushy and it lacked the bold, seasoned flavor you typically expect from Caribbean rice and peas. The mac and cheese, however, was a standout. Creamy, flavorful, and hands down one of the best parts of the meal--right up there with the cabbage. The brown stew chicken was good, but I've had better. It was tender, just needed a little more seasoning to really hit the mark. Felt like it was missing a little something. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and I'm definitely looking forward to trying more items on the menu!

The jerk chicken had a great kick, which was exactly what I was looking for, and the rasta pasta slapped. It was creamy and flavorful. Honestly, the best side option, and I wish I opted for more of that. Better than the mac n' cheese, which I found to be alright. I have been to other places that include rice, but the meal here doesn't come with rice, so you have to choose it as a side. Not that it's necessary since there's rasta pasta right there. It's not a particular big place, but you can definitely eat here. When I visited, it was empty but busy because most people seem to opt for takeout here. I wish that the person at the front was a little more helpful with the difference between a medium and a large. I understand it's more food, but is the container bigger? Or is it another scoop or portion of meat? Does making it a large mean the sides are more too? I don't know, I was only told it was more food. I got the impression that I was being annoying, and I should hurry up and order, so I did. Not the best experience, so it's a good thing the food makes up for that.

My husband got the jerk chicken. His taste hadn't returned fully so he couldn't tell me if what he had was good or not lol. I however thoroughly enjoyed my oxtails. They were flavorful, tender, and the portion size was hefty. I ate off this plate for three days. I think the price point was average for Jamaican food. The rice and peas were good, but just a little greasy from the oxtail gravy. I also was hoping the rice would have a more coconutty flavor than it did. The Mac and cheese had a really good flavor, it was nice and cheesy and they had some kind of pepper in there. The greens were alright, about as good as you can expect for a restaurant, nothing like homemade though. I would definitely like to come back to try their jerk chicken and rum cake.
