The process of purchasing a home can be stressful. There are forms/contract to be reviewed, signed…read moreand timelines to be made in the process. An area that helps the buyer in determining the purchase is the home inspection. We contracted Pacific Inspection Group to help us with the home inspection and lead paint testing. Our decision to go with this company were three fold. The first was the positive reviews on Yelp. The second was their ability to do the certified home inspection and lead paint testing. And third, the quick response and service they provided. They were able to do the home inspection within the timelines. Tom (owner) was quick to answer our many questions. He was able to schedule our inspection within our timeline and assigned Scot who did the inspection of this home. The report was done electronically. It was thorough with descriptors, pictures, and standard grading. The report summarized marginal areas that would need addressing. Pacific Inspection used a systemic approach in their assessment. Scot called me after completing the inspection and went over some of the findings. He also shared the lead paint sampling and where he took them. We received an official home inspection report that evening. The lead paint sampling was sent out to a Pro-Lab site in Texas. That test took about two weeks. We are happy with the service that Tom and Scot at Pacific Inspection Group provided. We would highly recommend them to family and friends who are in need of a home inspection. We know they would provide a honest and thorough inspection of the home.

NO ALOHA! Absolutely unprofessional & lazy inspections. Scot did an inspection on the home I just…read morepurchased and it was apparent that he was doing the bare minimum. He didn't even bother to go in the upstairs attic. All he did was point out the obvious and blindly walked through the home. I chose to go through them because according to their website they claim to offer "the most thorough, detailed, and professional inspections on the island". Which is the complete opposite of what I received and paid for. After I got the keys to the home I learned that the toilet leaks when it flushes, the tub diverter doesn't work, kitchen faucet doesn't work, several bedroom outlets were missing and inoperable, and all the GFCI plugs didn't work as well. So I called Tom the owner and he was blatantly disrespectful and careless. Not once did he try to apologize or show any understanding. He told me that they don't check all the electrical outlets and they due random checks. Then he lied and said my water pump didn't work so that's why he couldn't check all my plumbing. But yet, the inspection pictures clearly shows water coming out of my bathroom faucets. When I brought up the promises stated on his website he told me "you should've paid $2,500 for a more through inspection". So I guess he's in the business of ripping people off and taking advantage of locals. I politely asked for a refund and he told me "No, and you can take any legal action you want and just to let you know I have sued for defamation in the past". Well, that statement explains a lot. What a sorry excuse for a business owner. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had. Not only did I pay for horrible service, now I have to pay for all the issues the inspector carelessly overlooked. I will be sure to warn all my friends and family of this. Hilo is a small community, you would think he would have some integrity as a business owner. I am so disgusted.

my wife selected this company because of customer service from initial inspection (Patrick). I…read moretrusted this company because Patrick was the only one who crawled under the house and took pics of ground termite tunnels. the next highest bidder only stayed about ten minutes and did dot crawl under the house. the other two bidders did not crawl under the house also. when the termini work crew showed up the senior guy gave tips on preventive maintenance against future infestation. we took the maintenance contract as well and I want to see how that works when they come back to check the bait stations. also, this company has been in business for over 95 years so I am assured it is not a "fly by night" company. And yes, they are expensive but would you escape Cuba in a rowboat or a cabin cruiser?

I asked what happens if the contractor is careless and causes damage, Sarah told me they would take care of it. the third party contractor was careless. they throw ladders up against the edges of my newer metal roof, causing damage, dropped heavy rolled up tarps on my roof and bent down a portion of my newer rain gutter. I texted Sarah about the damage. after two weeks of trying to get a reply, she texted that her boss said I needed to read the damage waive. I bought a one year renewable warranty, but was never given a copy of the warranty. all you have to do is read their long list of horrible reviews.
