The new location is designed from the ground up to house the show pieces and exhibits. Everything from the previous location is there, but nothing is crammed in. Having been a member of two of the squadrons featured there, I really enjoy visiting the exhibits of the two squadrons I served in. But there is a lot more to experience! The only downfall of the new location is that the PBY Catalina hasn't made the journey from Pioneer Way to Ault Field. YET! The management assured me, every time I ask, they are working on it and hope to have it join the rest of the exhibits soon.

Gem of a little museum that really could use your support!…read more THE ROSES: The PBY Memorial Foundation museum is dedicated to the men who flew PBY 'Catalina' flying boats from the nearby Oak Harbor seaplane base (now a municipal marina). For it's small size, it has a very well curated selection of artifacts and interactive displays. Particularly touching is a table set in remembrance of our POW/MIAs. Enthusiastic and well-informed volunteer staff are available to answer questions, but don't overwhelm you. Be sure to check out the PBY-5a Catalina across the street. THE THORNS: These guys really need a bigger facility. THE VERDICT: Superb little museum is a definite 'must visit' for history buffs. Highly recommend!

Of Sea & Shore was located in the general store that they have there. The actual store was packed but we were the only two who checked out the museum at the time. Needless to say, it was pretty interesting! Probably one of the highlights of the trip. They have a nice collection of a large variety of sea animals (which I have an interest in. They just look so much like aliens!) And they give you the explanation of most of the creatures there, so you'll definitely learn something! I really suggest anyone who goes over to Port Gamble to check this museum out. Especially anyone with children! It's a great experience and who can argue with the price being free?!

Hibulb is absolutely worth the time. I am a fan of tribal history and arts, worldwide. There is so much to learn from the past. I greatly appreciate the artistry, with emphasis on the stories and meanings behind each work. Native American arts, especially carvings, are so potent in their story telling. Hibulb did a fantastic job with their many signs, photos, sharing tales and appreciation of nature. I wish they have a museum book in the gift shop. Things not to miss: - Sit in the Longhouse room and watch the video. - Observe the military service of the Native Americans. - Look closely at the two welcome statues; see below the feet of Kaya. - Enjoy the old restored totem poles and the associated signs for their meanings. - Learn about using cedar trees in different ways (without cutting them down) and later see photos that they are passing on the knowledge to the new generations. - Find the touch and feel boards. Based on museum size and scale, 4 Stars. For what the place represents with past, present, and future of the Tulalip tribes, 5 Stars!

Nice little art-glass shop provides visitors with a delightful glass-blowing experience…read more THE ROSES: Located in what appears to be an old fire station, Callahan's Firehouse is a nicely laid out shop with a good selection of glass pieces, some functional, and some purely ornamental. The staff is very pleasant, and you really feel like your business is appreciated. The real attraction here is the glass-blowing experience they offer. For $95, you get a half-hour experience one-on-one with a master glassblower, and you get to create one of four pieces (fishing float, paperweight, large tumbler, or bowl) that you get to keep. The artisan has set up a system where you simply cannot fail: you are carefully assisted and coached through each step from the point where a glob of molten glass is drawn from an oven to the final forming of your treasure. Excellent safety protocols are in place; anytime the hot glass is being moved from one station to another, the guest stands in one of two 'safe spots'. When finished, you have a wonderful keepsake that you helped make yourself! The artisan is a natural teacher, who does a wonderful job of putting the student at ease and sharing fascinating information on the techniques of glassblowing. It is a special treat to see how well he works with children (Yes, even kids can blow glass here!). THE THORNS: Selection of pieces to purchase tends towards the 'folksy', IMHO. No real artistic envelope being pushed here. This is no Pilchuck Studio, but you don't have the pretensions either. THE VERDICT: Middling art-glass shop really shines with the addition of a 'hands-on' glassblowing experience that walk-in visitors can enjoy. Five well-earned stars from this Yelp Elite. Highly recommend!
