Windermere Real Estate - We CLEARLY saw the leak as you can see in this photo. Ignored by Windermere.

I thought working with a property management company would be the right way to go to avoid creepy…read morelandlords as a young female. Boy was I wrong. The staff at Windermere were dishonest to me and my roommate about the state of the home we were to move into. There was mold building up in the laundry room and the wall was falling apart due to a water leak. Issues that WE discovered ourselves. The leak was clearly visible to the human eye; my roommate took photos as soon as she saw the leak and we let Windermere know of the issue. Of course, this was after we had already paid $4,400.00 and signed our lease. These issues were completely ignored by all who did an "inspection" of the place. The mold is a huge concern of ours, as it should be. I had requested a professional mold test on December 17th but that request was never acknowledged and there was no follow-through. The people at Windermere made it seem like the mold was "no big deal". One of their staff members tried to tell us it was "lint stuck to the wall." That was very insulting because all photos show it is, in fact, mold. She also kept defensively talking over us, like our concerns were not valid and she had to "defend, defend, defend". She said something along the lines of, "when we complete our inspections we don't break open walls to look at their pipes.!" as an excuse. Well guess what, I didn't break down any walls either and I saw the water leak OUTSIDE of the walls. My roommate and I were not and have not, been living in the home due to the hazardous conditions. This company was not honest and scammed us out of money along with the landlord they represent. Had we known about these issues prior, we would never had signed the lease or given any money until the issues were addressed. It completely baffles me how all of these issues came about once the landlord and Windermere had our money and a signed lease. We were hopeful when we spoke with Paula at Windermere who said she would advise the landlord to forgive our January rent due to the living conditions. The landlord said "no" and that the conditions were "livable". And that was that. It's shocking because I keep thinking "Doesn't he want a good relationship with his tenants?". However, the landlord had to "drive 1,000 miles and take time off of work" due to him wanting to complete the repairs himself. That information was used by the landlord and Windermere as a tactic for us having to pay rent for a hazardous home. It was his choice to do the repairs when there were plenty of capable contractors right here in the community who would have completed the job within the week. It took a month for this guy to fix issues he ignored for a long time. This has been a terrible experience for me and I have 0 respect for Windermere Property Management and the landlords they represent and choose to defend. Now, if you can excuse me as I write a check for $2,200 for a house where I have not lived in over the past two months. This is due to Windermere's lack of anything regarding the mold test and the lack of urgency regarding the mushy wall in the laundry room. It's truly just the principle of the situation and I feel frustrated, and I am lacking hope for my living circumstances. 2025 is rough and I believe we all need to help each other out, not take advantage. And that is what Windermere did and does. All - Use caution and complete your own inspection before signing a lease agreement or giving any money. This company will lie to you and scam you and think nothing of it.

This is for the renter's side of their business…read more They charge tons of fees - $50 per person for the application, $20-25 for each pet, and when the first application came back with no results on the credit score they asked us to submit a new application, with new fees. They promised to refund the first application fees via email, and did not. All in all just applying cost us (two people + pets) about $300. Windermere did not even want to manage the property I was applying to and dropped the owner of the house as a client AFTER I paid all the fees - I was in touch with the owner and she was bewildered - it sounded like they have never wanted to take the property over and are so unscrupulous that they operated like they would just to get the application in. Read the other reviews. At best they are expensive, at worst they are fraudulent. It's so hard to avoid them because housing is tight here, but you will surely pay more in the end if you choose them out of desperation. They rely on you not going to small claims court or hiring legal to keep being scummy.

We started searching for a house over a year ago but were (unexpectedly) hamstrung by our landlord and lease. For this reason, we had to postpone our search and resume about 9 months later. Cary remembered us and the type of home we were hoping to buy. She was communicative through the entire process and I came to realize that, even if it wouldn't benefit her, she would always give us her honest opinion and thoughts about any question we asked. She probably could have talked us into buying a home several months ago, but was committed to making sure we got just the *right* house. Cary knows the ins and outs of house sales. She is willing and competent to answer any question a buyer might have. She is ready to show a home the moment a client expresses interest and really strives to understand her clients' needs and wishes. We are very grateful for her and for the help she provided us from beginning to end. I cannot recommend her more highly to those who are beginning their home search.

I am writing from across the country after receiving a check with the remainder of our security…read moredeposit. I had been waiting to hear and pretty much got what I expected based upon other reviews and opinions regarding Eric and his company. To give some background, I am a military member who was attempting to arrange housing for me and my family while I was deployed. This was the only option for my family that I could afford due to lack of base housing. When I arrived, I noted the poor condition of the home (roof, landscaping, carpets, etc.). Despite Eric's claims otherwise, about 25% of the window screens were there (mostly bent and damaged) and the others were missing entirely. Luckily, I didn't really care as the summers are mild enough and it didn't become a factor. I'll come back to this. Throughout our entire time renting here a number of issues came up with the home. From plumbing, to door fixtures (many), as well as major dishwasher and oven problems. At one point the back bushes needed major trimming, so Eric came to the house while I was at work and my wife was home. He asked to use my extension cord for his machine. I came home to find the trimmings all over the backyard and my extension cord where he left it - NOT where he found it. That's just a little taste as to the type of person he is. He does things halfway and relies on others to take care of his mess. Fast forward two years and I deploy. Of course, the dishwasher decides to have issues as soon as I leave. This is a major appliance, especially in a house with 3 children. It took MONTHS for them to fix it. Months. Finally is was fixed after multiple visits. Next the stove decides to go. Again, takes forever to have it fixed. It took me telling them that we are resorting to cooking all of our meals in the microwave in order to light a big enough fire under them to care and have it relaxed. I have never had an issue with a property management company in my life - and I've dealt with many. To be honest, I had to go over everything he did while I was there to make sure it was done properly or at least to a satisfactory livable level. Most things I wouldn't even call on them for because I knew it would take forever, so I bit the bullet snd handled myself. Fast forward again to a week prior to us leaving. A team from Keller Williams as well as Aleesha Cleveland come to the house for a walkthrough as the homeowner made the smart decision to sell the property. The house was 99% packed up so I used this opportunity to ask Aleesha if there was ANYTHING that I should focus on ESPECIALLY cleaning. Her words were, "we're not too picky. You don't need to go crazy cleaning. Everything looks pretty good." I pointed out items that I had mentioned previously that were never fixed, to include window screens, and she seemed fine with it all. I asked again if there was anything standing out to her. The answer was no. So my wife cleaned the house best she could, I patched holes and dod various things to make it look nicer and we prepared to move. Our plan was to leave on a Friday morning early. They refused to allow us to do the final walkthrough Thursday evening (even though the house was empty and we all slept on the floor) and told us it was no big deal that they would do it Friday after we left. Due to it being a VERY short notice move, I had to agree to this, despite being very uneasy about it given the poor reputation of the company, especially with regards to security deposits. Continued in the pictures!

Island Premier managed our rental while we were out of the area and the phrase "no news is good…read morenews" definitely doesn't apply to them. Being out of state, we relied on them to ensure that our house was being maintained and well cared for. However, many things included in our contract were not carried out - gutter cleaning, annual walk-throughs, etc. We have had to do many repairs including fixing visible plumbing leaks that resulted in water damage to the bathroom (consistent with long-term damage) and repairing roof leaks. When an issue was reported to them, we'd receive urgent phone calls insisting we authorize repairs that instant as the company was already there to fix it. While we would never decline a repair, advance notice would have been appreciated especially considering the time it takes to get appointment scheduled and the cost involved. I could continue, but you get the picture. Basically - if you have other options, go with them.
