I attended the Janmashtami festival yesterday and I cannot say enough how well organized it was with a streamlined process. I had a peaceful darshan and a scrumptious free dinner. The free valet parking enabled the many devotees to attend the grand b'day celebrations of lord Krishna. Donations are highly encouraged to maintain the quality and standard of this non-profit temple. Its a must visit for all hindu devotees in the city of Chicago!! read more

I have been here a couple of times. I am not a big religious person or anything but, I wanted to check this place out. I had a wonderful time and everyone made me feel welcome. There was no "conversion talk" like other places. You can get a vegetarian lunch for free or almost nothing on Sundays. They do not ask you to spread the word of Krishna if you eat there. All they ask is you help your fellow humans. I love places that do not try to convert you. I will definitely go back again. I think one of the devotees hit on me the last time I went there.....nothing like a little flirting with the Hare Krishna devotees....may be he can teach me how to do their dance... But seriously, this place brings calm and peace to my soul. I feel at peace as soon as I step in.....there were days when I just sat on the floor and read a book while watching the devotees sing and dance in prayer. read more

Krishna Lunch provides delicious, affordable, HUGE portions of authentic, healthy, and vegan friendly Indian food to college campuses and neighborhoods around the Chicago area. I can't believe I haven't reviewed them sooner! For $5, you get a styrofoam box, napkin, and plastic spoon. When you open the styrofoam box, a *very* generous portion of rice, entree, and dessert is apparent. I have a huge appetite and can eat the whole box, but usually regret the decision and am stuffed. If you have a smaller appetite, these boxes can easily last two or three meals. My favorite is the paneer dishes and gulab jamun, or fried rice dishes with carrot halwa. read more

I also don't follow the krishna teachings, but I'd like to second the awesome vegetarian food. Beyond that, they're decent people. The neighborhood can be kinda sketchy at times, and it's really nice to see another organization devoted to peace and consciousness here. read more

You can't beat the quality, flavor, and nutritional value for the low cost of $5 per lunch, which includes the entree and a dessert item. The vegetable biryani is my absolute favorite. It is delicious and prepared with a thoughtful mix of ingredients and garnishes that shows the extra care that is put into the cooking as well as the skill. I don't miss an opportunity to order it and several other favorites each week. I haven't been to the temple, but I can say that the vegetarian lunches that ISKCON serves at Illinois Institute of Technology are top-notch. The meals are delicious, affordable, and varied. I can't say enough good things about the biryani in particular! Iskcon temple is great. I would highly recommend 1/2 pujaris/prabhujis to visit Sri Venkateswara Temple in Aurora to see how nicely the temple manages prasadam, whereas i attended the lecture from maharaj till the end but didnt get any prasadam - prasadam was over! Saw people going directly n eating prasadam without even attending lectures/bhajans... kalyug! You may charge for prasadam but dont let genuine people who visit temple for entire spritual experience down... read more

I have been to this temple a few times. This place is simply amazing , all that you would want, great people, Amazing music and dance, and mind blowing vegetarian feast, for free !!!! No talk of converting , just be yourself and participate in the program... I had also been to one of their Rath Yatra Festivals , it is a all day event at the chicago beach.. nothing to complain, would absolutely recommend everyone to visit. read more

The Krishna lunch at Northwestern is great. The people who run it are super friendly, and it's only $5 for a ton of food! I'm not even vegetarian and I get it all the time. The various paneer dishes and the vegetable biryani are my favorites. You can sign up to get the menu for the week emailed ahead of time in order to help with planning out lunch options each day. There aren't too many food choices near the Tech building so I really appreciate that they do this every day. read more
