I didn't touch the Prashad because of the way milk is left outside in the shoes area. Dirty rice cookers just placed willy nilly on the pathway that we use to walk around the deities. The priest was doing Abhishek and tossing milk cartons in front of the seated devotees. It just is so hard to feel spiritual and cleansed if you're surrounded by human disorder. Please go take a look at other temples to know how to conduct yourselves when doing an Abhishek. A pile of growing trash tossed out of the sanctum is hardly a spiritual experience. I wish the shoes area was clean as well but it's not. It's a mess. Please teach your staff to treat a holy area with some respect. As Hindus, we think it's wrong to find fault with a holy place but this review is strictly about how mismanaged everything over here is. It's about the disrespect shown by its people, not the deities.

Take a turn onto Arrowhead Avenue and suddenly there's this giant structure that looks straight out of India. What I really like about this temple is that it was built to be a Hindu temple -- it's not a converted church, like some of the other temples I've been to (which are also nice, in their own way). People have donated a lot of money to keep the temple looking authentic and well-maintained. I like going inside the main building and visiting all the murtis in their little houses. It is the suburbs, after all. Even the deities have nice cribs.

The main hall was locked because it was weekend but the entrance hall and the bathrooms were in horrible shape. The building is falling apart, inside is dirty and smells bad and so much random stuff in the entrance hall. They are now adding more parking because apparently they have a big congregation. It's a shame that so many people come to pray here but they do not take care of the masjid, which should be inviting and peaceful. The situation of most masjid in the US is unfortunately not that different. Always feel bad bringing my kids along!

I happened to discover this masjid by accident…read more Yes, as one reviewer mentioned, it may be run by a family and has a very informal setting, but it really does not matter to me, as long as the place is kept clean, and I don't feel unwelcome to say my prayers. And it is always easy to criticize. I applaud the few that started this mosque when they started, as it must not have been easy at that time. As it is, keeping a functioning mosque in these times is hard. And the few times I have been able to go there, the place was clean (for wadhu/ ablution) and cleanliness depends on individuals and how they leave the place. I am only grateful that if I happed to be there around prayer times, there is a place for me to go to.

The men pray in the front and women towards the back. Jummahs khutbas are very funny, and to the point where anyone can understand. He uses real life examples. There are quite few converts that come to the masjid mostly men. Zikr is amazing, its a full house it consists of meditating, gathering in a circle with soft drums playing and remembering Allah swt. At the end of the night consists of dinner.
