I was on vacation in Chelan when my dog started limping and licking his paws. After a few days of…read morethis, I decided to not wait until I was back on the west side. I'm so glad I didn't wait because Dr Shelton and the folks at the Lake Chelan Veterinary Hospital are above and beyond... 1) Dr Shelton is everything you'd want in a Vet (and much more): attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and conscientious of pet owners' finances. He completely put my (normally grumpy) pup at ease. He took more time that I expected to make sure I understood and was satisfied with my pup's health and any next steps. 2) They are convenient: I got an appointment the same day I called. 3) It was clear Dr Shelton builds rapport with his customers: everyone coming and going seemed to have some kind of 'hello' or positive interaction with him. I highly recommend this practice. I'd take my dog back to Dr Shelton in heart beat.

I can't say enough awesome things about this clinic. Dr. Shelton is exceptionally compassionate and…read morecaring. He came highly recommended to me by my vet in Issaquah, Wash., when we moved to Chelan last year. Dr. Shelton listened carefully and thoughtfully to me, the customer, and in fact asked specifically how much treatment I really wanted for my geriatric 19-year old kitty when I brought him in before proceeding with any tests or examinations. He explained things thoroughly and respectfully and offered several treatment options for his condition. His goal and mine were to make my kitty as comfortable as possible until he was ready to go. The staff at this clinic are the cream of the crop. They truly love animals. They are caring, kind and thorough. They called regularly to check on my kitty's progress and offered to be available if I needed them in an emergency. I would highly recommend this clinic and this staff of professionals.

They were knowledgeable, kind, and patient. If we lived in the area we would make them our regular vet. They called to check in with us to make sure she was doing well and made a plan to make sure we were set before we could get home to our regular vet. I don't know why other reviews were talking about the front desk person being unfriendly. Everyone I spoke to was kind I would recommend using them.

1 Star I had an…read moreextremely upsetting experience with Omak Animal Hospital and would not recommend them. Last week, my 14-year-old Yorkie was in critical condition. I called around desperately trying to find help and was told by Becky I had to pay $130 upfront just to be seen because it was considered an emergency. After arriving, we waited about 45 minutes while my dog continued to struggle. When we were finally seen, the vet provided a high-cost estimate that only addressed symptoms and did not give us clear guidance on whether this was end-of-life. Then we were told the clinic was closing for lunch and we could return later--but likely wouldn't be seen again for hours. At that point, we left because our dog needed immediate care. We went to Okanogan Veterinary Clinic instead, where they got us in right away and treated us with compassion and honesty. We ultimately had to put our dog down. The situation got worse afterward. A week later, Omak Animal Hospital called demanding payment for labs. When I called to pay the $200 bill, Becky told me it was now $250 because they had "held a spot" for me. She also claimed my initial $130 payment had been reversed (which I did not do), She accused me of stopping my bank from payment, and said I owed $200 plus additional fees of 50$ because they held a spot for us! When I tried to resolve the situation and pay what I owed, Becky transferred me to Cindy, who was immediately rude, talked over me, and threatened collections and small claims court. She also said she didn't trust me to call back and pay, even though I was actively trying to pay during that call. This experience was stressful, unprofessional, and completely lacking compassion--especially during a time when I had just lost my dog. I strongly suggest going somewhere else for care.
