January 9th was our last night of our Philippines Family Vacation and what a great place to have our going away dinner. Thank you to our family for taking us here and for making our last evening in the Philippines a memorable one. Isdaan is a sight to behold and is definitely a destination restaurant if you're in the Tarlac area. This type of restaurant would be a success in the United States because social media conscious Americans would love the many aspects of Isdaan.
Isdaan in Tagalog, the Philippines national language, means aquarium. Immediately as we parked our van, I got the impression that this restaurant had a seafood theme. Isdaan is a manmade fish related themed restaurant with its ponds filled with koi fish, large fish sculptures, bamboo huts where diners sit, bamboo bridges throughout, and fish poles exhibited as decor. As you enter the outdoor restaurant, you're able to put on leis, which lends to the islander theme. Although this restaurant presents itself with the seafood theme, that is not all it has as attractions. As I was exploring the restaurant, there was so much to see and do that I had sensory overload. Isdaan is truly a place where you cannot forget your camera because you'll be taking pictures left and right. There's Disney sculptures, Filipino actors statues, animal statues, a huge Asian themed statue, and an American First Couple, President and Mrs. Obama. One popular attraction that my family got a kick out of was the stress wall. At this stress wall, you can purchase ceramic cups and plates in order to relieve stress by throwing them at this wall painted with examples of what stress you're trying to relieve. Lastly, two popular things that Isdaan offers are singers who will serenade to your party and inexpensive massages.
If I hadn't consumed so much Filipino food during our family vacation prior to our visit to Isdaan, I would have enjoyed the scrumptious food that came out in droves. We were a party of 16, but we ordered enough food to feed an army, enough so that we had a lot of takeout. The Isdaan menu consists of typical Filipino fare such as pancit, sisig, shanghai lumpia, fresh lumpia, fried rice, pork belly, shrimp, and calamari, all of which we ordered. The highlights for me were the sisig and pork belly. With Isdaan being a seafood themed restaurant, I don't remember seeing that much seafood on the menu. As I said earlier, I was done with Filipino food because of how much Filipino food we ate during our entire trip. If this had been my first day in the Philippines, I would have went to town eating the delicious and well prepared food. Everytime our servers brought a dish to our table, it seriously was like a culinary work of art. Not only did it look appetizing, what I ate was very tasty. Before you venture to Isdaan, you have to keep in mind that it is an outdoor restaurant. The humidity can be discomforting, there will be insects attracted to the water, and we got acquainted with some lizards that hovered on the roof of the hut we were eating in.
I would highly recommend Isdaan for all the fun things you'll see and for the delectable food you'll consume. To thoroughly enjoy the food, I recommend that you visit Isdaan in the beginning of your trip instead of the end. read more
