    Taylor ham sandwich

Decent bakery. Breakfast sandwiches are underwhelming. Just paid $9 for a pork roll sandwich and there was 1 piece of pork roll on the sandwich.

Isabel's in the center of Avalon on the Jersey Cape

Down in Avalon on the Jersey Cape is the upscale resort of Avalon.  Famous for its ample sand dunes in many parts of the beach, it also has a nice commercial district with a fine eatery called Isabel's.  Isabel's is a casual but friendly spot to go for breakfast, lunch, and the occasional pop-up dinners they might offer.  But I go for the pastries which are among the very best on the whole Jersey Shore.  Their varied choices of sticky buns are moist and rich, the crumb buns are among the tastiest I have ever eaten, and their iced cinnamon rolls are full of flavor.  If it's okay to every once in a while undergo a sugar overload, Isabel's is a great place to fill that need.

Isabel's is an adorable cafe right in the heart of Avalon's business and entertainment district. It is not upscale, new, or updated by any means, but it's clean and comfortable. They have a large selection of both baked goods and desserts, as well as lunch and dinner selections (on selected times/days in the Summer.) All of the workers are incredibly helpful and pleasant. There are tables both inside and out for dining. Though you have to order at the counter, they will bring your food out to your table when it is ready. My first trip to Isabel's I got the Roast Turkey & Cranberry panini. It is sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, brie cheese, and lettuce on a baguette roll and pressed as a panini. It is not a traditional panini that most will be used to, as it's a long roll and not as crispy... but it's very good. The sandwich was filling. I also grabbed a chocolate cupcake to go. It was okay. Nothing super exciting or life changing. My second trip to Isabel's was strictly for baked goods and I grabbed a few of their large sugar cookies (Celebration cookie) for my kids. They were also okay. A bit dry for my kid's liking, but the flavor was good.

Hate to say that we were completely underwhelmed by Isabel's. We tried one of the quiches and the pesto breakfast sandwich. Neither tasted fresh and both were very pricey for what they were. The coffee was self serve which I was fine with and had a nice flavor. I don't like to bash establishments but with so many other choices in walking distance I don't think that we will be going back to Isabel's

Really disappointed there was a total of 1 slice of bacon (split up into 4 tiny pieces..) on my breakfast sandwich

Really disappointed there was a total of one slice of bacon (split up into 4 tiny pieces..) on my breakfast sandwich..? Not worth the money at all

    Just some of the deliciousness!

I think your experience at Avalon Coffee is completely dependent on time and day…read more That said, given the popularity of this spot during peak times, and the fact that it's a longstanding business, I was really disappointed in the disorganization in what I hoped would be a quick and easy visit to Avalon Coffee. I popped in on a summer Friday morning, and you can tell this is one of, if not THE, spots to hit up for your coffee run. When you walk in, there's a line for baked goods and a line for drinks. They have a great variety of bagels and pastries, but there's was an entire display case of baked goods near the check-out that you would never see if you're in the designated baked goods line. There were lots of staff (read: teens and college students) running around behind the counter, but only a handful seemed to be actually serving customers. The baked goods line grew out the door quickly due to multiple large orders of bagels, and only one staff member taking orders. Once you receive your baked goods, I guess you have to get in the coffee line? Except the coffee line was more of a coffee blob. With multiple specialty drink orders, there was a number of confused costumers. We couldn't tell who had been helped, who was waiting to order, and who was in line to pay. I came to Avalon Coffee for what I thought would be a simple order: an iced black coffee and plain croissant, and despite being one of maybe 6 customers when I walked in, it took over 15 minutes. The coffee was good, but the croissant was dry, and it was not worth the confusion and wait that it took to acquire. Because it was so disorganized, the line built up quickly and was out the door by the time I paid (which was a third, separate line?) Honestly, unless it's non-peak time, I don't see me suffering through the chaos for a plain black iced coffee. I always support local, and I loved the ambiance and accessibility of Avalon coffee, but the experience left much to be desired.

Staff is not very helpful nor guides the crowd on where to go for what line etc. For example, we only got coffees but it was really weird how the food lines was even going and if people were even taking your order. Coffee was definitely the best - flavorful and good. Did not try the food. Definitely dependent on what time and day you go for your quality of service.

This clean and well-managed pastry and breakfast spot was very good. It is much cleaner and more…read moreefficient than your run of the mill place for a breakfast sammy. The line moves quickly because of several registers and a few hand held order entry devices. The young girl taking my order repeated it back to verify it. You pickup your coffee inside and your food from a window outside. Smart to get people out of the building while they wait. They have several people making coffee drinks so the wait is a few minutes at most. You get a text when your food is ready. Parking is always a challenge on SIC so swing around onto E. Landis because there are a few parking spots. We had a sausage, egg and cheese and a bacon egg and cheese and a dark road coffee with a shot of espresso. Everything was very good, although pricey. Breakfast sammies are my go-to move when I'm on vacation. I've had hundreds in many places and feel I'm qualified to nit pick. It looks like they pre-cook a lot to cut down the wait time. The bacon could have been crispier. Too much cheese on both. The eggs should be a little runny. The sausage sammy only needs one patty and not two and maybe one that is thinner. I didn't have any pastries, but they looked very good. My score is based on service, coffee, breakfast sammies. My above order with a half-dozen bagels was $45.
