Listen, I read through these reviews and I can't argue with them if they've had some of the negative experiences described. However, this is a dealership and there is a level of markup associated with their labor and parts...it's how they make money. Still, my experience was positive. I've been waiting for my boat since last summer. Raj, my salesman, has been great. The rest of the staff are positive and enjoyable folks through my interactions...I enjoy when they poke fun at Raj (sorry Raj haha). I noticed issues from the factory, they took care of the critical stuff and will take care of the rest when I bring the boat back in. It was easy, and they were attentive to my concerns and friendly. They handle 800 boats every year with huge storage facilities, heated and unheated. Bought a new boat from them 13 years ago, a moderate sized SeaRay. Good service overall, with some issues 2 years of the 13. But, those were well handled. NOT this year, as I requested my boat mid-May with down payment as I usually do. They could not perform until after memorial day! I have heated storage and pay for full service of my boat every year. But being a long term well paying customer is now ignored. When my boat was not ready at Memorial day weekend, I then asked for a short delay for delivery (service could continue). They did nothing to ready my boat. I am now waiting another 1.5+ weeks, hopefully to get the boat. New ownership is not able to keep up with heated storage and full service. I would buy a boat somewhere else if you are expecting loyalty in service. read more

We have been using Irwin Marine for many years (since they bought out Hillcrest Marine in Alton). We appreciate their attention to detail and overall quality of customer service. Every issue we have ever had with our boat has been addressed promptly and efficiently. We feel very lucky that we are able to have them as our marina. They store our boat every year and service it before putting it in the lake. We have never had a problem with them. I wanted to write this review because I see some negative reviews but everyone I know who uses them has had a very positive experience. Highly recommend read more

BEWARE! It's a shame that such a large company is capable of such scams and dishonesty. Please read my email sent to Tim McClare about everything that happened to us. Jason Marceau in service is so shady and not to be trusted. They changed countless invoices and the work to the boat was never done. When we called them out on things they would change the invoice. They ended up saying it was meant for the previous owner. It's unbelievable. Don't purchase or get your boat serviced here. Not a reliable group of so called "professionals". The boat never ran properly after they "fixed" it so we had to hire another company to go through the boat to find that the fuel module that was supposedly $1570 was actually an Amazon fuel module for $180. They played us like fools and won't even own up to their shotty work and lies. read more

I bought a new Sea Ray 290SDX this spring and got a slip at Irwin as well. This is a great dealership. They have two Jasons that are phenomenal. Our sales rep, Jason Wylie, is fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable about all their boats and features. He always answer calls and texts immediately. All around great guy that is excellent at what he does. I highly recommend seeing Jason if you're looking for a new boat. On the service side, JASON Marceau is outstanding as well. Excellent follow up and communication. Rude employees! Brought a small outboard motor in for service. While speaking with counter person regarding what service the motor needed I was asked what was the size and make of the motor, I replied "Mercury 2.2 outboard". Out of nowhere, like the wizard of OZ, a loud and rude voice chimed into the conversation from behind some cubicle "Mercury doesn't make a 2.2 motor!" I spun around trying to see where this voice came from and I replied "well that's what the sticker on the motor reads" then some old guy stood up from behind a desk and continued a rant in his loud and rude manner.... "well then it's probably too old for us and we won't work on it" I replied "you worked on it last year?" He then replied "What, because we worked on it before we have to work on it again!?!" then he walked downstairs out of sight. The counter person was embarrassed and would not look me in the eye from this point on, he did tell me they would look at it and get back to me in about a week, I left the motor with them and started to drive home. About 10 min after leaving i got a call on my cell telling me to come get the motor they refuse to work on It. When I returned to the parking lot they were already wheeling to motor out to my truck before I got out of it. I was able to locate the parts I needed on line in less than 20 min then repaired the motor myself without issue. I usually don't write reviews but the ignorant comments and attitude wasn't needed, for any reason. I will spread this experience to every person I know. If the day comes when I drive by and see the building vacant I will smile and understand completely why. read more

My family just purchased a boat from this marina. $15k cash, paid for. Picked it up, the radio doesn't work. Then got stuck out in the middle of the lake with kids ages 2-12, plunged went, boat took on water and engine died. Went to the marina, asked for a checkpoint list that they went through the boat. They don't have it. Then they said cause it's July they don't really do that. Sold me a boat, I paid cash outright and it's broken. They give you the run around every time you have a problem. Don't buy from this awful place. They do not stand behind anything. Update! After Irwin's comment on this review, we brought the boat back and were told that the boat was in 100% working condition when we took it off the lot. Not true. The marina cannot produce any paperwork saying so. And if they do now, we know it's doctored. They stand behind NOTHING! Terrible customer service!!!!!! read more

After a shitty experience, I started asking around and hearing about other's who have dealt with this place. After calling, texting, emailing, web inquiries with no replies at all from Irwin, I drove the hour and a half there to look at the boat in question. After waiting 25 minutes to speak with someone ...while watching most of the sales people and managers avoid us... someone begrudgingly came to ask us what we wanted. When I asked about the boat I was interested in, I was told it had been sold before they even listed it online but they listed it anyway as an admitted ploy to get people in there. What a shitbag company.... I will be sure that all my many connections throughout New England will be made aware of this dealership. read more

I had Irwin Marine come out and look at my Mercury outboard and without leaving the dock I was told my boat was cavitating how can someone know that without taking the boat out?? You Can't !!!! I was also told by a 26-year employee not to bring my boat to his work. AS we had a fight over the service of my motor since he worked at Irwin marine I am not sure what would happen to my boat or motor in their hands. Already steered me in the wrong by saying it was cavitating after 2 years of running and never had any cavitation. Stay away from bad service read more

I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Now that I've rented a boat from them, I know this place is solid. New clean boats. Professional staff. Huge inventory of boats to choose from. My group, 6 adults and 5 children, came to Lake Winnipesaukee for a quick weekend getaway. Because of the number of our group we rented a pontoon and a tubing package. Cost us $320-something plus the cost of the gas we used. We ended up spending a quarter tank that came to about $30. So all in all about $350 for half day (12:30-4:30p) rental with tubing pkg. Our pontoon boat was a 2017 model. Seats for 14 people. I never been on a pontoon before so I was surprised to see that they had an overhead cover, Bluetooth speaker system, table, cup holders and was more than powerful enough to fill our time with hilarious memories that'll last us a lifetime. The staff gave us recommendations on good places to go tubing or anchor and go swimming. Irwin Marina is my go to place from now on to rent boats. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to any of my friends or family. read more

We purchased our SeaRay from Irwin 5 years ago. That experience was very good. Since then we have stored our boat with them every year. That is where the problems come in. We ask for service as well as cleaning as part of our spring pickup. We are asked to give the date we need the boat and what needs to be done for pick up. The boat is never ready when promised. We have asked what we need to do differently to have that happen and have followed all guidance to no avail. We call daily once the date is past and get told it will be that day by the end of the day - they will call us. We never get the call and the boat is not ready. Here we are again this year - same story. Last year it was weeks late. This year so far it is only a week but who knows. I have no confidence. We also have a boat part that is broken and we have asked for it to be fixed for the last 3 years for which we will pay for the service. It has never been fixed - 'they didn't have time'. It is our depth gauge so it is actually a pretty important part of our boat. I will be shocked if they fix it this year. Beware of Irwin's service department. They are knowledgeable and pleasant but the customer service is unacceptable. read more

These people were unbelievably great! We sucked a rock up in our jetski and couldn't get it to the shop as we don't have a hitch on the car that we had brought to the lake this particular week. Gary set up a pick up at pine river pond for the following day. Machine was fixed and returned in 3 days!!! I cannot recommend them enough! Great customer service!! You've been hit by, a smooth criminal.... Oh how I have been waiting to let the world know how I was treated at Irwin Marine in Laconia New Hampshire. I have a vacation home in the lakes region and was directed to Irwin via Princecraft manufacturers, the maker of my boat. Irwin Marine is a seller of their boats and parts. In theory it's a monopoly because you can't purchase anything directly from the boat manufacturer. I ordered a bimini top / enclosure for my 24 foot pontoon boat. The cost of this to Irwin from Princecraft was $459, what did Irwin charge me for the top $1,459 dollars, Yep there mark up was $1,000. Now I am all for profitability but this was theft. How did I find out you ask, oh this is where it gets good. Someone from Irwin Marine accidently faxed me the invoice from Princecraft. I called and asked why I received the invoice, and the parts manager got on the phone and fumbled and bumbled for words. He explained it was a mistake, I asked him if this is how they usually do business. You know by marking up the product $1,000 on the boat owners, he had no response. Granted I was handcuffed, because I wanted the part and they are the only dealer around who sells for them and I had already gave them my card information. I was not about to break a contract, but I thought about it. I figured with me knowing what they paid they would give me a break of sorts, but nope, nothing, nada. I graciously walked into the parts part of the dealership and said my name. The young girl said and I quote "OH, YOU'RE DEREK" and I said yes, you can just call me asshole if you want, because honestly I can't believe I am doing business with a place that screws customers on mark ups the way you do here. I asked are you aware that someone faxed me the invoice by accident ?She said yes, i'm sorry, she went and grabbed the box, which came UPS from Princecraft and was never opened checked etc... and handed it to me. $1,000 for basically being the go between. I said you seem nice, take a good look at my face, she complied. I followed that with, you will never see me in this fucking place EVER AGAIN !!! Do yourself a favor, AVOID IRWIN MARINE at all COSTS. They are clearly criminal in their pricing and imagine how much they are screwing you if you buy a boat or get service from them... There are many places in the lakes region, steer clear and jettison any thoughts of going to IRWIN MARINE !!!! read more

Worse customer service ever!!! Was told by 2 different ladies that we would have our boat by Memorial Day when our company is in town. "Of course you will have your boat - your boat was one of the last ones to be put away". Still remember where she sat and looked like. My husband called in April and May and he didn't get any call backs but he got a text saying your boat will be in the water June 16. That's when I started calling. Was told to speak to the manager. Left 4 separate messages with no call back. I'm not going to mention names. Customer service is the worse I've ever dealt with. But when my husband talked to his friend about it he knew someone there so he got our boat into the water 2 weeks later - filthy. But at least it's in the water but it was so gross. Wouldn't store or deal with Irwin ever again! Well unless you know someone there. We wanted to try something knew but we will go back to the marina we've been dealing with for 8 years. read more

Happy to report that after many months, Irwin Marine fixed our boat - even picked it up and returned it within days. The entire experience has left a sour taste and am still extremely disappointed that it took getting our attorney involved to get some results. read more

Alton Bay boaters will be saddened to discover Gillans is gone and has been ruined by yet another Irwin's. Only took a week for them to remove most of the items helpful to boaters, along with the personalities. If your boating in this area bring your supplies with you. I gave it one star cause you could probably get a piece of rope from them if you needed it. read more

We went to Irwin Marine in Alton to look at Jet skis, Wayne the Sales Manager was no help and acted more irritated than helpful. Luckily we kept looking and found HK Powersports in Laconia where the sales team was more than willing to answer our questions and help us. We've bought a few boats from Irwin and always had a great experience with Kevin, but then they moved Kevin to Alton and things went down hill fast. We bought a boat a couple of years ago and, although it was brand new, it was full of problems. At first, the service was fine and they were responsive, but they quickly started to write us off as problem people. Some of the issues were really serious. We tried to trade it in, but it was clear they didn't want to deal with the boat, so they gave us a laughable deal. Finally, we decided to get out of it all together and asked them to consign it. They sent the agreement to an address that we hadn't lived at for several years and never followed up. We had to chase them to get the boat fixed and listed. Finally it was listed, but they did nothing to sell it. On top of everything, they also charged us winter storage. We continually had to bend for them and they didn't even seem to care. There was no sense of urgency on service or on sales. They charge an 11% commission on consignment, which is a lot of money, so you think they'd be more willing to move on it. Finally all the issues were resolved and the boat was sold, but the bad taste is still there. We'll never buy another boat from them. We also had friends ask them to consign their boat and Irwin did nothing with it. Our friends took the boat back and sold it themselves. read more

My family and I recently spent a month in Wolfeboro (July 2014), and "Raj" at Irwin Marine was recommended to us by our realtor as a top notch and honest salesperson for Sea Ray boats. At first, their location in Laconia concerned me, as it is on the opposite side of the lake from where we would be staying, but not knowing anyone in the region, we rely heavily on personal recommendations when we travel. I have to say that the experience that we had was excellent in every respect. Raj worked to find exactly what we were looking for, stocked the boat with toys and necessities, handled the payment remotely, registered the boat for us, delivered it personally to our dock and offered to pick it up at the end of our stay, all at no extra charge (other than the cost of the toys and necessities, of course). We did not have any need for service issues, so I cannot speak to that aspect of their business, but from a sales perspective, I was very impressed and recommend Irwin Marine, and Raj in particular, without reservation. read more

I wanted to trade my boat for a newer boat a few weeks ago. As expected their marine surveyor took a good look at my boat. He had one of the mechanics come out and both of them wiggled the stern drive unit. Both said that the gimbal mount was shot and that it would cost $2600 to fix it. Therefore the cost to fix it would be deducted from the trade-in value making the boat and trailer worth significantly less from the NADA book value and BoatUS value. I took the boat back to the marina in the lakes region where I bought the boat to have them look at the gimbal mount. They called me this morning and said my boat was fixed. It did not need a gimbal mount and did not cost $2600 to fix. Total cost for repair was $189. It needed 2 hinges and the gimbal mount to be torqued to the proper setting. Beware of Irwin Marine and their low ball tactics. read more

Terrible,terrible service by a salesperson,not sure of his name but he was a heavier sent gentleman with white hair. He was extremely rude and very condescending to say the least, even when I asked him to be reasonable and we could both be nice to each other instead of throwing such rude remarks, he just kept on going and going and walking backwards and couldn't take a moment to even listen.He spoke so rudely about his competitors across the street, listening to him whether or not these are his competitors, only left someone to wonder about his character as a business person going on saying things the way he was. He told me to go back there,to remember,you get what you pay for. HELLO,we are hear,shopping around,do you think you can take a moment of your time and educate us?cinsteqd of walking backwards throwing your insults. I had heard from someone else that this place tends to treat people very poorly when they feel they have made judgment and think that certain people that walk in do not have the ability to purchase a boat. I am not sure if this was the case, but I do know that for this situation this gentleman could not have been more wrong. We would never have stayed at this establishment dealing with someone that was being so rude to take our money and start a business relationship that we could tell we would not care to carry through after making our expensive investment . We made our way to Winnisquam marine and was greeted with open arms even as the doors were being locked for the day, we purchased a Bayliner 185, and we spent a considerable amount of money for this purchase, very happily. I have been boating on Lake Winnipesaukee since 1994 and have had dealings with at least 5 different lakes region boat dealers. None have been up to Irwin Marine's standards. They consistantly exceed my expectations. I have bought 2 new boats from them and their service has always been top notch. Jason Marceau (service manager) is amazing!! He is always on the top of his game and never disappoints. I had dealings with another neighborhood marina who made me feel like they were doing me a favor by fixing a boat they sold me. NEVER the case at Irwin, they make you feel like they appreciate you and your business. Boating as a hobby is expensive and you have to have that in mind when you get into it. I feel like I have always been treated fairly and never overcharged for the services I've asked them to perform. There is a reason why Irwins has been in business since 1919 and it's GREAT service. The boat sells itself.....the service is what keeps people coming back generation after generation. read more

I took my 92' boat to Irwin Marine of Alton Bay, NH after talking to Rick. When I arrived Rick was less than kind, to say the least. He seemed bothered by my business. After being told I probably needed new controls (without checking them first) I asked Rick to make sure the controls had the cable length needed to be installed on my boat which, was Ricks concern... Rick responded by saying, "I'm not going down there to measure it when I have mechanics to do that." I asked if he would mind if i took the measurements to which he replied, "I don't trust you but, do what you have to do. I only trust my mechanics." Yes, red flags went up for me but, I had just made 2 trips to drop off a motor and my boat, separately, (over 4 hours of driving)so, even though I couldn't believe the nerve of this guy, I just left and hoped for the best. I got a call a week later saying they couldn't do the job of mounting my motor because the transom was showing signs of rotting. Okay, that I can understand even though I disagree. Here's the kicker: I CAN'T UNDERSTAND why they took my controls off my motor, replaced with controls that do not go to my motor and refused to take responsibility... Irwin Marine is now being sued. STAY AWAY! Rick is extremely unprofessional and offensive and I imagine this type of thing has happened before, thus the law suit. Somebody must take a stand against these crooks!
