Dr Lyons asked about other symptoms, and I told him I felt somewhat bloated. Ended up getting charged $1000 when I went to my colonoscopy, which is supposed to be fully covered by insurance. Found out Dr. Lyons coded it wrong under "distention" rather than "screening". He refused to correct the coding, telling me it would be medical malpractice. I guess he skipped his law classes in school, because re-coding is a super common occurrence. I know as I run all IT operations for 2 large hospitals. He lied to me to my face about that, then didn't do the banding he was supposed to do, so I ended up being $1000 out for something that was supposed to be fully covered, and still didn't get the primary thing done I went in to see him for. I would recommend that you bypass CRC and go to a clinic that follows ethical standards, unless you have a lot of money you don't want.

When I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, I quickly realized not all care is the same. I had…read moreinteractions with other providers along the way, but I never felt truly seen or prioritized--until I met Dr. Caravella. From the beginning, he treated my case with the urgency it deserved. There was no delay, no complacency--within two weeks of my diagnosis, he had me in surgery. Shortly after, he ensured my chemo port was placed so treatment could begin without interruption. What stood out just as much as his decisiveness was his empathy. He didn't approach me like just another case--he understood the gravity of what I was facing and made sure I felt it through his actions, not just his words. After surgery, I learned that 4 out of 17 lymph nodes tested positive. It made it clear how aggressive this was and how close it was to becoming fully metastatic. Waiting even a little longer could have changed everything. I understand that in medicine, there are systems, schedules, and metrics--just like in any profession. But from where I stand, this wasn't just another case. It was my life. Because of his ability to act quickly and his commitment to doing things the right way, I truly believe he saved my life. And while this may be part of what he does every day, it will never feel ordinary to me. I'll never forget it--thank you, Dr. Caravella, for giving me a second chance at life.

However, since seeing him in his office and the last two visits with PA Steiner, my opinion has completely changed on these guys. First off I'll say, I will never go back here and I don't recommend them. As pulmonary doctors, having asthma, a PFT test should be done, but that's not the biggest issue. I have a history of pneumonia in my right lung along with other issues. The last time I saw PA Steiner, I was extremely sick with pneumonia and other issues. He did absolutely nothing for me. Didn't offer any medications, no advice, nothing. I fortunately decided to go to pulmonary at the VA. She immediately ran a boat load of blood tests, ordered a CT Scan and a PFT initially which after that one a more advanced one. So this is why I'm not recommending these guys.... The blood work came back showing issues, the CT of my lungs came back showing issues, I'm waiting for the second PFT. These guys are Intensive and Pulmonary and did absolutely nothing for me or made any attempt to diagnose me. Beware if you have serious pulmonary issues. I should not have to request or demand for them to do their job. I'll stick with the VA as these guys did not want to do anything to help me or earn my business or recommendation.

I think he was significantly late to every appointment we ever had with him (like more than 20 minutes late to a 15-min appointment) and in many cases we had to contact the front desk to get him to respond, and they said he had forgotten or not marked the appointment on his calendar. He said that DPC is supposed to be good for complex medical situations, but in practice, he would only listen to us briefly before concluding what test we should get and then talking about that test a lot. He was not good at listening to us and it felt so difficult to get even a few sentences out around him. One time I even booked two appointments (one for me one for my husband) to TRY to have enough time for him to listen to something complicated that I felt was threatening my heart health, and still got shut down and not listened to and just told to rebook in a few weeks for more so-called "care." He was also not the best about refills, referrals, etc. often had to follow up a lot. I felt the doctor was failing to get an understanding of our health histories and was instead just listening barely long enough to suggest a test and then that's all he wanted to talk about. for example: my husband: I've been having fatigue dr.: (no questions about when it started or what it was like) you should get a sleep study! my husband: well, i'm not sure (not thinking sleep apnea was likely explanation, given the other details about the fatigue history) dr.: you can do a sleep study at home these days! Additionally, the nurse/phlebotomist seemed very inexperienced and severely injured me while doing the blood draw. She also mishandled the blood sample, so one of the tests we paid for was voided and had no result, because it had been exposed to too much light. I had constant low-grade pain in my arm for months after her blood draw, because she must have damaged my muscle or nerve with the needle and wouldn't take it out when I said it was more painful than any blood draw I'd ever had (she just said "you're overthinking it, just breathe."). I wish I had ripped the needle out, because I've had dozens of blood draws and I know what they normally feel like, even when they're a little painful, and this was not normal. I was hoping for better but this DPC did not turn out to be what we needed. We found someone better through recommendations on r/vegaslocals.

Her expertise in the field of robotic surgery is impressive, and I'm so happy that she did my robotic hysterectomy with abdominal incision for endometrial issues with an enlarged fibroid uterus. She is highly professional and highly informative. She is friendly and it is obvious that she cares. For those claiming that she's not friendly, I'm not sure if they were looking for a new best friend, but she is highly respectful and communicates well with patients, and she has a very serious job to do, because if she doesn't do it right, people will likely die. I would not hesitate recommending her to anybody that wants to be in really great hands and know that they're getting the best care possible. I also want to mention that someone commented that if you're fat, you should not go to her. That's completely wrong. I am morbidly obese and she never brought that into the picture. I know I need to lose weight and I know my weight likely triggered the endometrial cancer. If people are in denial, that's their problem and they shouldn't blame her for it. Overall, I would not hesitate recommending her as the best gynecology oncology specialist in Las Vegas, and I'm so happy my gynecologist sent me to her. Dr. Kowalski deserves nothing less than five stars, because the caliber of her work, and her comportment as a caring physician, are top-notch.
