In addition to books and computer services, they have park passes that you can borrow so you can park at the state parks for free. I believe they will be adding museum passes too at some point. There's also a nice selection of e-books to borrow. The staff is friendly and there is a small parking lot to the side. There are a few handicapped spots in the front and there is a side entrance where you can buy used books. There is also a park nearby if you wanted to take a walk after visiting the library.

Updating this review, mainly because since my last review, I've been here two times,…read more Just want to mention that while I was in the middle of printing very important document (medical lab request ) Next thing I know is... All the computer are turned off ! 5 o'clock closing time. No warning they just all turned off. Small notice probably had something covering that window on the computer screen. My document was sent to the printer & spooled - final print mode. But everybody's computer turned off exactly at five despite if there documents were sent to the printer. But if the computers are turned off. It won't print them. Please fix this situation somehow in someway. I do appreciate that the last two times I went there and had issues with something. (or somebody else did). Someone was kind enough to quickly help from the front desk.

Foothill Ranch Library is among a handful OCPL locations that has a stand-alone community room. It is used for magic shows, music performances, classrooms, and a neighborhood vote center as needed. I only found out today that it hosts an ESL conversation meeting on the second and fourth Mondays every month led by Anna, a library staff. Today I checked out a printed book and an audio book on Japanese to study. Very grateful for these resources I can access for free.

The computers here are strange too. When you want to end your session, you can't even find a way to close the screen, because there is no end button! They had a great "recommended" table at the front. They were also promoting two books clubs that they have through the library; I'll definitely want to take a closer look at those in the future. It's a nice and quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of the hospital - so a great place to…read moreescape to if you need some time to work or relax. The good: There is a HUGE selection of medical textbooks, journals, periodicals - as one would imagine. The staff here are friendly and warm. There are multiple study nooks scattered throughout the library space - with plenty of outlets as well. The bad: Internet is almost non-existent here. I tried the guest network, then swapped to my mobile hotspot device (literally a device that acts as a mobile router/modem), and then finally, my phone's data - and had trouble staying connected for longer than a few minutes. I later confirmed with the service desk clerk that this was normal - and that internet is spotty because of the building and nearby communications equipment. Parking - is not free here. You pay a nominal fee even if you get your pass validated. I mean this is generally a space for students, staff and faculty - so those groups likely have their own parking permit anyway. It's also closed on the weekends - which is usually the case for most libraries anyway, however, one would expect it to be open somewhat considering that it's on a hospital campus. There is a side room called the Research Lounge, containing two nap pods, computers, printers, chairs and a charging station - that was open 24/7 - you need a UCIMC badge to gain access. Note: The restrooms located next to this library require key access after 6pm.

I went here early in the morning (right when it opened) just to get some quick work done as I dropped off a friend at the hospital. Pros: *LITTLE TO NO ONE THERE. (At least, during the time I went at 8 AM) If you want the whole library to yourself, this is your go-to spot. You'll have no distractions here in getting your work done. *POOR PHONE SERVICE. Maybe it's just my phone provider (T mobile), but I had no phone service there. Even when linked to the free public wifi, I could not even browse the internet. Cons: *NO FREE PARKING. Unless you park at the mall adjacent to the hospital, you are most likely going to park in the parking lot structure. That means paying the fee. *COMPUTERS ARE FOR STUDENTS ONLY. At least at the time when I went there, I saw a sign that says computers are for UCI students/employees only and they will need to see UCI ID to verify that. *HIDDEN LOCATION. Most people won't even know that there is a library located in the hospital. It's awesome if you like peace and quiet, but could be better promoted to increase publicity.
