They petitioned the court and guided us on our successful bid to obtain guardianship of our grandaughter. Thankfully, the guardianship was finalized in September. Unfortunately though, their business practices are 2nd-rate. After the initial retainers were paid, they neglected to keep us updated on the balance owed on our account. No emails, no summaries, no letters, no running balance. And then 9 months -AFTER- the court proceedings wrapped up, they filed suit against the grandparents to collect an outstanding balance owed. I was served with papers threatening suit if over $900 wasn't rendered immediately. In my opinion, this was a very shoddy business practice. Of course I paid.

After quite some time, I emailed him to ask for updates and if we could schedule a court date. His advice was to sit back and wait for the other side to act, so I did. We waited nearly 4 years with only minimal input from Brian other than receiving an invoice for payment. Then, earlier this year, a hearing was set for a summary judgement. Again, I spoke with Brian to give him details for our reply and he kept interrupting me, not listening and becoming frustrated that I was trying to tell him important details. Honestly, my impression was that he is on the autism spectrum and easily overwhelmed so I patiently gave him answers to specific questions that missed the important details of our case. He then notified us that he had to reschedule the hearing because he had a conflict... then nothing until today when he sent a journal entry he intends to send to the opposing council stating the judge ruled against us. We were not kept in the loop for years, he did not present our evidence (that the other side included lies and incorrect deeds in the original filing). When I questioned whether he represented our side, he replied that it wasn't about him....but he didn't answer the question. I feel that he did NOT properly represent us and cost us the judgment due to bad advice/lack of robust representation. I would NOT recommend Brian Huddleston and see that there is another review that is only 3 months old with similar complaints. This is NOT a competent attorney who cares to represent you.

I was sued in 2021 and filed counterclaims that same year. My counterclaims were later dismissed without what I believed was clear written confirmation or authorization from me approving that action, which I felt placed my case at significant risk. When I later asked about refiling, I was told to "wait until October," but I did not receive a detailed explanation regarding the significance of that timeline or the potential consequences of waiting. After seeking a second opinion, the new attorney I hired advised me that I had approximately one year from the November dismissal date to refile the case in order to preserve the deposition testimony and evidence previously obtained by my original attorney, who could no longer represent me due to a career change. My understanding was that missing that deadline could have limited the use of previously gathered evidence and negatively affected my ability to defend my case. Fortunately, I retained another attorney who successfully handled the matter and ultimately helped me obtain a dismissal with prejudice and a default judgment on the opposing party's counterclaims, despite previously being told the case would be difficult or unlikely to succeed. Based on my personal experience, I would not hire Brian again. I felt the representation resulted in unnecessary time, expense, and stress, and I believe my case was placed at unnecessary risk.
