I'm really surprised no one has reviewed him yet. Maybe it's because he is new to Los Gatos? Well,…read morehere it goes - I suffered for years with suicidal depression. Someone recommended Dr. Mahan when he was working in San Jose, and with his help, and a change of my meds, everything changed. Nothing is easy, but he helped by looking at how I think, gave me mental exercises (sounds dumb, I don't know how else to describe them, but they work) to change how I think about my life, and he has become a, sort of, life coach for me. I wouldn't have gotten by B.A. or changed my job without his help. He also lets my bitch as much as I want, so... :) Now, I know this shouldn't be a factor, but his new office is really cute, and, wait for it, is above Sushi on the Run. Arguably the best sushi in the Bay Area (has won "Best of" for like the Guardian or some newspaper...forgot). He also has a nice view of downtown Los Gatos / Santa Cruz Mountains, and it has more of a homey feel then the hospital / formal feel of other offices. Los Gatos is nice. I need to review places there. Great coffee houses, little shops, and bars. Okay, this is what I do when I have a chance. Two perfect days- 1. Make a morning appointment with Dr. Mahan. grab lunch, book or cheesy magazine, and drive a little bit further to Santa Cruz. Mountains, Beach, Sun, Ocean, Roller Coasters (when was the last time you Rollercoastered it. It's a Word!). Worth it. Good for the soul, and a mini-break, or 2. Make a morning appointment with Mahan, and the Dry Bar in S.J. (you can make an appointment with Dry Bar easily online), so after you talk about your life, you go get a blowout, then go across the street and grab sweet potato fries (double the order, and make sure you get the sauce, too) from Veggi Grill, maybe go next door and grab a burger. Go home, and have a Homeland/ Game of Thrones/ Grimm marathon. Perfect days. Promise. ps. Dr. Mahan, I stole your picture off your website, and stuck it on your Yelp page. I hate the icon they put if you don't have a picture. Bugs me. You said to be pro-active! Sashimi!

I can not speak highly enough of Peter Cellarius, neither in quality or quantity…read more Peter's exceptional professionalism, caring disposition, and individualized approach was invaluable in helping me process the sudden loss of a family member - can't imagine having done it without him. He's so gentle in his approach that it's very easy to confide in him and not feel judged. He obviously cares about his patients and really does take the time to talk to you. In all our session, I never once felt like we were "rushed for time" or that I was on a clock. I highly recommend his services and couldn't be more satisfied. Thank you Peter!

I've had my share of individual, couples, and family therapy, and Adrian is one of the best couples…read morecounselors I've had. My new wife and I were lucky to find Adrian, before we got married, to work on communication and conflict resolution. Adrian is an incredible coach: thoughtful, kind, observant, and knowledgeable. Unlike previous marriage counseling experiences, Adrian focuses on a communication process (Imago). Using Imago, he teaches and guides us to resolve conflict, helping us build trust and deep connection. Adrian has guided my wife and me through the Imago process to the point where we can have conversations we'd previously melt down around. More and more, and with Adrian's guidance, we've been able to create safe spaces for each other to help each of us grow, and in the process, we grow so much closer. It's amazing. I've always disliked trying to find a new counselor/therapist. It can be hard to find someone who is great at what they do -and- is a good fit for me as an individual or as part of a couple. Adrian is a gem, and I'm incredibly grateful we chose him out of the list of local therapists. I highly recommend Adrian for couples counseling.

If you have an interest in exploring your lived experience through art, movement, expression, or just straight shooting conversation, Dr. Tierney is a wonderful choice. I have never written a Yelp review before but I feel very strong about the fact that finding a great therapist is difficult work and if my review can help more people find someone that can genuinely help them, that is worth it. I think Dr. Tierney is a wonderful friend and healer and I recommend his services full heartedly!

Brian is not just a therapist but a coach and supportive person. We've learned and keep learning so much from the frameworks and tools we've learned with him. I have met with a number of counselors over the years, and David is by far the best one I have had…read more David is sincere, understanding, and a great listener. He makes you feel comfortable engaging in deep conversations with him. He has a strong background working with people. I found him to be quite insightful; he spotted my issues quickly and dove deep into the underlying reasons. The advice he offered was both practical and doable. With some counselors, you have to meet for a couple of sessions before you get any useful guidance. With David, he offered valuable advice during my very first session. Unlike many others, he doesn't hold back just to get you to see him more times. Highly recommend!

No difficulty finding parking. The office is set up nicely with a comfortable couch, very much what I envisioned a therapist office would look like. Couples like us instead of calmly talk to one another; there were a lot of pointing finger and blaming the other person. David meditated and reframe what we were trying to communicate to our partner without the condemnation, anger, and accusation. He taught us tools, gave us homework (exercises) to work on that are so applicable and transferable to our daily lives. He learned about us through the sessions and helped us to see the person we felt in love with. From time to time, we still utilize his service to fine tune these skills to communicate effectively and productively, to really listen and hear the other person, and to try to see from our partner's perspective. While David is great for couples counseling, he is also wonderful for individual counseling. Both my husband and I have benefited from individual counseling with him, specifically my husband as he felt comfortable talking through things with David. My husband was raised in a strict household and as a man, was not taught and encouraged to express his emotions and talk about his feelings. If you are unsure, you dont have much to lose but so much to gain. Thank you David again for being a big part of saving our marriage.

Dr. Dufford returned my call promptly and he was very kind and understanding to my situation as usual. Sadly, Dr. Dufford was not able to fit me in as a returning patient at the time that I called, Dr. Dufford instead gave me a referral to two other Psychologists that specialize in treating the Complex PTSD that I suffer from and was recently diagnosed with. Dr. Michelle Chabbot was the Psychologist that I first reached out to following the multiple traumatic events that led to my Complex PTSD diagnoses and that caused my PTSD Panic Attack. I study Psychology myself, and I was very shaken when I contacted Dr. Chabbot, as I'd never experienced at PTSD Panic Attack before, and I never even knew that someone could suffer from something as terrible as a PTSD Panic Attack. Dr. Chabbot answered the phone immediately, and she was kind and caring enough to take the time to help me immediately. She even answered some emergency questions that I had regarding my recent Complex PTSD diagnoses and the PTSD Panic Attack that I suffered. Dr. Chabbot did all of this for me during her time off on the weekend, when she was out of town on vacation. Talking with Dr. Chabbot, meant so very much to me. I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Chabbot and I immediately knew that I was in good hands with regards to finding help to treat my Complex PTSD Disability. I'll be continuing my treatment with Dr. Chabbot moving forward, and I'll be sure to update my review along the way as well. I can tell Dr. Chabbot is an extremely gifted and knowledgeable Psychologist, and she is exceptionally knowledgeable and gifted in the area of PTSD especially. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Chabbot/Dr. Dufford, if you are ever in need. I also urge anyone reading this to reach out to Dr. Dufford/Dr. Chabbot if you are in any need of mental healthcare. It's vital to seek the aid of a Psychologist if you've ever experienced going through a traumatic life event (such as a car accident, workplace discrimination, domestic violence, Ableist bullying, really anything that happens that is traumatic in life, can potentially lead to PTSD I'm told. On top of this, in my own personal experience, PTSD appears to me to be a self fueling condition/ mental illness/disability, meaning that PTSD can worsen over time, if left untreated. What this means is that, it's vital to seek the help of a qualified mental healthcare professional immediately following a traumatic life event. If one doesn't immediately get the treatment that one needs, ones PTSD could quickly worsen, that and one could easily develop "layers" of PTSD, from multiple traumatic events as well. In addition to this, PTSD can also VERY QUICKLY develop into a life threatening condition/mental illness/disability, so please don't ever hesitate to get seek immediate help. Even if you just suspect you might need help, then immediately seek out that help as your mental health can quickly worsen, leaving you in a life threatening situation.
