Well, at least it's a place to grab a beer if you sit at the bar, they have that going for them.
Bruh... what has happened to this place? At this point, I can't see them getting through Saint Patrick's Day successfully at the end of the week.
It has been a hot minute since i have been here and it certainly isn't anything like what I remember. the place was a decent Irish pub, great staff, good food, and bands that only play sad songs in minor keys so that you'd drink more. Tonight it was a disorganized place that needs to be featured on one of those restaurant revival reality shows because this little place has potential to be fantastic again despite the sad state of affairs that we witnessed.
When we arrived, there was a note on the door about a limited menu due to the busy Saint Patrick's Day approaching. Our first thought was that they are making room for the kegs of beer that they'll be serving up in a few days and the kitchen has some stuff ready to serve quickly. That was far from what happened.
Most of the time, limited menu also means stuff that is ready to serve or to quickly prepared. Maybe it meant some limited food since it was mentioned that there were no burger buns or other Irish food. Based on our experience tonight, limited menu must have meant these were all of the dishes that the kitchen staff was familiar with, even that was a stretch from the food that we were served.
Anyway, after agreeing to work with the small menu, we were able to seat ourselves and were promptly greeted by our server who was obviously higher than Snoop Dogg in a hot air balloon. (Personal kudos to this server for enjoying their job and other stuff while working. They were honestly fantastic and very personable with everyone, so no qualms about service by any of the staff.). From here, the wait began. It took about 10 minutes to get drinks and give our order to someone. As we were talking and looking around to people watch, we realized that 30 minutes went by. This was when we noticed that a small group of people next to us along with a couple who came in around the same time were also waiting a while.
While sipping our drinks and rolling our eyes, a few different servers kept coming over thanking us for hanging in there and apologizing for the delay. They even offered up some soup which was politely declined.
We discussed paying for our drinks and giving up, but decided to wait it out. Eventually, the food arrived. It took well over an hour to get a burger and fries. Even though it was requested that the burger be cooked 'medium', it ended up somewhere between 'well done' and a 'Cajun hockey puck'. It was pretty close to being so burned that it wasn't edible and surprised to see that it was on a burger bun after taking the option to have it substituted with bread.
I have waited over an hour for food a handful of times in my life and it always paid off because the chefs and cooks take the time to serve up quality food. I'd rather wait to have something made right versus what was served up tonight.
Although no fault of the restaurant, there was a group of people who were finished eating and hanging out who had screaming kids. This was a pretty painful part of our long wait and I feel that we waited so long that this group probably had another kid during their time spent being that they were obviously there way before a lot of other customers.
As I mentioned at the start, I can't see St Patrick's Day going smoothly with the long wait, burned food, and inexperienced staff, but I'm sure that they are going to try. I wish them the best. I have enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the past, but tonight their once winning formula got lost somewhere. I will give them some time to work on everything then give it another shot at some point. I don't want to see this place close their doors because it's at least a good place to grab a drink, I truly want them to continue to succeed and be as awesome as they once were. read more
