I had a very good experience here. I had a large order and it wasn't completely done on the anticipated date, but he did suggest that I call and check ahead of time and I didn't do that. We set a new date for return and he was finished with the order then. The price was reasonable and since it wasn't done at the original date, he gave me a discount. I called to get a very simple estimate on shortening sleeves on a white medical coat. The guy on the phone made me feel stupid about even asking for an estimate. Very rude and I definitely won't be coming to do business here. read more

I had a really bad experience at Irene's and wound up having to take my items to another tailor in the area to correct his work. There's a reason he only takes cash, and it's because he doesn't want any credit card disputes challenging the quality of his work. Please take the time to read all the Google reviews. I went to Irene's solely based off Yelp, and I should have considered the fact his son posted something obnoxious telling people to "keep your thoughts to yourself" on a business review page. They don't stand behind their work for a reason. Do yourself a favor & find another tailor in the area. read more

I have used this shop for years, so I was shocked with today's experience. My altered tablecloth was to have been finished by yesterday. Because of previous experience, I called ahead to make sure the alteration was complete. He asked me "what length" I wanted the tablecloth, wherein the request for alteration had been about the width! He became agitated with me so I said I would return to the shop to retrieve the tablecloth . Five minutes later I pulled up, and he had set a chair outside the shop with my tablecloth wadded up on the chair. He has always been lovely to me so I am troubled that I seemed to evoke such anger. read more

Took in a coat to get a small part sewn. Did a horrible job...the material is completely bunched up and does not match the other side. Also left strings looped all over it. Will never go back. read more

Irene is an honest taylor! I went there to have a suit that I had bought off the shelf at the Brooks Brothers outlet altered. I have always heard that a tailored fit is the difference between a good suit and a great suit but I don't have a trained eye for that so I decided to go to a tailor. The sales guy who sold me the suit said that it was a great fit but I figured that he was biased because he was trying to sell me the suit. I called Irene to ask whether altering suits was a service they provided and he replied, "Yes, that's what we do." I went in to have the suit altered. Irene thoroughly inspect the suit and told me that it fit just right everywhere. I went in fully expecting to fork over some cash and Irene was honest and told me that it didn't need any alterations. After being stood up by another seamstress on the day of my scheduled appointment, I frantically called Irene's Tailoring and explained that my bridesmaid dress needed to be hemmed and the wedding was in four days. I met Emmanuel that same evening, at 5:00pm, and he was cheery and helpful, assuring me that my dress would be ready in time. It was ready in three days, and the hem was even better than the original. His work was impeccable and his demeanor was so pleasant. I took 3 pairs of pants to Irene's Tailoring on a Friday after work. Although the shop is owned by Irene, I dealt with her son Emmanuel. I have never been so creeped out by a business experience in my life. He challenged me to do 20 pushups for a discount. Being the thrifty girl that I am, I thought this was hilarious, and I definitely wanted to save a little money. After completing my pushups, he proceeded to flirt with me for a good half hour, telling me all about his "Benz" in the parking lot, and bragging about the Greek mafia. He even insisted that I go and sit in his car. While I thought this guy was a complete jerk, I brushed it off as a funny experience, laughed it off and went home. I was promised that my 3 pairs of pants would be complete by the following Friday. The next day (Saturday), I got a personal phone call from Emmanuel and he left a voice mail. I did not return his call. On Sunday, I got ANOTHER phone call from him asking if I wanted to get together and have lunch. Please keep in mind that I DID NOT GIVE THIS MAN MY NUMBER for personal use - I gave the number for my tailoring order, and he used it to try and get a date. Now that I was thoroughly creeped out, I discussed the incident with my boyfriend. I was due to get my pants on Friday, but since we were busy, we went in on the following Saturday (8 days later) to pick them up. They were NOT finished. Emmanuel sent us away and said they would be completed on Monday. We returned on Monday to pick up the pants. I will never be using this tailor shop again. "Harmless flirt" or not, this was the most unprofessional and sleazy business that I've ever dealt with. I am a young, single, educated woman who prides herself in being self-sustainable, but thank goodness that I could send my boyfriend in to pick up my pants. Ladies, bring a friend or take your man; don't go there yourself. Or, don't go at all. As for the pants, I guess they turned out fine. Nothing that 7 hot machine washes can't fix. read more

I've used Irene's for a long time. But am going to find someplace else. I usually have to take previously hemmed pants back because his work always falls out and lately he is just never open. Now closes at 5 pm and hasn't been open on Saturday all summer. I work. Apparently you don't need my business. read more

What a pleasant surprise when it counted most! I recently purchased a new suit at Elder-Beerman and needed to have it tailored the next day for a social gathering. The Dayton area Elder-Beerman stores contract with Irene to do most of their work, but since I needed my suit the next day, I had to drive there myself (no problem!) Emmanuel (the owner) greeted me immediately and quickly took out the suit. After a nice compliment on my steal of a purchase he directed me to the changing room. He was nice enough to explain the specific cut of the suit and how it could be tailored to best fit me. I am not exaggerating when I say I was in there for 5 minutes for the fitting when Emmanuel said, "you're all set boss!" Four hours later I was in my new suit and it did indeed fit perfectly. Although a drive for me from Beavercreek, you can bet I'll be back for the perfect service, neighborly attitude, and trade expertise! read more

I took a jacket in to be hemmed. The thread color was dark, therefore you could see the uneven hem. The hem was off by 1/4" in some areas. Also, the stich was too tight and made the fabric pucker a little. I brought this to their attention and was told, "Well, at least the stitches didn't skip." "It's because of the fabric.." I am just glad I didn't bring muy husband's new suit in for alterations. Very, very disappointed!! read more

Dropped off two pairs of suit pants on a Monday, told the man that I needed them done ASAP as I had to wear a suit all week and didn't want to wear the same one every day. He told me they would be ready Wednesday, or Thursday at the latest, and that he would call me as soon as they're done. A week goes by and I don't hear from him, so I called him the following Wednesday to ask about them, and he said they were next in line, and I could come in later that day to pick them up. I come in the following morning, and see them sitting on a rack in the front of the store, so I go to look at them and he tells me that he had forgotten about my pants, but he would do them that night. I ended up getting them back the following Monday, which was a full 2 weeks after I dropped them off. He did take $6 off the price as a form of compensation for the slow service, so it only cost $70 to get two pairs of pants shortened, instead of $76. The pants turned out fine in the end, so I suppose it could have been worse. read more
