More than just a people park, there's also a pretty decently sized canine park here!…read more The people park includes a community center with a gymnasium, game room and meeting rooms with a small kitchen. There are three lighted baseball/softball fields, four lighted pickleball courts and four lighted tennis courts. I spotted picnic shelters, stocked fishing ponds (catch and release) and a bunch of walking paths. The dog park was really busy today with at least a dozen in the "large" side and two on the "small" side. Running about and parking while their humans chatted and watched. The park has plenty of parking. [Review 2422 of 2024 - 3878 in North Carolina - 23435 overall]

I was there Friday for a Wake Forest Fungo baseball game. The team and league are comprised of college baseball players (mainly division 2 & 3) who play for the summer. The field they are on has been improved from an open cut infield to a grass one and they built an announcers box and snack stand. They also added batting cages and covered stands on both sides. It was fun coming out although is was hot and close to 100 degrees at game time which was 6:30pm. They do sell light snacks, soda and beer at the venue.

Wake Forest is definitely a town I wouldn't recommend anyone to move to unless you like living in…read moretowns that put up too many apartment complexes at once without expanding the roads. What used to be a 7 minute commute to work that's 1.5 miles away can easily be a 20 minute commute due to school traffic. There are too many people moving here and there are only one lane roads, it's ridiculous. Forget getting out of work after 5, the traffic on Rodgers Road is awful. I'm client-based at my job and every single client has complained about the traffic to get to me, and I don't blame them! People will literally block roads out here so you can't turn. I didn't mind living here until last year when it became over developed and people became more and more careless and rushed to whatever was more important than the safety of others. I see at least one person run a red light DAILY, sometimes two or three. There are major accidents every single day and what used to be a quiet neighborhood is now filled with sirens at all hours of the day because people don't know how to drive out here. Where are the cops? They're talking to each other at the park or guiding school traffic. There are no cameras on the lights and zero consequences for running red lights (except for accidents and many times, worse). People have become rude here, entitled even. I wouldn't recommend joining the community page on Facebook, it's just a bunch of people being unwelcoming to new residents. Now in person, I haven't had many poor encounters but when they're behind the wheel, forget it. There are plenty of grocery stores and gas stations but it's still lackluster on activities. Entertainment here is zero to none to the point where the teenagers hang out at Sheetz (gas station). It's a sleepy town and it's definitely up and coming but the town is so focused on building apartments that they forgot about building businesses. But hey, we're getting a Costco soon (sarcasm). I will say that with all of the new developments, the town is clean and feels newer, even though Wake Forest has been a town since 1880. Though the roads are cramped, they are up to date and usually fixed quickly. Hopefully with the new mayor, things will change for the better. The last mayor served for 24 years which is insane. If you're wanting diversity, activities, great choices on food, etc., Cary is a much better town.
