Pure Vintage Clothing - This is all mine now. Sorry-not sorry. But Pure has a ton of vintage Pendleton for you to score, too.

We just finished hockey and wanted to hit up some local thrift, vintage, shops. So when we arrived, they were closed. We walked to a nearby thrift store then came back. We were immediately intrigued by the stores ambiance. It was set up really cute, total vintage, and clean. Many things caught our eyes, and we scattered all giddy, but the elder behind the counter kept staring at us, NONE STOP. Like we were stealing from her. Which made it awkward. So we didn't stay long. Then she got very flustered, that I wanted to pay 1/2 cash, 1/2 card. I stood there quietly. To the point I was like, just keep the clothes. It's ok, but we really liked what we were buying. Many things are over priced, as many "vintage" stores are. (Ex. A "very" used pair of Converse Chucks were $45). You gotta really shop for the diamond in the rough, but it's absolutely worth it. They had a nice selection of attire, we would've purchased more. However, not finding much clothing under $40, and I was shopping with two teenagers. It was a tad outta our price range.

Hmm let's see ... the best Pendleton coat ever (and big enough for me!) at her Fremont Sunday…read moreMarket stand, cartoon nostalgia at her Tacoma shop, an unbeatable selection of Christmas sweaters when that season rolls around, and extremely affordable prices all around. It'd be tough to improve on anything at Pure. There are people who get in the business of hawking vintage stuff because it's trendy or a quick buck, and then there are people who know the business deeply because they love it. Jordan is firmly in the latter camp; her little shop on "I" St. (across from Tacoma Little Theatre) was her family shop for ages, and the newer, more expansive one (attached to Kings Books) allows plenty of room to roam. (It also feels really clean, unlike some vintage stores I've browsed.) With different stuff in the store vs. at the year-round weekly market vs. in the Etsy shop, you can have a whole lot of fun browsing here. And when you find the winners for you, it won't break the bank to hug them all up (Tiny Toons/Elmira-style) and bring them home with you. Enjoy!

Pure Vintage Clothing - The nostalgia selection at Pure is top-notch. And Garfield's sentiment is very much me.

I found brands such as Madewell, J. Crew, American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie each tagged at around $8.99 (minus 50%!). I paid $20 for 3 hats (Rainiers and Mariners), jeans and a skirt for my daughter plus, the best deal, Paige jeans which came out to be $4! Pros: Clothing was organized into type and color which makes it easy to sort through. Cons: Location is kind of sketch. Items sold as is so it isn't always clean. Go on a Thursday if you love the value and the hunt! Bonus- If you bring your receipt on Sunday it's 75% off your purchase.

I did get a button down shirt here of a tropical design that I have taken a serious hankering to. I wear it once a week. But usually my timing and my pickiness usually are the dominating factors in the situation and I don't usually wind up purchasing anything at all. So definitely check back frequently is my guess if you are this type of shopper like me to eventually get the timing right at some point. Steve on the other hand isn't picky and he often makes purchases here. So I guess it depends what you are looking for. Other shoppers often make a real haul here when it comes to check out time and the prices aren't bad at all. There is a decent sized clothing section for men and women as well as books, DVD's and more. If my libraries weren't so vast at home I'm sure I'd pick up a few from time to time. But again. Picky.

This thrift store is not for everyone! Half the time, it's not even for me. But we stop here…read moresometimes when we're in the area because it is weird and cheap and every now and then it has some bargains. OK, so first off, the store is not nice inside, and it is basically whatever temperature it is outside, so often that's not very comfortable. It's pretty dingy inside, with dusty, packed shelves that look like they're about to fall over. The right half of the store is clothing, and the left half of the store is... everything else: shoes, glassware, knick-knacks, office supplies, ancient travel-size soap bars, whatever. Oh, and it's kind of smelly. Some stuff has price tags, but a lot of it doesn't. There are a few signs on the wall giving prices by type of clothing, but a lot of the time I end up going to ask what the price is. The quality varies widely - some stuff is pretty used and ratty, and some stuff still has crossed-out Goodwill tags on it, so you know he gets part of his inventory from the Goodwill bins. Customer service is pretty minimal, and there are no returns. So why do I even bother coming here?? Trust me, I ask myself that too. It's just a fascinatingly random assortment of stuff, and every now and then you do find something good. If you're the kind of thrifter who likes pawing through random old junk, you'll enjoy the bizarre garage-sale feel of this place. Definitely not in my top-tier list of Tacoma thrifts, but it is weird and interesting.

They had alot of items at a decent price the owner and staff are friendly enough. The only draw…read moreback I would say is the place could be cleaned up and organized a little more.
