I desperately needed not only a trainer but a life coach who could help me break through my old, stagnant habits. She not only helped me recognize and break old habits she and get me into shape as well. She worked with me, motivating me, cheering me on every step of the way. She is everything a trainer should be. Her knowledge and experience in life coaching/nutrition/personal training is exemplary. I am so comfortable in her gym. She has all the best equipment you would find in a gym. Working out has always been stressful for me. I actually hated it! I am so comfortable that not only do I look forward to working out I am having fun too. She will make you feel comfortable and at ease. I promise you that you will not regret hiring Sandy. I am a client for life. Sandy changed my life and will change yours too. The best decision I ever made.

Agreeing to workout with Sandy was one of the best decisions I've made. Sandy meets you where you are. Her years of personal training experience and takes personal interest in you to help shape your exercise journey. You also get a two for one with Sandy. As a certified life coach, Sandy encourages, supports, and pushes you. She is flexible too - if life gets in the way of training, Sandy is always willing to reschedule. If maybe you've forgotten to schedule a follow-up, Sandy will reach out to keep you accountable. She encourages you to let her know about any bodily injuries and chronic issues and suggests alternatives and specific stretches. Since I started working out with my mother-in-law, I have moved two time zones over, gained a new workout partner (my husband) and have continued working out with Sandy over Zoom. We have both seen visible changes to our body, but more importantly feel increased confidence and feel stronger overall. What more can I say? Sandy is a sweet, sometimes saucy (but always funny), genuinely good-person. She simply wants you to be your best self.

Denied Therapy Due to My Service Dog. A Veteran's Warning…read more As a U.S. Army combat veteran with a service dog, I had an extremely disheartening experience with Wilshire Valley Therapy Center. When I showed up today, after doing everything right, I was explicitly told I was being denied service because I had my service dog with me. Now I must somehow find the capacity to go through the exhausting process again of waiting for another provider. Now I must somehow find the capacity to go through the exhausting process again of waiting for another provider and hoping I can show up. The reality is these are the kinds of barriers that break veterans in vulnerable moments. Anyone who understands how fragile a veteran in crisis can be knows that when we break, sometimes we don't come back. When a system fails a veteran who's done everything right, it can trigger a life-altering downward spiral. Today I gathered all of my energy during a difficult time in my life to show up, only to be turned away. I share this for accountability so no one else faces the same ordeal because no veteran should have to face this kind of setback when they are simply trying to get support. From the start, Wilshire Valley Therapy Center staff showed no understanding of ADA law regarding service animals. I was asked excessive and inappropriate questions far beyond what the law permits, repeatedly pressured for "certification," and made uncomfortable throughout the entire 40-minute ordeal. Ultimately, I was refused service because the therapist felt uncomfortable with my service dog. Wilshire Valley Therapy Center should not lack basic ADA legal knowledge or sensitivity toward veterans. As a therapy provider, staff should be fully trained in ADA requirements and prepared to support vulnerable patients, not create additional triggers or barriers to care. After refusing to acknowledge their lack of understanding of the law, Wilshire Valley Therapy Center offered to simply "reschedule me with someone else" as if this were the simple solution. It is not easy or simple to be vulnerable, to show up in crisis, and to seek help with everything you have, only to be dismissed with ignorance, discomfort, and a lack of compassion. I will not be rescheduling. I will not seek therapy from Wilshire Valley Therapy Center after they showed so little respect or professionalism for the time, effort, and emotional strength it took for me to attend this appointment, only to be turned away without support, accountability, or any sense of aftercare. I could write endlessly about how heavy experiences like this are, but the point is simple: This is a big deal for me, and for veterans like me. Showing up for help can take everything we have. To finally make it to an appointment, only to be turned away because of ignorance and discomfort, is more than disappointing, it's devastating. I sincerely hope the VA reevaluates its relationship with this provider, because no veteran should have to endure an experience like this when they are already struggling and are simply trying to get support. Being turned away due to a lack of understanding about service animals should never happen in a therapy setting. I don't know what will come of this, but I hope this review encourages real training, real accountability, and real change.

They did not leave me the papers to fill out as promised prior to my first appt so we wasted the entire hour on doing paperwork. I didn't get to talk and she claimed all of it was from my insurance company - the VA. They wanted a credit card. I can go on. I said next week we need to talk because I was definitely in need of help. Again, same thing and I was visibly frustrated. Finally after 15-20 she sat down because I was so forceful and disturbed that she was sitting with her back to me at the computer AGAIN. No I feel like an idiot and how are you supposed to be vulnerable after being super angry at the actions of the counselor. . The third appt - I received a TEXT from Jacqueline Joya the saying it was CANCELLED the day before because paperwork was pending. No call from her or the place. In fact when I called the place -they claimed they didn't know she let me go or fired me. I am so angry and trying to get them to reimburse the VA. Never have I Ever gone to a therapist and had them ask me questions and facing away from me so they can type into the computer. That is not what the sessions are for. I don't go to fill out paperwork. Now I am having a hard time getting in touch with Rosie who is sort of in charge. This place is not good for VETs and I have called the VA to tell them. Rosie was supposed to call me back in FEB - so I called her and just tried again. I whole heartedly agree with the Willie V on here. And Willie call Care in the community directly and ask if you can go to Psychology Center at the Ridge. I had to change everything and got in fast. You aren't along.
