Staff members are polite, kind and empathetic. If they see that you are serious about your recovery, they will be behind you 100% 'What you reap is what you sow'. I will continue to carry this deep appreciation for Cri-Help. It's an amazing program. Once you put your mind to it, you will see how your life will start to reveal itself to you. You came here for a reason because you are worth it. My only advice is, Keep coming back!

I am writing this review with deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment my fiancée…read morereceived at this facility. She entered the program genuinely committed to her recovery, and did everything in her power to get the help she needed. Despite her good intentions and kind nature even while struggling her experience here was not only unsupportive but also actively harmful. First and foremost, there was a serious incident of overmedication. Staff administered so much Phenobarbital that my fiancée became disoriented and fell face-first to the ground. Staff members admitted, in their own words, that they had likely "given her too much Pheno." Such mistakes in medication management are extremely dangerous and unacceptable, especially in a detox environment. To make matters worse, no incident report was filed until I confronted management about it, raising serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and patient safety. Furthermore, the behavior of certain staff members was appalling. One staff member in particular, Mohana, treated clients as if she were a dictator rather than a caregiver. Her disrespectful attitude toward vulnerable individuals who are detoxing is completely out of line. I was told about clients being called derogatory names, including being called a "bitch," and being threatened with discharge at the slightest sign of protest. This is not only unprofessional it is abusive and retraumatizing for people who are already at their lowest point. When my fiancée tried to stand up for herself against this mistreatment, Mohana was "frightened" to the point of "tears" and sought help from the facility manager, Steven Gomez. Mr. Gomez's response was to immediately discharge her without properly investigating what had happened, despite other staff (notably Leo and Sarah, who acted with much more integrity) confirming that Mohana had provoked the situation. He was also unaware of the overmedication and the physical altercation where a male staff member forcefully grabbed my fiancée another clear violation of patient rights and safety. Again, it is unacceptable for any staff member to put their hands on a client. Adding insult to injury, I was not given a full or honest account of the situation when contacted by the facility, even though I was listed under her full Release of Information (ROI). This lack of communication is both unethical and a breach of policy. It is clear from our experience that this facility is plagued by poor management, favoritism, and a lack of structure. There is a severe disconnect between staff members, and some seem unqualified or unfit for their roles. The only positive interactions we had were with Leo and Sarah, who treated us with honesty and respect. We have reported this situation to JCAHO and are awaiting a response from the CEO, Brandon Fernandez, regarding what corrective actions will be taken. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility to look elsewhere if at all possible. If you have no other option due to lack of private insurance, be aware that you may not receive the care, dignity, or safety you deserve. No one should have to worry about being bullied, overmedicated, or physically mishandled when they are seeking help. I am deeply concerned for future clients, especially those who may not have anyone to advocate for them. This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for patient wellbeing could easily lead to tragic consequences. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision and that the facility takes immediate steps to address these serious issues.

One of the issues she had was that I got angry a lot. I was never violent... but I was angry. We had lost all of our real estate when the bubble burst in 2007, and that constituted millions of dollars that I came into the marriage with (my wife had nothing but debt when we married), so I WAS angry... because much of our loss was due to her credit card purchases that ruined my good credit so I could not save us. Yes, I was angry. When she told me to leave it was only temporary (at the time), dependent on my getting help not to be so mad. So Within 3 days of my expulsion I enrolled in an anger management class at Village Family Services. It was a voluntary enrollment so I only had to go for 12 weeks. The other men in the group were all there by court order (many for over 40 weeks), and they had to fill out paperwork every session and turn it into the court for credit. But the entire experience was very sobering. There was only one other person in the class that had not gone to prison for violence. And everyone had a story of woe that was far greater than mine. What was surprising was that most of the men in the class (no women), were still with their spouses or significant others, even though they were imprisoned for doing bodily harm to them. I felt instantly like a fish out of water. But I hung with the class and I learned to love the guys and to respect the teacher. In the end I got a lot out of simply being in a talk group with a bunch of other men (most of my world is filled with women, not men, and there is a big difference). There was a comradeship that was empowering in it all. The way it works at Village Family is this... if you can prove financial hardship they will reduce your fee to $10 per session. If not, it is $20. There is not full coverage insurance available here. You sign in every night once a week and then fill the room. There are handouts, questions from the facilitator, and even videos to watch. Once we had a pizza party. The best part of the experience was when one of the other guys finished their round of sessions and was leaving. It was a celebration of success. My departure was not so glorified because I was an anomaly... not quite the model abuser, and maybe even the victim of abuse myself as it turned out. But I miss the comradeship. And I recommend to anyone who went through what I went thorough to think about )oining a talk group like I did, )ust to see that you are not alone.

She was SO SWEET over the phone so I knew my girlfriend would feel comfortable. My girlfriend has been feeling a little "cloudy" I guess you can say & I've been to therapists before so I know how helpful they can be. I explained to my girlfriend that it can be scary - opening up to a stranger - but I promised her that it would make her feel better. She was in there for about an hour (the most anxious hour for me from the waiting room but thank goodness they have that soothing music playing) at around 6, Alyson came out to bring me into the room. I sat on the couch & my girlfriend was a COMPLETELY different person. She looked relieved & happier. When we walked out of the office, she broke down crying, hugged me & said "thank you so much for finding her for me." She told me how she is going to go back again because she really liked her & she already had felt a difference. Get you or your loved one struggling with anything an appointment with Alyson. Wow, I just randomly went to share The Center with a friend and found their Yelp page full of…read morenegative reviews. I guess it makes sense because this is exactly the sort of business you take for granted and forget to review - unless you've had a bad experience. Funny how we will race to our keyboards to proclaim the best doughnut or latte but totally forget something which has made a positive impact on our lives. My teenager has seen two counsellors here in the last couple of years. She ADORED the first one and made great progress. Because of the nature of the Center as sort of a first stop after graduation her counsellor moved on and she was very reluctant to see another. I thought about paying the literally 3X as much to see the former counsellor in her private practice but decided to contact the coordinator, Cami to see if we could get in with someone new. She was super helpful and professional and matched her with a new therapist. Every week my daughter says after her session "well, she's not _____" but also every week she is making progress. Maybe lightning didn't strike twice (and believe me, we had tried several other businesses with abysmal results first) but her new counsellor is professional, compassionate and competent. Especially for those parents out there struggling to get someone referred by their child's primary care provider ... and I know that one. Spent WEEKS calling to find nothing through referrals. With their sliding scale I actually pay around what the co-pay would have been without nearly pulling my hair out to find someone through insurance. The intake forms are long but not dissimilar to what we experienced at other businesses. The difference here is that they stay in communication with you and let you know what is happening. This has worked out so well that even my EX HUSBAND now sees a provider through The Center. Give them a try.

Said she could not tell me why but her manager CAMI could if I wanted further information. Being that her and I had established a strong counselor/client relationship, I was completely blind sided and confused. . At first I was disinterested in more information as I was very upset to hear this news. After a few days, I ended up reaching out to her manager CAMI several times via phone call/voicemail and never got a response In life we all have our triggers , mine are rooted in trust and abandonment. As you can imagine, this event pushed both buttons. At the end of the day, I chose to except the outcome and move on . Deciding to trust in myself and make the choice to be ok without answers. There are individuals who seek therapy that are on a thin line. This event shook me and I would consider myself a pretty stable being. It took me about a year to write this partially because I was embarrassed to share this info. My hopes is that, this post wakes up those at this center. As a counselor , you should never leave a human worse off than you found them. I entered therapy just wanting to do some spring cleaning within myself and left therapy feeling mishandled. I spent months sharing about my life's intimate experiences only to log onto my session one day and be dismissed.
