This organization over billed me and has been promising to refund the monies owed since Mid-June 2023. I have sent several follow-up messages with zero response from both their customer care team as well as my former therapist. I had decided to stop therapy with IntraSpectrum after several months mainly due to my therapist often not following through on promised tools and aftercare work. This combined with the ongoing billing issue has made me seek therapy from a more reputable organization. I would steer clear of IntraSpectrum has I see there are other reviews detailing similar issues to mine. I just wished I had gong to Yelp before starting care with IntraSpectrum. read more

I did have great therapists here although I was abruptly emailed that I'd have to change therapists twice this summer because my current therapist was "no longer associated with the practice" I'd like to note that both therapists I had were fantastic, Bear and Zino. I loved working with each of them. But I'm concerned IntraSpectrum pushes out their best therapists. Both Bear and Zino were some kind of gender nonconforming which,as a nonbinary person myself, was a huge deal for me and very welcome. I wasn't given a reason for their departure so it's pure speculation on my part that they were both driven out. Also if this is true at all it is clashing with their mission of being inclusive for specifically LGBTQIA+people and offering us quality care. If supporting queer people is so important to intraSpectrum, I think they need to work on internally on treating their queer employees with more dignity, respect, and care. It's so clear to me their therapists had not been treated well in their work environment which is so upsetting and antithetical to everything this practice supposedly stands for. So, don't bother unless you want to be shuffled around. Thankful for the wonderful care I did receive when this place was working for me, but I will be seeking care elsewhere. Xoxo read more

Disappointing - Please BEWARE of this practice, let me explain. Overall, I had high hopes for this practice, being a person of the LGBTQIA+ community, it was important to me to work with someone who could understand where I was coming from. Through referral, I found this place. Started well, however, my initial provider cancelled on me day of, a few times, with as little notice as one hour. I am an understanding person and can totally be flexible when folks get sick OR emergencies come up. Out of nowhere, I received an email from Intraspectrum telling me that I had to immediately shift therapists. This was particularly tough for me because it took forever for me to build up the courage to go in the first place. They DID help me pivot to a new provider; however, the paperwork process was wild, they continued to have me complete the same paperwork, multiple times for no reason. Ending up having a few client profiles under my name? This was strange to me given their field of work and what they charge. I was happy with my new service provider, attended weekly without missing a single day. My provider also suggested a process/support group to me, I joined, and had some great take-a-ways from that! It was wonderful to learn, share, and grow together, with other folks from the community. However, my impression of Intraspectrum and their practices with recent events. On Tuesday, March 5th, I informed my service provider that I was very ill, tested positive for Covid-19, and would not be able to attend my appointment later that day. I was in bed, wasn't moving, had a fever, and after discussion with my PCP, was contemplating going to the ER for my labored breathing. My therapist informed me that because my cancel was "late", there would be a charge. I was barely in any condition to be responding to emails about money. However, in that moment, I thought to myself, how can this be? I've been cancelled on a total of (3) times by the therapists I had, during my time at Intraspectrum. I, myself, had never late cancelled once! So later in the week on Friday, March 8th, after I was able to recover a bit, I emailed Client Services around my illness, to ask if they would like a Dr's note, and found out if there was any possibility in waiving the fee. I received a call, four days later, from the Clinical Director of Intraspectrum and he explained that they treat Covid-19 like the Flu, and folks are expected to attend in person OR via telehealth. He then went on to tell me that my request to waive the $135.00 late cancellation fee was denied. I was flabbergasted and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I have managed businesses all my adult life, specifically those that deal with appointments and have never heard of such an absurd practice. You, the Clinical Director, want me to attend a therapy session, with a fever and labored breathing? What is wrong with you? I replied via email to him and have yet to hear a response about my dissatisfaction, explaining that I would like to cancel all future appointments. The company already charged my card on file the amount of $135.00. Because I sent this email, following his phone call Monday, March 11th. My final appointment scheduled was Tuesday, March 12th. THEY CHARGED ME ANOTHER $135.00 for "missing" my final appointment......as their policy states to you MUST give 48 hours notices, however, I once again, never late canceller, nor received the same courtesy when I was cancelled on, by both of my therapists, a total of three times. THIS PLACE IS MONEY HUNGRY! While they have some great folks working for them, I took away a good amount, their practices, operational polices and billing standards are ALL out of wack. If you decide they are worth pursing, please make sure to ask questions, cancel extremely far in advance, and NEVER get sick! I would hate to see anyone else being taken advantage of, like I was. I am left scratching my head and wondering how IntraSpectrum Counseling can be recommended by anyone. After filling out the initial inquiry form I received an email back stating the following: Thank you for taking the time to share a little bit about yourself and your hopes for therapy. We look forward to talking with you soon about how we can help.  A member of our Intake team will follow-up with you via email using the address you submitted. Please note that due to high volume, we are currently experiencing a delay in responding to intake emails and client inquiry messages. If you don't hear back from us within 8-10 business days, please send us an email at help@intraspectrum-chicago.com to make sure we've received your responses. We look forward to meeting you and supporting you in reaching your therapeutic goals. The IntraSpectrum Team That was from March. Didn't hear back from them so I emailed them as instructed. Over 14 days later still no response, so I called but got the message, "The wireless customer you are calling is not available, please try again later." Third email was sent and still no response. I understand that these are difficult times with staff shortages and everything else taken into consideration...but to not call or email back...very unprofessional, especially for a counseling service. Despite the good recommendations I had heard from a few of my clients, I have to disagree. Good luck to anyone who tries to reach them...and if you do, please share how you did it. read more

Messy, messy messy. I haven't been a client for almost 5 months and am STILL getting billed randomly. They have charged for the same assessment multiple times and will just send invoices whenever they want and charge you without any warning. Very negative experience. read more

I highly recommend Jamie Neria for anyone challenged by anxiety and trauma. He understands the LGBTQIA+ perspective and can provide needed guidance and support. Jamie is easy to talk with and offers thoughtful and practical strategies to help clients address a variety of challenges. read more

I believe the staff are incompetent and untrained on multicultural issues and concerns. I was attracted to them because the staff page showed some diversity, but it seems that the staff do not know what they are doing when you are actually sitting in front of them to talk about cultural issues as they intersect with gender and sexual identity. I spoke to some other people in my circle of friends that had a similar experience. I wish that I would have spoken to them sooner so that I could have avoided wasting my time being invalidated. I felt I had to write this review because I wouldn't want any one else to be harmed the way that I was. All and all avoid them at your own risk! read more

My experience with Intraspectrum, and more specifically Mario Serrano, was great! It was easy to sign up (I did so back in summer 2019) and I got placed right away. The work Mario and I did was amazing. While I firmly believe therapy is a life-long endeavor, we were still able to accomplish a lot in my time together. I don't know where I would be without Mario's Help. His attention to detail and memory always surprised me. He would always recall a name that I mentioned purely in passing and it made me feel heard. He also never misgendered me once. While I was sad to end my time with him, I hope some other lucky individual will be able to get to experience what I did! read more

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tevyn Anderson. She is sympathetic and friendly. Unfortunately, my insurance would not cover my visit with her so I had to pay out of pocket but she was more than willing to lower the cost of my session to accommodate my income level which was very generous. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and professional therapist! read more

Sorry to be the voice of dissent here, but I want to point out that Dr Jess Miller is running a scam by describing what she does as therapy, regardless of her level of education and certification. She doesn't even try to listen, and doesn't understand ANYTHING said to her (I've never had this problem with any other therapist). Then, at random intervals, completely out of context, she starts unloading her offensive, mental-illness-shaming assumptions and her narrow, invalidating beliefs about how all queers HAVE to be. Apparently we don't need to import bigots from outside the community anymore, we grow our own. It's sad that Jess Miller chooses to use her platform as a PsyD to oppress and belittle people who should have the opportunity to direct their resources (time, money, emotional energy), toward receiving actual treatment. Unfortunately, there is a small segment of the population content to live irresponsible, destructive lives based on harming others, and Jess is one of these people. In our final session, I asked to be referred out, and she promised to have the intake office match me with another therapist. Months have passed and she never did, but I honestly would have been blown away if she had, since that would have been the only time I ever knew her to act functionally on a basic level. read more

I've attended a number of IntraSpectrum's activities and have helped them educate clients on important issues related to their work - but not in "their lane." Everyone is always professional, yet warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is just as comforting. I highly recommend IntraSpectrum to individuals who need a place to just "be" or explore what "being" is for them. read more
