On 08/14/2019 at 1:00pm (pacific time) I brought my 2016 Volvo XC90 in for a scheduled appointment to have an IID (Interlock Ignition Device) installed as mandated by the State of California. I made the appointment through Intoxalock (customer ID 899430) and your business is one of intoxalock's chosen installers. What was supposed to be a 2-3 hour job turned into one in excess of 29 hours and the result was my car inoperable for over 8 weeks and repairing it at an initial cost of $5279 for a new electrical harness to be built by Volvo Sweden. The build will take 5-8 weeks and in the meantime I have had to rent a car initially for $350 a week but I have downgraded and switched rental companies and now pay only $179 a week. Due to your insistence on installing the IID without the proper schematics for the electrical system and your unqualified installers. You broke/ cut over 10 wires (approximately) (having nothing to do with what you were supposed to be installing) you drilled holes and tore out insulation. Instead of acting like a professional and saying you will not work on the car since you do not have the electrical map/ schematics to the car, you went ahead blindly cutting and pulling out wires to your hearts content. I am forced to recoup cost from you. The car is still at Volvo San Diego and will be there for at least another month, costs could increase and monetary costs quoted in this demand letter are preliminary and could rise substantially as once harness is installed then we see what other systems were affected. Everything has been documented meticulously with photos, receipts and emails and expert witness statements. Intoxalock stated they would not be paying for my rentals during this period as per in their contract THAT I NEVER SIGNED and might I emphasize might pay to fix vehicle. Since you and Intoxalock are one and the same regarding this matter you must also be held liable, actually more liable than Intoxalock because you had choices to make that could of avoided all this and you physically worked on the car. Again I stress costs will rise as we have another 5-8 weeks to wait for part to arrive then 20 hours of manual labor to install it. called Intoxalock for my interlock device worst mistake of my life these guys are major crooks after getting the device installed my truck wouldn't start every time I called they kept saying it was my truck not the device and never wanted to try and fix the issue but once I got the device out started no problem also they like to hang up on you and not call back would not recommend doing business with these crooks negative 5 star review!!!!! read more

The incorrect license number was listed on my installation certificate causing me to waste a trip to the DMW as well as delayed getting my license by several days and resulting in an additional trip to the DMV. Also I had more than a 20 minute wait to speak to a customer service representative. read more

0 stars. I plead guilty to a dui after blowing a 0.00. It seemed cheaper then paying my ridiculously expensive attorney that turns out I couldn't afford. I thought I'd just lose my lisc for 90 days and pay a fine. I had no idea the DOL has its own consequences. Intoxilock sent the wrong unit to the wrong install location approx 143 miles from my scheduled install. 3 times ina row. So I'd pay a friend to follow another friend in my car on a 90 mile road trip just to be told "we have your appointment and work order, but no device...... I was promised a $100 rebate at installation (never happened) I had payed for the first months rental in November of 2020........ the state couldn't figure out how I was charged with a dui after seeing the breath and blood tests. So it took them forever to complete my ADIS assessment. So I stressed to my agent how important it was to get it installed by the 1st of June. Just got it installed on the 9th.... after 3 lost units. So the dol has tripled the length of time I have to have this in. And that 10/2020 payment has disappeared. Thanks Stan at extension 236 and Jim at extension 326 for costing me thousands of extra dollars after being out of work for almost 9 months (I live in a rural area, we have no busses) a Uber to work and back would cost approx $130 a day..... read more

I hope someone reads this and will carefully take in what's going on in this shady ass industry like the DMV, EDD an the many other companies that are so willing to set us up for failure. So much head ache, heart ache and negative energy that goes in to ones body bc Intoxalock, Guardian an other establishments such as these have no backbone or genuine loyalty to their customers it's disgusting. Believe me if I could rate Intoxalock with no stars I would!! I have tried everything an anything to speak to anyone regarding assistance. Email, online chat, tried calling the ppl who installed my system.."sorry can't help You Sir," tried calling numerous times, numerous day... I finally got ahold of one fool(employee) named Pedro who heard my concerns an then quickly transferred me to customer service an was never heard from again... AND THE ONLY REASON I REACHED HIM WAS CALLING FROM ANOTHER # THAT WAS NOT MINE BC THATS HOW THEY PROGRAM YOUR ACCOUNT SO THAT YOU CAN NEVER REACH THEM BC THEY ARE GREEDY AND DONT WANT TO PAY TO HIRE MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. They are raking in thousands If not millions on our misfortunes and could care-less... especially during this pandemic. So thank U so much Pedro for Ur fine customer service You fuc!! No help whatsoever, and good luck when You schedule a non calibration maintenance on my vehicle. And be ready to pay the penalties an $40 charge every time. Warning Do not use intoxalox!!!! They trick and scam vulnerable people and more people need to know how bad of an experience I had had with intoxalox. The volume on my device I'd not loud anymore. I fought with an agent who agreed to credit the $75 fee who assured me she got the fee dropped. I check my bank and find out they took the $75 anyhow. I call them back and a different agent tells me they can not credit the $75 for simply not hearing the device go off. Please just trust me and go with anyone but intoxalox!!!! read more

I'm actually a mf paying customer who had this for a year in my dam car. It sucked. Yes u pay monthly. Yes u pay for calibration. That's the price for drinking n driving. But I've never had a problem with Intoxolock. I've always had good customer service. Never had a problem with my machine. Actually one time! My grandma was tying to drive my car and she made it drain my battery and have a lock out on the machine. Intoxolock didn't charge me for it and understood my situation. The new battery was my grandma's fault anyways. Not theirs. I don't know how so many people have problems with this company. Just pay your bills and dont do or try anything stupid with your machine. Period. I just closed out my account yesterday with them and everything went smoothly. I never have to call intoxolock again. It's over. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I've had the breathalyzer in my car for almost two years. I know I got myself in the situation, so I'm expecting them to not care... but their customer service was actually one of the worst I've experienced. You will be on hold for 30 minutes each time, they aren't kind nor helpful. They claim you have 24/7 access and assistance, and that's a lie. I got stranded at night for an issue with the device... something that wasn't my fault, and they left me there. There are also a million hidden fees, like so so hidden, and they just add it to your bill without telling you. When my license was suspended for three months, my car died. They charged me $75 for a lock out fee since my car had to be jumped. I wasn't upset about having it in my car, it actually helped change my life. I'm so grateful for it, but Intoxalock is a horrible company. I've talked to many people that say the same thing. I've heard Guardian is a way better company. So take it from a first time offender who had no idea what to do, don't go with these people. Baffling. read more

Worst company ever doing business with. They change their reasons,excuses, rules you can never get a straight answer. Everyone you talk to had some different answer. They over charge you and even double charge you. They are not honest. They intentionally don't send in calibration orders. Some of them straight up lie. I was fraudulently charged for the roadside assistance and extra $4 a month for 10/12 months in 2022 & 3/5 months in 2023. I tried to cancel the roadside assistance last year and was met with a complicated process so I decided to keep the assistance due to its cheap price (before being double charged) the notation on my account for ONLY monthly withdrawls was ignored. so in 2022 they withdrew $40 increments of $4 unauthorized. And in 2023 $15. Magically now when I call again and mention fraud and how long they've been taking my money cancellation was possible over the phone and will be refunded the money from this year. scheduling to put this device on my car VOLUNTARILY was easy. Taking it off was a nightmare. Then add on the additional roadside assistance fraudulently taking my money adding insult to injury also difficult to cancel initially. Try somewhere else first. Use this place as a last resort. I'll be waiting for my refund. read more

I wish I could give zero stars . They have the worst customer service. But it's my fault for not reading the reviews . They charge you so much fees and on top of that I keep getting into a lock out, they say it's wiring issues but has happened 5 times in less than 6 weeks. I'm starting to think they are purposely doing this to get money . Thinking about a law suit !! Don't use them I have two months left , and I can't not wait to get rid of them ! If I could give zero stars I would. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! On the initial paperwork for the DMV they got my drivers license number wrong so I had to wait for them to mail the corrected paperwork (AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED AND I WAS BEING CHARGED). Then they MISSPELLED MY NAME!!!! Waited again for them to remail the corrected paperwork. Whenever I asked to speak with a supervisor they refused to do so, was charged an exorbitant amount on my last bill because they don't prorate and had they not messed up I wouldn't have been charged for an extra month. BUYER BEWARE, THIS COMANY JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY WITHOUT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAS NO ETHICS. read more

There is not 24 hour customer service as advertised, and it's difficult to get a real person. Intoxalock reported a tamper violation after I informed them of vehicle maintenance and supplied supporting documentation. This resulted in my license being revoked. Then this company charged me for an early removal fee and refused to let me speak with a supervisor. Too bad there isn't an option for no stars. read more

This a corrupt corporation! Yes, it is always best to not put yourself in the situation to not have to deal with this kind of service, but when you have to deal with a company that literally does nothing but try to screw you over it is very frustrating! I have been trying to get the device removed, and customer service is absolutely terrible. Sit on hold for atleast 20 mins to be hung up on multiple times. Every person that I have spoke to has given me a different answer. I refuse to pay over 100 bucks a month for a service that can't even be used! Now my vehicle will sit locked up untill the issue is resolved! They are literally holding our vehicle hostage. I have done what they asked, but they change the requirements everytime I call. If you ever find yourself needing this service do everything in your power to use a different business! Smart Start is available in our area! And let me add they have been amazing!!! read more

SCAMMERS, THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. AVERAGE CALL 2 HOURS AND MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. BY THE TIME YOU GET TO THE PERSON YOU ASKED FOR YOU LEAVE A VM THAT WILL NEVER BE RETURNED. GIGI PAINE "I think is her name can't hardly understand it" I've left several the past month. Never a call back. I wish I could attach photos to show my call log and the countless hours I've spent resolving nothing and why? I caught them scamming me in june and after many hours and back reviews I got a call and he put money back on my card and was told to only deal with him but I realized it was a partial payment and they were over charging me every month now up to 11 months and Brandon will not call me back and no one will help me so I write more bad reviews and Daniel called me back a Tuesday before Thanksgiving after being put in a lock out for a payment of $89 when they had recites for $130 and refused to apply the $130 said $65 in good faith and I still needed to pay. I didn't have the money so I went into a lock out. I was up in the mountains at a cabin with my dying dad who we lost the next week. The fact I crossed 8 creeks and a river to get there and over 3 HOURS away from home and almost 3 hours from any service center. I called daily at the time if the lock out for non payment thinking someone would see the credits and adjust my account and put difference back on my card cuz it took every cent and borrowed money to take my dad to his favorite place for our final holiday. It was myself and 2 small children my brother and my dad. We out everything we had to make this trip happen and I spent 3-4 hours daily and had to drive about 15 minutes up the mountains to get service and NO HELP. Lots of holding or them hanging up after asking to transfer. And I remembered that after leaving bad reviews in June Brandon called me and said only deal with him and fixed my account and put money on my card. So I did the same and left bad reviews because Brandon wasn't returning my calls and in fact no now was the past month. So the last day before my car is locked out Daniel calls me about bad review and that guy and I spent hours doing 3rd grad math together until light went off and said $461 when I had $499 but who cares I want my money. Now I'm speaking with a lady after being transferred again and on the phone non stop since 11am and now 2:15 and I'm back on hold because I asked her "WHY CANT YOU PUT THE $461 BACK IN MY ACCOUNT AND SHE HAD NO ANSWER AND OUT ME ON HOLD AGAIN TO GET ME A ANSWER AND JUST CAME BACK ON RHE KINE AND SAID SHE IS TRANSFERRING ME AGAIN AND STILL REFUSING TO ANSWER MY QUESTION. I ALSO REALIZE AND ASKED HER WHY MY DEBT CARD ON FILE WAS DELETED AND ONLY A PREPAID WAS ON FILE. THEY SAY THE CANT RETURN MONEY TO PREPAID CARDS YET THEY DID IN JUNE. I DIDN'T DELETE MY CARD SO SOMEONE DID. I TOLD DANIEL TO REMOVE THE PREPAID AND WE DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE REMOVING BUT STILL SAID I HAVE TO HAVE A CHECK OR MONEY OUT ON A DIFFERENT CARD BECAUSE $499 THEY OVER CHARGING ME WAS TO HIGH. EVEN WORSE IS IVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY MONEY NOW FOR 2 WEEKS BECAUSE I HAVE TI PAY $1100 back to a check into cash place in 30 DAYS from my lock out they shouldn't have done. I had got extension until Friday and after calling mon-fri. No help and now I have to pay a 49% INTREST on a loan because they screwed up again and customer service doesn't care and won't help anyone who can help is straight to VM and never calls back so here I am another week and it's been a full time job for a month and still on hold so almost 4 hours today read more

this is the SECOND TIME my vehicle has been completely disabled due to nothing I can control!!!! this company has absolutely ZERO remote control of their interlock devices if you run into an issue out of your control...... their only answer is "sorry, tow it, maybe we can reimburse you for your $200 tow if you email us your receipt we will "look into it."" okay, and what if I dont have the $200 to tow my vehicle? the company has been paid for their device routinely by me via autopay but you want me to TOW my vehicle because your service providers dont offer service? they try to control you using the words "state mandated." read more

The single worst experience I have ever had with a product, company policies, and customer service. First let's start with the product itself. Yeah I get it I got in trouble; that's on me, but why would you then try to deter dangerous driving by putting in A machine that completely distracts the driver? This machine goes off so quietly that you have to turn down any noise including rolling up windows to be able to use it. Not to mention the 3+ minutes it takes to grab the machine, blow into properly, and then put it back, all while driving. Absolutely backwards solution to a problem. It's clear no who designs or programs their devices has ever dealt with one. Second. Company policies. Hours on the phone to set up simple things. The wait times especially for technical support is unbelievable and multiple times I've been dropped in the middle of a call or just simply left on hold. Also when you try and get the device removed, even after sending in the correct paper work, they still couldn't schedule a removal date because "the approved place wasn't picking up the phone". So the procedure is to call them, wait on hold, have them call the auto shop and schedule your appointment. Doesn't this seem totally pointless? Oh but you can't schedule an appointment yourself because intoxalock has to send in paperwork, which they can't do if the place doesn't pick up the phone. Thirdly, and mostly the main reason I'm leaving this review is because not one single person in customer support is saying the same information. I had a broken device install in my car, it malfunctions on my way to work, I call tech support to get help while this device is going off every 5 minutes threatening a lock out, on hold for 45 minutes then they drop the call, call back on hold for another 30 minutes and the only solution to fix this machine is to.... unplug it and plug it back in. Seriously!? That's the best you got!? I can't drive my car if your machine that I'm paying for doesn't work and that's your solution? Finally took matter into my own hands and got the device fix but still had to call and wait on hold to tell them it was fix at a different place then they had on file. Because of the dropped calls I had to call back many times for the same issue and I promise you I did not get two of the same answers. The customer service reps and inept and uncaring and know less about this product then anyone. Any answer you get from them is wrong and should be double checked. I wish I could rate this entire experience 0. If your charging someone for a service and product you have to do way better then this. They make a difficult situation even more stressing, time consuming, expensive, and troublesome read more

Have had nothing but problems. First thing i was charged twice what the salesperson quoted for installation Then after the device was installed I was required to electronically sign a contract. Then tons of add on fees. The device required rolling tests. Once I drove the car less than half a mile to get lunch. The device didnt have time to request a rolling test before i shut the car off. Result i was charged $84.00. For refusing a test that was never requested. More fun was had as the drive back to work took the same amount of time and another $84.00 fee I allready had take two tests to start the car all in a 15 minute trip for lunch. $168.00 lunch. read more

BS fees left and right, I gave them my postal code and they set up my install about 2hrs away from where I live at. After this intoxalock explained it was cheaper installing it at that business but then charged me 50 some dollars for a no show fee because I called the day prior to install date not knowing it was in another city although they credited a 100$ mail in rebate after this, the billing statements are a hard pill to swallow also and multiple charges of the same description in the same month often. I know the competitors would be a better option because some offer you to have the recalibration device mailed direct to your home then you just mail the old back so do your research and find 1 other than Intoxalock read more

I got the interlock system in my car almost 6 months ago now, I've had 3 out lock outs since, and two violations. One violation because i used mouth wash before going to work (forgetting I had this thing in my car) and the other because I had my keys in the ignition while blowing a sample. I've called the intoxalock customer service to ask why I kept getting locked out for a violation 11 and what it meant. They couldn't tell me exactly what the issue was and assumed it was because I started my car without blowing a sample, anyone who has an interlock system knows how impossible that is, as your car will not turn on without blowing a sample. It's very frustrating because you have to call their customer service to schedule an appointment to have you device reset which is $75 just to make the appointment, then pay an additional $30 at the shop at the time of service. At this point I'm livid with the fact that their customer service can not tell me the exact issue so that I can avoid this happening again, It's their system, they should be able to tell me the exact reason this is happening not just make these ridiculous guesses. read more

I just had thing installed in my car a couple days ago and I only drove the car twice to and from work. All the sudden it is now going into Violation 3 and starts counting down to lockout. Took the car to the service garage and they tell me Intoxolock said I manipulated the sysem. I know absolutely nothing about these devices not alone being able to manipulate one. Now here I am with a little over a week left with my House Arrest and am in fear of breaking probation. Absolutely cannot get ahold of a customer service rep to see what's going on...Thanks a lot Intoxolock...you suck. read more

Absolutely horrible experience! Please do not use them! Horrible customer service, horrible device- ruined the battery in my brand new car. The device has to be replaced-installed on my dime for their malfunction. They never fully reimbursed me for the tows- charged outrageous prices and charged me after I had the unit and my lease was done! Said there's nothing they can do about the fact that they took an auto-draw payment from me near the end of my lease that made me pay for the device after it was removed from my car! This last year has been pure hell dealing with them- I wouldn't wish this company and it's customer service on my own worst enemy. They employ their customer service center in India or something so the agents are really difficult to even talk to! How can you communicate about things going on here in front of me regarding state rules and regulations and driving scenarios when you're from a completely different place? I wish there was a zero but there isn't this place is the worst you can't even talk to anybody on the phone we have had that breathalyzer for 10 days paid $125 installing then paid another 103 and then he got a lockout and now we still owe $132 and we've had the breathalyzer for 10 days add it up! are we seriously supposed to keep this thing for six months I really don't see this happening there's got to be a breathalyzer place out there that is honest and upfront these people are not! my son only has a bank account he has no bank card no credit card so I got the install and paid his first bill on my credit card and now they have it listed for all of his payments I wanted it out of there they refused! they said he had to have a bank card or credit card on file in order to be with them, Since we were not told this right upfront then they need to let us out of this lease we have not signed the agreement yet read more

Unfortunately at least one star was required to write this review. However, one star far exceeds what this company deserves. It is apparent that they are a monopoly and recognize that you were court or dmv ordered to have this device because they lie, cheat and steal from their customers. If you have a concern or issue, you will get hung up on, transferred, told it has been escalated to management and you will still get no resolution. I have made 23 phone calls over 19 days and am still at square one. But enough of my soapbox, we are screwed and they know it. My only suggestion is to KEEP EVERY RECEIPT, EVERY QUOTE, DOCUMENT ALL PHONE CALLS AND SAVE ALL EMAILS as it is still not enough to keep you from getting screwed but may be admissible in court if you have the resources to sue and fight for your cause. that star I marked in rating this company is only because it made me pick one before posting my review. If there was a negative rating I feel quite certain this company would take the lead. To begin with there is a long wait time to speaks to a representative (once you hand the device on and have an issue) . Second, the have no representatives that speak fluent English so next to impossible to understand what bullshit they are going to give you and then pretend not to understand what your asking. They charge you all kinds of different fees that are not listed in their lease and then when it's time to take the interlock off they will not have the required paperwork from the state on removal date therefore wanting to charge more money for having the device still I your vehicle. I would recommend anywhere but here to fulfill the state requirements. I am giving this company -5. I have been having issues since May 2022. Every month since May I have had to get the Unit replaced. Since August every two weeks. To replace the unit it a $20 fee. Since mid July I have many issues, biggest one is where I hit a bump, the unit flickers on and displays the version of software that is currently on and then goes into a sync mode. This happens on a daily basis (I am not exagerating). Intoxalock says I need to get an inspection ($175), clearly this is not issue. No where in the manuals does it say avoids bumps in the road. The service center will not do an inspection, unless I pay out of my pocket, this is because INTOXALCOCK doesn't pay their BILLS. With this said I have went to lunch and could not start my car back up, I have been on way to work and the vehichle with not start up, I have been grocery shopping, and my car will not start up. It has happened so many times I will not allow myself to get angry about it anymore. I have turned a formal complaint into the State of KS regardin g this company. Yes the forms are located on the Topeka website through the Highway Patrol. Now let me back trace; I pay money for the roadside assistance, the last two times I tried to use the roadside assistance no one showed up. First time I waited for 4 hours and I contacted a family member to come help me after 8 hours the roadside team contacted me and said they was having issues. Every time you call into this company its a isn't a quick call you can expect to be on the phone 40 minutes to an hour. The bad thing is if the representative doesn't want to deal with you they hang up, yes another fine feature of the company. This company needs to be closed. I give this whole deal 2 middle fingers up. Ive had this in my vehicle for a little under 2 months. Or over idk.... but 150 to install. Took 10 minutes, 60 bucks a check. Already got me for 3 lockouts, and 50 bucks to recalibrate. The lockout part os the part that infuriates me. I DONT EVEN DRINK. my dui was not even alcohol-related. First lockout i was eating pizza. They dont care 75 bucks. 2nd one i locked my keys in the car with it runing. So as im trying to coat hanger my door open its making my car alarm go off. I disconect the battery just till i get the door open. I tell them they dont care 75 bucks. And this last one i got back to work after lunch break, im working and someone says "hey is that your car alarm going off". So i go see whats up... appearently, im supposed to blow in this thing when im not even in the vehicle and the motor isnt even running. I tell them i refuse to pay this charge. They said they would have it reviewed and have made a decision before i get locked out. Well then 4 days later and i called them everyday inbetween these 4 says to remind them and check the status. So 4 minutes before lockout at 9pm on a sunday, I CALL THEM!!!!! And they tell me take it to the place i had it installed for the reset. Had no choice but to remote unlock it. 75 bucks. I DONT DRINK ALCOHOL. MY DUI WAS NOT ALCOHOL. IT WAS DRUGS. I DONT FUCKING DRINK. ITS TO MUCH WORK. Now if i blew and i was over the legal limit WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION UNDER MY CONTROL... BY ALL MEANS CHARGE AWAY. but if im not in the vehicle and its not in motion and i dont blow in it because im not in the vehicle... you dont get to collect. And all this money being charged is going to india. How awesome is that. I am the sole provider 5 person family. They act like thats not alot money. So every 2 weeks im charged 138 dollars. I am currently using this horrible and useless service. Don't EVER get this. They are 100% con artists. The initial sales people will act friendly but they will tell you lies and you will ABSOLUTELY be charged more than you are quoted. The guy I spoke to kept telling me he was fixing all the issues I was facing because of their own fault, when in reality he did nothing to help and referred me someone else once I paid the first bill. My paperwork was f'd up by them, so they thought it made sense to charge me for their own mistake?? The device is saying I have a violation now which makes absolutely no sense since I only drive the damn car to work and home and have never even missed a stupid rolling re-test!! The customer service rep is telling me I need to take the car into the shop so data can be transferred over to them to determine was caused the violation?? This is going to cost me $80+ and who knows what BS reason they're going to give for this. I would love to sue or expose this company somehow beyond this but at the end of the day, anybody getting an interlock is "wrong" to begin with. Go anywhere but here. Stay away and pay extra money somewhere else because this company will find a way to charge you double that regardless. Can't wait til my time is up with them. Use any other available company. Faulty equipment left me stranded near wildfire evacuation area. Many problems with company, too many to list. Been trying weeks to get it legally removed and they ignore me. Want even more money. Paid in full day I signed up, and I'm probaly three times over that in added on b.s. charges. I am aware, that I messed up first and foremost by getting into trouble by driving under the influence in the first place. Nothing good can come from this. For the sake of this review however I'd rather discuss the many downsides of this company of scammers. One of those unfortunate events you'll find yourself coming across is the interlock system installed in your vehicle. When this occurs... DO NOT use Intoxalock for your service provider. I can not stress enough baffled I am as to how this company of liars and theives can operate a business equivalent to calling a bank robber a good branch of banking service. I'd rate them in the negative numbers if I could! Let's get started: Upon agreeing with the terms of service associated with intoxalock, you will be given a brick sized device that you have to pay for to get installed as well as recalibrated in what they tell you is monthly. Instead of monthly the screen on the device will read violation and give you a lockdown every two weeks. This is of course when you didn't violate anything other than having a faulty device. If you do not drive your vehicle to place that installed the device to have the lockdown warning removed, your vehicle WILL NOT START! They give you an app which they'll tell you to install in order to "avoid lockouts" which is completely useless but you can call them right? After waiting on the phone, for an hour on a good day if you choose to call them and from what I've read from other reviews and YouTube complaints, additional fees added to your account by just calling. So, here's where the scam starts: The first calls will have you on the phone with a clear spoken person. They'll tell you they will look into the problem and then "beat around the bush" leaving you no choice but to pay for an extra calibration every month. The lockout fee set was at 75 dollars which they doubled and tripled costing around 225 everytime. You remember me telling you how it cost money to have the device simply in your car? Expect that to be added two and three times added to your credit card bill as well. If you have this device in your car for a year, you could be spending close to 3000 dollars in additional fees. "Run wire" is a reading that comes up often on the handheld device. If you ask your service station about this, they'll tell you Intoxalock is in the wrong, if you ask Intoxalock, the service station is the one who is incorrect. The most likely answer is that they're both in on the scam because you'll be given an additional fee at the service station anyway. If you are confused yet by the amount of money you have already spent, you shouldn't be as you are reading this correctly. Anyway, back to the phone calls. I forgot to mention the lack of communication they will have with the court system. So if you are on probation, need to contact or look at your status provided by the DMV, DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as this company fails to provide this information to them! After they overcharge you constantly, then the service provider bills you too. Once they have you on the additional payments, expect the caller on the other line (English is my first language) to be a caller from outside of the United States. Other reviews I've read on people who have Spanish as their first language have similar complaints. In addition you will again be put on a "wild goose chase" in order to provide information they pretend to care about, only to take more of your money. One of the times I called, a guy on the other line was playing with his dog, borderline, ignoring what I was saying. Additional complaints that are frequently addressed that I myself didn't encounter but am in way surprised of include: 1. The device draining the battery of the vehicle 2. The newer cars unable to use the ignition because of the device. I was however told, I needed a new starter in my car when the frequent problem was either the wire, the device or a combination of both. 3. Falsifying car breakdowns. It should be noted however, that you must call your interlock service provider in case of breakdown and vehicle maintenance. It would also be nice if that information was given to you. 4. False samples (this one I see as a bit more understandable (mouthwash, certain foods etc.) But a false sample by a defective device seems to be moreso the common complaint. To end this long review not only should Intoxalock receive a lawsuit against them for the scam that they are, it should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. For quality of service, just take a look at their ratings. read more

Sooo, in this latest episode of "how can intoxalock make your day worse!" I shut my car off and went into a store to pick up a few things. Never once heard the device make a noise. Was in the store for a half hour and came back out to find that my device was in a lockout. I call the company, they say I'm in a lockout due to not blowing for the retest. Funny, my vehicle was turned off and I was inside the store when they say the retest went off. Even have pics from inside the store at the same time it was supposedly going off about a retest. I call the company, they say I had to have left my car running when it went off for a retest. Guess they don't realize that gas is too expensive right now to leave the car running. Now, I have had that device for over 2.5 years now and have never had a lockout for failing to retest or having alcohol in my system, I think I know how it works. Now I'm all the sudden being told that I have to wait for 2-3 minutes after shutting off my vehicle. I have never once been told that in the entire time I have had this garbage in my vehicle. Oh, I called a day later and the next agent I spoke with said that she was going to do an investigation and get back to me within 24 hours. That was Monday, 2 days ago. Btw, I have a camera in my vehicle and the lady told me that she could check the video to see if I had shut off and exited the vehicle before the restest went off. Plus, looking at the bill, it's not a $75 fee, it's an $80 fee. Think I'm gonna have to my lawyer in on this one. Intoxalock, ya'll have gotten enough of my damn money and if there was another company within 50 miles, I would drop your sorry company. Thank God I should only have a couple of months left with this crap! read more

. Overall this experience with Intoxalock has been AWFUL! -10/10 I DO NOT recommend this company. It's extremely difficult to get a hold of an actual person. They want you to use the app they provide WHICH doesn't even allow you to request a work order for calibrations through it. You have to go to the actual site and request them. I live an hour away from where I work so to have my vehicle good to go is an NEED. Friday my box just decided to crap the bed & need to be replaced. Intoxalock said bc it wasn't my fault they'd pay for the tow to the shop & back to wherever I needed it. I had to call their roadside assistance & roadside proceeded to tell me it only covers 15 miles so I had to pay the extra 17 miles each way. They tow it to the service center which by the time it got there they were closed & didn't open again till Monday. I call Intoxalock back telling them this & they continue to tell me it will be done Saturday even though the SERVICE CENTER ISNT OPEN TILL MONDAY. So I call Saturday just to check & NO ONE IS THERE, shocker. Monday I call the garage (meanwhile again I live an hour away from work & work Friday - Wednesday) they never received the part & don't have backups. So here I am Tuesday still waiting on a new box & customer service won't transfer me to a supervisor when I've asked SEVERAL times. After being on hold for 36 minutes waiting for a supervisor to talk to because I've been crashing on coworkers couches or UBERING an hour and back to work. THIS IS OUT OF HAND to say the least. They refuse to give me ANY paperwork on this situation showing what is going on so I can provide it to the courts. Save yourself more trouble & DO NOT use this company read more

They just charged me when I did not owe them any money. They just locked out my car for the third time claiming that I did not blow in time. The device says you have 4 minutes to blow and every 30 seconds it's beeping and saying that I did not blow in time. I was supposed to get it out March of 2020 and here we are February 2021. They called me and asked me if my car was my daily driver I answered yes and they said my machine is broke and they will fix it for free. Mean while they claim during the time it was broken I blew a .04 and they locked out my car. They just charged me $144.00 after I just paid them 630.00. I go to my car this morning to take my son to the dentist my car is locked out again. I call to ask why and they say I did not blow during a re-test. That's absolutely not true as I am extremely cautious sine the whole "machine is broken" incident and really really tired of them manipulating my machine. There is no way i missed a re-take the machine screams at me every time I don't blow hard enough and scream louder when If I miss a blow. This is complete insanity and beyond absurd. Now I have to pay for another tow truck to come out and take my car to get re-calibrated for the third time and pay them again on my dime. This is insanity and I need to find someone to help me because customer service is so rude and refuses to listen to the customer. At this point I think I may need a lawyer idk what else to do. If you like being financially raped then threatened with jail, Intoxilock is for you. The company needs to be shut down for fraud with a class action lawsuit and it is run by a bunch of crooks. The handheld is absolute garbage and goes off every 5 to 8 minutes screaming at you for another sample. It will shut down your engine without warning, with the alarm going off without a violation...it's really dangerous. When you call, they send you to Mumbai to a group of call center who are all con artists who don't speak English. I have had to buy a new battery, pay for false lockouts, and for service when it goes on the fritz through no fault of my own. They take no responsibility for their faulty product that is just as dangerous as drinking or texting while driving. They know damn well that they are the absolute worst company on earth and are proud of it. I have seriously have had thought of suicide so many times since this thing was installed. If you try and talk to someone in the courts about the criminal extortion they rely on for their shareholders] you are laughed at. There customer service is terrible. They just hang up on You. There equipment is old and runs your car. The tops falls off the machine and rolls under seats in the middle of machine going off. Truly extremely unsafe i Have almost got into so many accidents. They automatically charge you a 5.95 monthly protection plan fee. I have never signed anything to do with this. They refuse to refund me or take it off my plan. Complete crooks and the states should not allow how crooked they are. I had a Intoxalock representative talking to a DMV State person asking for something they needed and they were talking to them after the DMV State person and waited to get throw to a person took 30 mins and they were talking to him and I and since they didn't understand the sheet he was asking for they decided to hang up on them. They always hang up they don't understand English. The first person that sells you on this Intoxalock is from the US. After that good luck. I am uninstalling this device and going with another compan. DO NOT USE THIS fraudulent Company truly are Crooks. The states Minnesota and Wisconsin will here about this. I did my time. (5months), in regards to the device, the only complaint I have was draining my battery a couple of unexplained random times. Other than that, yes it was an inconvenience, but you get used of it. I drank and drove, and accept this "inconvenience" as It's better than killing someone. But with intoxalock, I feel extorted and now a hostage! First had to pay an extra month because they started billing me the day I gave them my information to get started, and yet to even have the device installed as my old car wasn't ready yet. Now I can't get a response on app or a live person, as I'm trying to get my device removed since my court order time has been up since a month ago. Nobody live is available except for the salesperson when you first sign up. The app is helpful, especially for taking your payment and scaring you with random warning signs now and then, reminding you a collaboration is due. But I have clicked on "DEVICES REMOVAL" for 5 weeks now and NOBODY has responded like their message says it will. The only notification I receive is my lease is about to expire again. I'm not paying or signing another lease until God or a lawyer appears and helps me get out of this kidnapping. read more

Horrible. Has a "rolling Lockout" was doing some monthly maitainance on my car. Checking fluids battery, etc... missed the time frame while checking the transmission fluid (car has to be running) was frantically blowing in the device would not take the "blow" time ran out and the lockout occurred. the device immediatly reset and within seconds i blew in it again and passed the test. tried to get them to reset without the fee...would not refund my $75. said i had already been given my " grace" reset (one that would be free), this one was due to my battery going dead....older vehicle (2007, no automatic turn off light device, left the lights on). I surely hope these people never experience any car trouble (battery dead), checking fluids etc.. and have to pay $75 bucks.....whatever happened to common courtesy (empathy) to people when they have the ability to check the camera and see you trying to "blow" (with the exact time to the second) then can see you blowing in it seconds later (on the camera) with the time(just seconds later with a pass. $$$$$$$$$$$ all bout the MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$ these people are NOT HUMAN!!!!!! read more

"Nightmare Experience with Intoxalock: Overpriced and Unhelpful" I can't express how disappointed I am with Intoxalock's services. The exorbitant prices alone would make anyone reconsider, but the real horror lies in the abysmal customer service. Dealing with their automated answering service is a labyrinth, forcing customers to play a guessing game just to talk to someone. And when you finally do, they apologize profusely but offer no solutions. The random lockouts are infuriating, triggered by minor issues like a slightly moved camera. It's absurd that such trivial matters result in being stranded. What's worse is that their team, despite understanding the frustration, refuses to take any meaningful action. Requests for refunds or transfers to supervisors are met with a firm "no," leaving customers feeling trapped in a service that cares more about extracting money than providing a reliable and reasonable experience. Do NOT use these crooks! Owned and/or operated by lawyers who specialize in breaking up American companies for foreign profit! The former president, now an "outside consultant" still has valid ties to Chinese interests! Avoid these parasites at all costs. They have absolutely no values, morals, or ethics. They take money from accounts they have been expressly forbidden to touch and now my son can't use his bank account for fear they will steal his pay!!! They do not respond to emails. I sincerely wish I would have read these reviews before allowing them to install an IID in my mother's vehicle. The original service center who installed it totally botched the job. Shotty wiring held together loosely by tape. The faulty wiring killed the battery in a brand new vehicle. We're lucky it didn't start the car on fire. We had to pay $400 to the mechanics to fix the wiring. A new IID can't even be installed without a complete rewiring...that's how bad the installers messed it up. As everyone else says, it's a pain in the @$$ to get ahold of their customer service. Multiple calls lasting 45+ minutes. They just bounce you around until they eventually hang up. So frustrating! They will not reimburse for the damage caused during installation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE!! read more

I had this company over 3 years ago and my car got locked out in the middle of my driveway because of a dead battery so I called them they said I was going to have to have my car towed to have it calibrated again this was not the first time I had problems with them had problems since day one with over billing and the equipment so that day I told them I want it out of my car so had to pay the company to come to my house and remove it costed me $375. These are the WORST PEOPLE to deal with!!!! The Customer service center reps are SO RUDE and talk down to you, like your a dirty criminal. They made me jump through so many hoops to even remove the Intoxalock from my car. I had it set up voluntarily, but they said I needed authorization from my probation officer, which I DON NOT HAVE. This morning I was trying to set up an appointment to get my interlock device off after 2 years, and I spoke with somebody on the phone around 8:30 AM, they said it was all taken care of... However it wasn't... I called back this afternoon, and a wonderful person by the name of Kenya Holloway answered, and from then on took care of everything I needed to accomplish. She was so nice, and did everything she needed to do to make my experience go perfectly. Zero stars. This company is here to steal your money. The intoxilock drains your battery. The device malfunctioned and left me stranded on Thanksgiving. I've already violated 3 times and all were bs. Don't eat pizza and drive. I got a violation 11 for no reason and talked to 4 different people and they didn't resolve it. They tried to say I started my car without blowing into my machine. That's impossible. Then they tried to say I stepped on my brake pedal. That's a violation? What's that have to do with drinking a driving? These people are crooks and you'll be stuck with these devices for life after they just keep finding ways to violate you. read more

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY, At 1st it was fine, my truck just had a new engine installed and it died starting last week, so apparently in the middle of Corona virus, no work, no food, no money, they are charging me$75 for a "lock out" and another $35 to the shop recalibrating it. This is a HORRIBLE company, go with any ANY other breathalyzer company, just not this one. They will over charge all the time and you're forced to pay it. I would rather go through criminal court 10x over than have had this machine on my car for even five minutes. P.S. they'll tell you that it doesn't hurt your car.
