Inertrips provides a great way to travel to Asia with flights and hotels included plus breakfast included with a local guide that knows the secrets of the places you are visiting and the best way to go abroad. You can easily pay just for flights if you book by yourself and this way you just have so much fun with other tourists that have the same interests as you. I recommend this all the way!!

The Cost: (5 STARS) $599 for "12 days China Trip" on Livingsocial or Groupon. Sometimes, both website offer 10% off for getaway deals. So keep an eye on it!! Setup an account & be on their mailing list~ $599 - visiting 6 cities, 1 international flight, 2 domestic flights, 10 nights of hotel, 10 breakfast & 4 lunches. English speaking tour guide at every city. They also take care all transpiration (to-from airport & city to city). $599 is for double occupancy in one hotel room. If you are going solo there will be additional $400. There is also $120 mandatory service fee (tips). If I book the trip separately, the flights, hotel, transportation & food will definitely be way more than their price!!! Therefore, this package is really a GOOD deal! The Service: (5 STARS) Anni Wang from LA office was my designated contact. Super professional, always respond to my email promptly with detail answer! Since I decided to apply for China visa on my own, she has prepared the flight confirmation & itinerary for me to include with my visa application (very thoughtful & helpful!!) They do offer visa service with service fee because they have to drop off application & pick up visa (very time consuming). If you have two free days to use and would like to apply it yourself, check out my review/tips on "Consulate General People Republic of China". The Tour: Even though it is called "12 Days China Tour". The first day is on the flight. On the last day, leaving to airport at 11am. So actually 10 full days in China. The Flight - Our Air China flights were all on time! The Transportation - Our group was 38 people. Big bus, very comfortable. They also provided FREE bottle water on the bus. The Hotel - Very clean & comfortable. A few were in very good location, perfect to explore at night. They had free coffee, tea & bottle water in the room. The Tour Guides - English speaking tour guides at every city. All very professional, especially Frank & Eric in Beijing and Peter in the last 4 cities. Knowledgeable & excellent customer service! The Food - Every morning, breakfast inside the hotel. Not just continental breakfast... it was FULL BRUNCH style (American & Chinese), lots of varieties, 5 STARS. However, the 4 lunches they included.... sorry, very low quality Chinese food & poor service in the restaurants. My suggestion, eat a lot at breakfast! The itinerary - Either you love it or hate it~ If you love shopping for jade, Chinese herbs, peal, teapot, silk & tea then you will definitely love this tour because shopping is in the itinerary. Usually 15 minutes introduction (some quite informative) then shopping time! Even though those places selling majority to tourists, price might be higher than local stores but definitely will be cheaper than buying in USA. If you enjoy shopping, great~ but if you don't, you just have to wait 1-2 hours for other tour members to shop. Sorry, nothing to explore in the neighborhood too. There are 3 free days in the itinerary (Beijing, Xian & Shanghai). They do offer optional tours (with additional charge) or your can choose to explore on your own. The subway system in Beijing & Shanghai are convenient & cheap (less than $1 a ride). Hotel front desk & the tour guides are great source to get sightseeing information. ** On the guided tours they included, there were 3 days which were nightmares..... Visited different city each day, stayed at different hotel each night. Early check-out, few hours bus drive to the next city then spent few hours at the "shopping" places. Didn't have much time to explore the city then next morning leaving to another city. Super exhausted!! I wish they could schedule less cities so spend more time at each city (e.g. Xian & Hunzhou).

It's my first time traveling to China. I was going to apply online myself but I heard from others that it is quite common for online applications to get denied simply because the photo wasn't uploaded correctly. They don't explain this stuff on the Consulate website. Instead, I called the Huatian Service Center. I went there on a Saturday afternoon and it took only 15 minutes! Peter took care of everything, saved me a trip to downtown, and addressed all of my concerns, including cashless payments in China and how to access internet while abroad.

Worst of all, if all goes well, you would need to drive up to LA in person TWICE. And who knows what the wait time is. Who has time for that??? I found this visa service center on Yelp. For $300, this includes everything (the visa fee $140, photo, help with filling out the form, etc). I chose to go to the office in San Gabriel to drop off my passport, take a quick photo, and fill out this office's paper form. Then about a week later, picked up then Visa and passport. My partner and I recently visited China on a China Tour that my travel agent booked for us. We…read morejoined the tour in Beijing and flew from Honolulu to meet the group. We were fortunate to have just a group of 5 people, which made it very nice. We visited Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, then a 3 day Yangtze River Cruise and ending in Shanghai. This was my first experience on a guided tour. My partner and I decided that if we were going to China, a tour would be the way to do it, vs. trying to do it on our own. China Tours does an excellent job of coordinating everything. In every city, your English speaking guide meets you and they were all knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel in every city is 4-5 star and excellent. Each one had a fabulous breakfast buffet that was a perfect start to your day of touring. Cons- it's a tour group so everyone has to stay together. There is a lot of walking, so be prepared. The guides tend to downplay how much walking is required. They say 30 minutes, not too many steps. An hour later, they say, only 30 minutes more. To meet the boat for the Yangtze River Cruise, you walk over an hour an a half down hill and then down steep steps with your carryon luggage. If you're not in shape or a senior, like I am, you will be hurting. After the cruise, we took an almost 8 hour train ride to Shanghai. I was shocked, when our train tickets were for second class in the last train car. My partner and I were sandwiched in the last row with non English speaking passengers. Why wasn't I asked if I wanted to be in first class when we booked the tour? The other three people in our group were in first class. I'd have to say that was one of the worst experience of my life. They other confusing thing is tipping. The other 3 members of our group prepaid their tips. We did not, being told to pay the last guide in Shanghai and all the guides in the other cities would get their share. Almost every guide asked for their tip and said the travel company does not pass the tip onto them. We were all obligated to tip them. China is a fascinating country and I'm glad I finally visited it. Having a guide is absolutely necessary. In retrospect, it would have been well worth it to hire a private guide. I would have loved to have been able to say, tired now, go back to the hotel, see you tomorrow. Guided tours keep you on a tight schedule and the group needs to always stay together. Many travelers like taking tours. If you do, you will like China Tours!
