I bought Groupons for an 8 day Japan trip for 4 of us for March 2020. The trip got cancelled and I was told I have credit to use. Now when I go to use my credit I am told they have to deduct an additional $255 per person which they claim they had to pay Groupon. I don't truly understand this charge but once Intertrips has your money you are obliged to what they tell you. I had to work with 3 different agents and they were not helpful at all. They keep passing the baton to the other when they don't want to work with me. Buyer beware: do not purchase any trips thru Groupon for this agency. We dickered around for weeks about the fees and how much they want to charge me which is more than what they charge on their website using their drop down menu. Then they wanted to charge extra for the airlines to depart 3 days later. They want to charge me extra for nonstop flights. Everything kept adding up. Now I still have a bit of credit with Intertrips and I'm afraid they will find more fees to deduct from this credit when I redeem it. I am very tired of Intertrips nickel and diming me for any fee. read more

I had the most amazing experience in Europe. My trip was the 7 day Italy, Austria, and Switzerland experience. Hands down one of the best ways to travel. You get placed with like minded people who are open to new experiences. I'm really grateful for Issac as he was the one who recommended this trip. We booked a 11 day highlights of Japan and China Trip and it was a very good way to learn and visit fantastic and historic places of Japan , like the Asakusa Neighborhood and Temple, the Mount Fuiji from lake Ashi, Kyoto and the Osaka Castle, as well as the Great Wall and the Tienammen Square and the Forbidden City in Beijing. The Guides May and Ayako in Japan and Yan in China were all the time with us responding our questions and even teaching us a little bit of Language. My return flight, they scheduled me to return at 9pm at night. Checkout for the hotel was 11am. I called to complain and he said it was too late I should've noticed it on my itinerary when I first got it. I informed him that was why I paid them to set up my trip or I could have set it up myself. Unfortunately it was too late to cancel my trip. I was in a different country by myelf and had to spend 8 hours at the airport alone. So be mindful and check your itinerary the day you get it. The customer service guy and the supervisor were extremely rude and could've cared less. They really were rude for no reason, I still don't understand why they talked to me the way they did. And when I told them I was writing a review and not using them again, the manager said, good. Scheduled a discounted trip to China for October 2020 for four adults. For obvious reasons, that trip was canceled. We've re-booked twice with those trips also being canceled. China is open, but they no longer offer any trips that even remotely resemble the itinerary and extensions that we were initially available at similar prices. I just completed China Confucius Hometown with Bullet Train Experiences - 11 Days. Nov 1-Nov 11, 2017 Intertrips AKA ChinaTour.com Travel consultant Angelo Nicdao Supervisor Alex Don't do it! No service after the sale! Poor quality! I booked the trip in June 2017. I received an itinerary with a 12 hour layover in Tokyo for return home. I got it changed with threats of disputes and cancellation. (Some in our group had not even noticed, but the complaining began about half way through the trip as the realization hit.) Oct 3, I called for the final itinerary with phone numbers of each location's hotel and contact numbers. "Beijing Office has not finalized it at the moment. Once it is ready, they will send it to us. Thank you for your patience." Oct 12, I called again and I got an itinerary that varied significantly from the one on the web site. Nov 2, Arrival in Beijing and I was taken to a completely different hotel. Not listed anywhere. I called Angelo directly from Beijing requesting a correct itinerary by email. No response, ever. Optional activities are compulsory. If you don't want to do the activity, you may wait on the bus, entertain yourself for and hour or two, or get a taxi to the hotel at your expense. Lunches provided on the tour were at industrial kitchens servicing many busses from many tours in group tables and some did not even have a lazy susan on the table. Drinks were provided in a 6oz glass with extra at your own expense. Tea pots had hot water but no tea. No forks. Well sometimes. We used the soup spoons as serving spoons. Just hideous. Food quality varied from OK to inedible on a downward trajectory. I had to complain to get a decent room at one hotel that I couldn't put up with even for one night. Some hotel breakfasts were Chinese take out fare. Dimsum surprise buns. Oh, that's bean mash inside, yum. Shaved spam called bacon. Cold white links called pork sausage. I asked for a receipt for the required $100 cash service charge collected by the Beijing guide. She said, "Are you kidding?" Subsequent guide had no knowledge of the already collected tip. He said that only went to the company. Adding 12/27/2017: The president of the company contacted me and expressed regret that my experience was bad. He told me that staffing changes were made as mine was not the only complaint. I was given a cute panda teddy bear, a voucher to use for future travel and a refund for a poor quality video package I'd purchased. read more

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful Vietnam AND Bali trip that we booked after seeing the trip advertised on Travelzoo. The trip was booked through INTERTRIPS, and we found out that INTERTRIPS also goes by the name of ChinaTours. We are guessing the name changed because they expanded from just doing tours in China and didn't want to confuse people going to other countries. You can see from our reviews that we are international travelers, in our early 60's, having visited over 50 countries. Some trips we have taken on basic group tours like this one, others on very posh group tours, and still others on do-it-yourself (such as once back-packing for 5 weeks in Europe). Before booking this trip, we did our due-diligence on Intertrips, something we do for all trips before we book. Here is one thing that we have found out about ALL group trips. It is necessary to check out all the minor details in the final travel itinerary when you receive your documents. Each tour company tells you you do this, INTERTRIPS included. Even on our latest trip to Ireland (not on INTERTRIPS) about 2 months ago through another travel company, we discovered that they inadvertently left out a day-trip voucher. And, this was on a very expensive trip (more than double the cost of a INTERTRIPS one, with No included airfare). In every case that has occurred, and we catch the omission and advise the tour company, the tour company sends out the missing docs. This can occur we think because of the many-many tours these companies book. Of course, if you don't do this research, and find out something is missing on the day of departure, or at your destination, you will be likely be on a time-crunch to get it resolved. So, be patient and carefully examine ALL facets of your trip as early as possible. We found a possible error with this INTERTRIPS tour, but it was resolved since we discovered it in advance. Here was our issue: This INTERTRIPS tour to Vietnam and Bali was for 10 nights, and included airfare. It was not a customized tour, but part of a very large tour INTERTRIPS arranged. One of the people on our four-person group of ours had a leg issue and needed airplane bulkhead seats, not available on the airline INTERTRIPS was using. We sent emails to INTERTRIPS (always confirm EVERYTHING with email, not just verbally) and requested bulkhead seating. To our surprise, they were able to find bulkhead for $100. more, and on Singapore Airlines - we learned...a great airline. They communicated this well to us in advance, But, to do this our trip would have to take off A DAY EARLY; thus, a 10-night trip became a 11-night trip. And, we didn't pay the extra $100, just our friends did, because we didn't need the bulkhead seats, just them. I didn't think about it at the time, but that meant an extra hotel night stay. The week before departure, seeing this as an issue, I emailed the INTERTRIPS representative, Jim Li, and asked about the cost for an extra hotel night. He emailed back, saying it was taken care of courtesy of their company, not to have worries, and to enjoy the trip. We were pleased! Excellent communication. In Saigon, Ho Chi Mnh City, Viernam, INTERTRIPS used the HARMONY Hotel. This hotel was 4 1/2 stars, in an excellent central city location, had a huge and delicious included breakfast, and all went very well. One can see the positive review that we posted on the Harmony Hotel for details. In Bali, we were at the Sense Hotel, another hotel centrally located with lots to do around it and we had a great stay. That review is pending. Each hotel included breakfast as advertised by INTERTRIPS, airfare was included from Houston, airfare from Saigon to Bali, and return Bali to Houston. All the hotel pickups for airport travel went as scheduled. The luggage porterage went without a hitch, when arriving in Saigon and Bali, we were met at the airport by a INTERTRIPS rep, holding a sign, etc. It was well-planned and one of our most memorable vacations. The tours that were included came with hotel pickup and drop off. The tour representative was there at all times. We would certainly book again using INTERTRIPS. The price was very affordable and the communication via email was always more than expected. read more

STOLE MY MONEY! I purchased a trip for $1348 and was told they could not accommodate the tour because they could not get our visas back in time. Instead of offering to reschedule or refund my money, they cancelled the trip and stole my money. I called and spoke to the supposed owner, but he yelled at me and hung up on me after saying it was my fault because I didn't purchase travel insurance. Mind you, the reason I didn't get to go on the trip was because they couldn't get the visas in time. So after months of fighting, they offered $150 for a future trip! What a joke. I want my money back or the trip that I paid for. It's sad that companies get away with taking advantage of people like this. I would never recommend this company. read more

My rating is for the generic $599 China Beijing/Shanghai Tour from Groupon: My advise: AVOID! I regret booking this tour for my first time experience in China. You will be better off to buy a plane ticket and book your experiences on your own through TripAdvisor TOUR STOPS: This is a TIME-SHARE type of service, where China government subsidizes the cost to take you to stops such as a Jade "Museum" and Silk "Factory." These ARE NEITHER Museums nor Factories. You will be misled rather and they take you to expensive stores. Before they take you to the sales floor, you will be high pressure sales pitched into the products. Other products that you will be pitched to buy are: Medical herbs, green tea, pearls and a few others. 0 Stars. You will not get to experience traditional Chinese culture with this tour. You will be put up in generic hotels far from any immersive experience I am VERY disappointed in the tour stops as these wasted our precious time spending in China. We RUSH visited smaller markets that sold the same products at a fraction of the cost. DO NOT get pressured to buy from the tour store stops. We were led to believe that the tour guide gets commission in what his group buys. You get very limited and little time to yourself to experience China outside the tour guides dictative narrative Be prepared to lug your own luggage around after each stop each day. I've been on a tour with Gate 1 and they take make sure our baggage meets us in our room! This tour lacks everything FOOD: Prison style mess. Every lunch or dinner that is included is the same style basic lazy Susan dinner slop. I am very disappointed in not being able to experience traditional home style cooked food on this trip. You are VERY limited on what to eat as the stops take you to remote locations such as one hotel is in a school district so nothing close by to explore. 0 Stars. Our tour guide warned us that most of the hotel locations are in a "bad area" to keep us from roaming the city on our own. The last hotel we found out was 5 miles from disneyland. Wtf kinda of lie is "bad location" when such close proximity to disneyland?? TOUR GUIDE: negative 5 stars. Our tour guide acted like a dictator soldier, threatening and lecturing the group. The very first introduction he gave a very bad taste in our mouth for the trip. He would get upset and yell at us if we spoke to each other while he spoke. He would tell us to be quiet or he would just sit down and not give any more introduction, which he did. Awful awful experience with our tour guide. I later found out that he would say awful things about us to other tour groups. Our tour guide would speak bad about America. We would ask questions and he would point to the camera on the bus saying he cant speak about certain things. Be warned, you are being watched EVERY WHERE. Our tour guide gave so many rude warnings, such as not to get a head ache, not to roam off from the group, not to be a minute late to the bus or he would take off without.. Our tour guide Anthony was terrible. -5 Stars. This tour was not fun. Our tour guide gave us a horrible view of china. I have so much more appreciation for my freedom in America Bring a mask for Shanghai!! I got sick and would choke on the terrible air quality and pollution. It is very bad to deal with, without a mask. We saw many tour buses going to the exact same spots as us and meeting many other tour groups at the hotels and sales floors. No matter what 'affordable' agency you book through, we all went through THE EXACT SAME route, going to the same sales pitches stores. This is a generic tour to profit the chinese government. My husband and I just returned from the New Visions Thailand which was Bangkok and Thailand. I am giving the company 5 stars for numerous reasons, 1. Price was unbelievably cheap 2. The China East airline was on time for both coming and going.. Was the flight great? That is relative, For what we paid out of Chicago it was fine 3. The Mandarin Hotel in Bangkok and The Nature in Phuket were beautiful and clean. The locations were good and we fwlt safe at all times walking the streets. 4, The included breakfasts were spectacular. Eggs made to order, fruits, salad bar, soups,thai entrees, desserts etc. They were the same at both hotels. 5. Tour guide was great. My husband fell his first day and cut his eyelid open. Kat wanted us to go to the hospital but I said no way, I will butterfly it on my own and have plastic surgeon look at it when we get home. Well, every day, Kat was checking his eye and bandage, bringing some ointment or herbal stuff for eye and for pain in his ribs.. Very concerned. 6. Kat was well informed and helpful with bartering in the markets or suggesting restaurant choices. I could go on and on..I will definitely use Intertrips again I am looking at Vietnam /Cambodia as well as trying to find a trip to Egypt.. Highly recommend the tour. The cost through Groupon makes it affordable. I spent $1600 in total - including the rediculous shopping I did! The hotels are 5 star, the breakfast is buffet - for both Chinese and European customers. The lunches and dinners that are included are a hit or miss. Some were not great, some were okay. The tours are well organized, the tour guides speak English, and can answer questions. Some infomercial locations included - such as a medicine center (prescription given for herbal remedies) - the Jade and pearl factories don't give much details on the process, but you can certainly bargain for items. And I mean bargain! They will say the Jade bracelet is 1600USD, but someone in my group got it for 900USD!!!! Same for the pearls. First time, and last time I ever use intertrips. Worst all inclusive trip I've been on. I've been to Thailand twice, and intertrips had great price. I looked up the reviews and talk to the person who runs it, and it seemed legit. First they cancel the trip for lack of interest, and then they send me an email that they switched the dates. So now I have to rearrange my work schedule. We get there, and tours we signed up for had been canceled. I extended my trip and had a great nine hour layover at the Hong Kong airport. My wife & I recently returned from a tour to China with InterTrips. 11 days starting in Beijing. We saw the Imperial Garden, Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City, and we walked along the Great Wall. We flew to Shanghai and started by walking along the Bond water front seeing the numerous newlyweds getting their photos taken against the magnificent city skyline. We went to Yellow Mountain where the movie Avatar was inspired. This drive took us to Green Tea farms, Bamboo forests, and numerous small farming towns with picturesque backdrop. We flew on to Xi'an where we experienced another high light visiting the Terra Cotta Warriors. The workmanship and grand scale is truly impressive. Our guides were all very knowledgeable on the geography, history, economy and local folklore. The hotels we stayed in were all extremely grand; if not 5 star, then they were close. All breakfasts were these grand buffets. All other meals were great as well although we did not get a chance to venture out for some of the famed street food. The tour routed us to shops specializing in pearls, jade, silk, Tea, Bamboo, and a natural medicine pharmacy. Although they were all obviously targeted to us tourists, they were interesting and educational. This was a great introductory tour as our first visit to China and we have a better idea what to see and where to go for a subsequent visit. The price was fantastic! read more

Mar 13, 2018, 1:34 PM We have just returned from our Intertrips Thailand trip with the optional 4 day Cambodia package. We (27 of us) missed our connecting flight to Bangkok from Beijing in large part due to an insufficient layover time of 45 minutes. We tried the emergency contact for Bangkok to alert them of our flight change, but were unsuccessful. We arrived Bangkok, but were not met at the airport by an Intertrips rep. When we called the Bangkok emergency contact, we were told to take a cab. When we called Intertrips, we were told we would not be reimbursed for the cab as we had not notified them of our flight change. Upon arrival at the hotel at 6am, we quickly readied for our scheduled 9am full day tour. At 10am, we were finally informed by Intertrips that the full day tour was scheduled for the next day. The six adults compared itinerary printouts- all listed the full day tour as scheduled on day one, not day two. Instead of having a full day tour on day one, we were left on our own. When we contacted Intertrips to clarify our itinerary, I was told to 'have a massage and a papaya salad'. Our flight to/from Cambodia was from a different airport than the one we arrived to. This necessitated a one hour shuttle to continue our journey home. This was not addressed in any of the documentation provided by Intertrips. In fact a statement on our Cambodia flight info page stated ' Kindly note that all international flights arriving and departing Bangkok will operate from Terminal 1 Don Mueang International Airport.' Our experience changed once we arrived in Cambodia, exclusively due to our guide Mom Vannak. He was the one bright star to an otherwise bleak vacation. We booked with Intertrip and visited Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai for 9 days in April 2017. Overall, I would rate the trip a 3 out of 5. USA side of the trip planning was a bad experience. China side of the trip experience was overall good. Here are the details. We paid $999, starting at San Francisco. But by the time we finish the tour, we have spent at least another $500 per person for the tours and mandatory tips to Intertrip. Pre-trip planning in the USA (Rating 1 out of 5): This is the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a travel agency. They accepted my payment of $999 per person in Dec 2016, they sent an email acknowledging payment but no details about flights and hotels. After 3 months of waiting, I called them to follow-up and urged them to book flights before good flights are booked. They finally gave me the flights but they had long layovers. I did my research using the airline they gave. Found direct flights with the same airline and the cost is the same as the ones with layover. I requested the flights I found but they asked for additional $450 ($150 per person times 3 people). They won't budge so we just went along with the longer flights. When the travel agent finalized our flight booking, they forgot to include one person in our group. They accepted payment for 3 people but booked flights for only 2 people! What the heck? I contacted them and notified them of their error. Instead of rebooking all 3, the 3rd person was booked on a separate itinerary. Since Intertrips does not take care of the seat assignments (they make the customer do that), I had a more difficult time trying to get 3 seats together since the itineraries are separate. I had to do this for the four legs of the roundtrip flights.. I asked for a list of the hotels that we will stay at. They were 5 star hotels with excellent buffets but located far from the city center and public transportation. Closer to the date, they changed our hotels. Still 5 star hotels but these replacement hotels were rated lower in the reviews in TripAdvisor. Rating: 5 for quality and 2 for location so I'll give it a 3.5 rating. I asked some basic questions from the US Intertrip agents. They do not know much. They didn't know how far these hotels are from public transportations, didn't know if the China hotels which are 4 stars and cater to a lot of US tourist have electrical outlets that accept both 220 and 110 plugs, didn't know if their tour guides can accept US dollars for the optional tours or if we have to bring Chinese currency. Flights: Via Air China. (Rating: 4 out of 5). Flight was not full. Courteous flight attendants. Good food. Arrival at China: Intertrip representatives were about 10 minutes late so the group didn't know what to do. But they eventually showed up. Intertrip Tour Guides: They were nice and helpful. Their English is okay. I understood 90% of what they said. Great Wall visit: Intertrips takes you to the part of the Great Wall that is rated #12 in Trip Advisor (JuyongguanPass). Not good if you have mobility problems. Trip Advisor recommends the Mutianyu or Badaling parts of the Great Wall. These are the parts that US presidents and other foreign dignitaries have visited because they have better views, accessability, etc. With regards to these two, for Mutianyu (less crowded but farther) and Badaling (more crowded but closer), you can go up and down by foot or by using the air tram/gondola, chair lift, and toboggan. For Juyongguan Pass, your only option is going up and down by foot which is difficult for people who have mobility difficulties or are simply not fit. We decided to book our own day guide and went to Mutianyu and we are glad we did. Shopping trips - I did not like that they take away time from the other sites but they did keep the cost down. I like shopping so didn't mind them too much. We enjoyed the terracotta factory demo of how they make the warriors and the free calligraphy class parts of the shopping trips. I did not like the Chinese medicine stop. Before we entered, I told my husband that he will be told he has "fat liver" as many TripAdvisor reviewers have said. That prediction was accurate. He was told he has fat liver (even though he doesn't). Then they prescribe Chinese medicine in the hundreds of dollars. No thanks. We just gave a tip for the foot wash/massage. In summary, would I use Intertrip again? It depends. If we are first timers and plan to do all the optional tours, I would go with another company since the price will end up almost the same ($1500) and their travel agents appear more competent, communicative, and transparent. If I am going back to China and don't plan to do the optional tours again, then I might do Intertip again since the basic price which contains the intercontinental flights, hotels, and intercity flights are a good deal. read more

We visited Japan in Oct. 2017. We were very happy with this trip, everything was above our expectations. If you're not to picky and like to travel on a budget, this company is perfect. They are helpful and friendly. We are going to visit China at the end of May 2018 and we really hope that this trip will be great too. China 11-Day Confucius Tour: November 4th-14th, 2017. In sum, Intertrips offers low-price China tours in hopes of profiting off tourists purchases at government-owned establishments, events, and services (i.e. pearl factory, silk factory, jade museum, tea village, traditional Chinese medicine center, evening shows, massages). Flying into Beijing, and out of Shanghai, you are shuffled through the country on bullet trains and buses, and given a total of three tour guides, one in each province. This trip might be difficult if you are less agile, as you need to load and unload your own luggage from buses, take early (4:30am) bus rides to train stations, and move all of your luggage with you on the train. Pack light! Food: The food that Intertrips provides (one to two meals a day) is sub par, but food sought independent from the tour (i.e. restaurants, hotels, street vendors), is great! Many of the restaurants that Intertrips patronized were tired, lacked flavor, and in the case of the Silk Factory in Sozhou, was dirty. Now for the details of my trip: Arriving in China, our tour guide Leon, who spoke poor english and whom I'd give zero stars to, failed to command the group effectively. Leaving the airport terminal, he walked our 36-member group to a row of buses, none of which said Intertrips on them, confusing some of the group members, causing their luggage to be loaded on the wrong bus. Once on the bus, we were given the sad news that we were downgraded from the elegant Four Points Sheraton in Beijing, to the Ramada, a glorified brothel. Now let me paint an accurate picture here, this is a hotel that is attached to a night club, and to accommodate the clientele have contraceptives for sale in each hotel bathroom...I'd prefer a pillow mint, thank you very much! Every night at midnight the hotel walls would vibrate from the club's music. When I went to complain at the hotel desk, I was given earplugs. I proceeded to call Intertrips directly from China, but they did not pick up their Diamond Bar, CA office line even though it was during regular business hours. I left a number of messages and asked to be contacted, but never was. Leon, the tour guide (as mentioned, zero stars): Failed to clearly communicate the itinerary to us, and changed many of the activities, couldn't read proper english (which made the return of passports a long ordeal), and was so terribly rude, that I had to remind him that we were on vacation but that he made the trip stressful. Leon was preoccupied selling trinkets and massages on the bus, and gave little useful information regarding China. He didn't have the bus ready for us when we left the Chinese Medicine Center, so we stood in the cold night air for 30 minutes until I went after the bus. Our tour guides Amy and Henry (Chai), on the other hand were lovely, gave fascinating information about China's history and modern-day economics, social structure, and politics. I would give both of these tour guides 5 stars. read more

I want to thank intertrips for a wonderful family vacation to china. Alex helped us book a 9 day splendid china tour. Our immediate family was traveling from SF but my in-laws were going to join us from India. I was ready to pay for their flights when Alex suggested another website where I would get better rates for their flights. He spoke to me on the phone and co-ordinated our same arrival and departure times for 45 minutes. The hotels and the tour were great. Yes - there were some hiccups but that comes along with traveling in a group of 30+ people. What matters most is there were accommodating and trying their best to ensure that everyone was satisfied. When I contact their customer service, they first give me the run around and finally admit that they have cancelled the trip and I would have to reschedule or get a refund through groupon. I can't say enough about Intertrips. I loved this company and their tours so much that I took this trip twice in the last 14 months. The first trip was during Chinese New Year, just a great time with my niece and the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace covered in snow. All just beautiful. The hotels were stunning and the tour guides were fabulous. I had the opportunity to take the same trip the following spring with my boyfriend. The weather was a bit warmer and we just loved it.Both times on this tour we added on all the additional excursions, they are all fabulous. Everything from the rickshaw ride and lunch with a family in their Huton to the evening shows with the acrobats. The hotels are 4-5*** and everything is just great. There is so much to see in China and we extended our stay in Shanghai for 5 extra days. Intertrips helped us with our changes and flights. I highly recommend this company. If money is tight, maybe consider them, but you get what you pay for. And you must make sure to advocate strongly for yourself. We had great experiences, but they came with many issues. If we had spent a bit more with another company, things might have gone more smoothly. A summary: 1. Our travel coordinator changed 3 times. The last one was horrible and put a bad taste in my mouth before the trip even started. He was extremely rude, sighed constantly as if I was wasting his time when I questioned why he booked us to leave a day early. He then lied about not having any flight availability the next day and said the best he could do was a $50 refund on the tour we were booked to be on. As if we would fly around the world to leave a day early on a 9 day trip that already included 2 days of travel. He lied and said he was a manager when I tried to escalate (which I was eventually able to do). Finally he told us they had an exclusive deal with Eastern China Airlines, which we found out on the tour is the Spirit Airlines of Asia and that many of the other tour members were booked on Air China. I became very angry with the coordinator and asked for someone new, but they never removed him from our account and he became even less responsive. 2. They did a bait and switch on all of our hotels. The bathrooms were gross on 2 of the 4. Two groups on the tours had their luggage sent to the first original hotel and did not get the luggage for 2 days. Intertrips did not help and the hotel we stayed in dragged their feet on it. 3. Everything was very unorganized. You can book an optional outing in advance or during the trip. We booked one during the trip and the tour guide never had change and was writing IOUs. I just remembered that he never gave me back my change from the last outing we booked on-site! 4. We were told we would go to Chinatown and the flower markets. We drove through Chinatown and walked very, very quickly through the flower markets to get to Wat Pho. We saw them, but we didn't really go to them. 5. The first night outing, we didn't have enough transportation for the full group. We waited 45 minutes for a van and missed most of dinner. 6. We took a train from the market that sits on the train tracks. That day we had 2 tour guides and 2 members of the group were still left behind. 7. There was one outing that really required us to wear flip-flops and/or wear clothes that we did not care about. We were not warned about that. One member of the group was wearing a long maxi-dress, so was not able to participate in most things. 8. During that same outing, it had rained earlier in the day. The tour bus went through deep mud, got stuck and almost tipped. We evacuated the bus and they called a tractor to pull it back. We had to walk through thick mud to get to the location. Our shoes were completely caked. 9. At the last outing, the tour guide told us he would be back by 9:30 pm to take us to the airport. This was crucial because we were told to be at the airport 3-4 hours before a flight and it was 45 minutes to the airport. He did not get back until 10 pm, which put some group members in jeopardy of missing their flight. 10. I didn't have a problem with it, but several tour members felt the tour guide's accent was too strong / English was too broken to be effective. Finally, we booked in February, but did not receive trip details for our early November trip until late August. This made me very nervous after all of the issues with the horrible travel coordinator. Take what you want from this, but there were about 40 people in the full group and I only spoke to one couple who said they would use Intertrips again. read more

We took Intertrips 9-days Golden Triangle (Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai) tour in November 2017. Katherine Rodriguez was our local Intertrips tour agent and she was very helpful and prompt in helping us navigate making advance seat assignments and providing information on our itinerary. For the price, this trip was a really good deal. Tour guides met us at every airport, transferred our luggage, and helped us get boarding passes along with providing us with interesting information on the sights and history of each city. The hotels were really (surprisingly!) nice and conveniently located to explore local sights on our own. We had free breakfast at the hotel buffets with plenty of hot food to choose from and every hotel room had coffee and tea so no complaints there. We did have to get up really early to get to the airport for our flights but it was worth it to arrive at the next city and have time to see more sights. Our tour group was a mix of young couples, families, and retired folks which made it fun. The highlights of the trip were seeing the terra cotta warriors in Xi'an along with the Great Wall and because it was November it was not jam packed with tourists. It was our experience that this tour was well worth it and we got to cross Xi'an off our bucket list! read more
