It's convenient for many hotels in the area to help you get to the wharf, cannery, and the aquarium. It does only go in one direction. So you will have to take it all the way around, you can't back track and go in the other direction. The drivers were nice, even though some do drive a little fast. If you have small kids or an adult with limited mobility, I'd sit on the seats that face forward not sideways. On the sideways seats my kids (and I!) were sliding back and forth.

She is wheelchair bound and not able to assist with getting in/out of vehicles. Therefore, we rely on MST rides to take her to personal visits such as hair salons and so forth. We have had more negative encounters on MST rides than positive ones. The worst incident occurred during Easter weekend. Our plans were to attend a church service and then lunch at a local restaurant. While securing the bookings, we advised the scheduler of the times we needed to be at each place because we had a reservation at the restaurant and church starts at a set time. We were at the designated places over the recommended 15 minutes pickup time. On Easter Sunday the bus was close to two hours late which caused us to be over an hour late for church. We had to keep calling the dispatcher Chris repeatedly to find out when we would be picked up. He was downright rude and hung up on the receptionist at Carmel Hills Care Center. We were over thirty minutes late for our lunch reservation which shortened the time we could spend at the restaurant. Fortunately, the weather was warm because the bus was late picking us up from the restaurant. Overall, it was an incredibly stressful day which should have been a relaxing, pleasant day. I find the practices at MST rides unprofessional, inconsiderate, and disrespectful to the disability community. Since the peninsula is a major tourist area, you would think they would schedule additional drivers during peak times.

I'm pretty annoyed with the On-Call service right now. Let…read moreme start off by saying, I'm an avid bus rider, and the On-Call service is a fantastic service if you are in Marina and only need to go somewhere in Marina. It's $1.50 (WOW!) and you call up or use the app to set up a pick-up and drop-off time. It's like a really cheap taxi, except it only goes places in Marina. It's perfect for me because I live and work in Marina. I've only used this service a hand full of times now because I don't always know exactly when my work for the day will be done, and therefore don't know when to schedule. But I have used it a few times. My problem with it is this: it's not reliable (in my opinion, from the few times I've used it.) The drivers are so friendly, and when it works, it works. And did I mention it's only $1.50? It's that cheap for ANYONE! As for the unreliability thing: one of the times I had a pick-up scheduled, when the driver was outside he called me to let me know and I went right out. Another time, I got a text from the service letting me know that the bus was a minute or so away. All great right? Well... another time I waited outside for over 30 minutes and by that time my boyfriend was off work and just came to pick me up. I called them to cancel and they had no idea why the driver wasn't there by that point. Why didn't I call sooner, you ask? Because I know how buses are, I know they can be late or delayed, and I didn't have another option so I just waited patiently. That leads to today. I had scheduled a 3:15 ride. I realized I would probably be off sooner than that, so I called, cancelled that ride, and scheduled one for 2:30. Around 2:30, I peeked out of my work to see if they were there, they weren't, so I grabbed my stuff, clocked out and went out to wait. I waited until 3 o'clock, (again, waiting patiently) and finally called to see if they were coming and what the ETA was. The man on the phone said that it was cancelled because the driver was there and didn't see me so he had called them and left. I may not have been outside at 2:30 on the DOT but I was not out there past 2:32. The guy said that there's a five minute window. Then why did he leave so early? He said they only wait 2 minutes. Okay, but you can't count those two minutes BEFORE 2:30! "Fivee minute window" my tush! My question is this: why would I get a call one time, a text another, and another time no notice at all? AND he left before I could even walk outside. If you're going to call people for their ride, do it every time. If you're going to send automated texts, do it every time. If you're not going to do either, then don't do them ever! Luckily, I managed a ride, otherwise I would've been stuck there. Oh, and when I arrived home, the bus was right on my street... How annoying is that? Like I said, this is a great service. I just wish it were more consistent. If you live in Marina and travel in Marina, you should definitely try this service. Just make sure to be clear, ask questions, and apparently be outside super early.
