My uncle had issue with the rear end they rebuilt in his dodge ram. My other buddy will they had to take the trans in and out 2-3 times before they could fix it right. My one buddy had his trans rebuilt there and it puked all the trans fluid out two weeks later. I know there a bunch of good reviews, but I'm telling you it's not the place it used to be. Many years ago it was a great place, the quality of work and the customer service has gone down hill. They charged my buddy $4000 for a trans that didn't even last a year and a half. That's garbage.

CAround late November of 2021 my car broke down. I was driving in a subdivision and ,upon taking a…read moreturn, I heard a (clunk-like) breaking sound, and my car stopped moving forward. It only moved in neutral, reverse, and the lowest gear after that. (This happened while I was working, so you can imagine the disbelief and stress I felt). I got it towed the following day. With the description of the problem, the tow-man said it sounded like the transmission gave out. I did research on transmissions for my car (2009 Chevy Impala). I discovered that people with the same car had experienced similar problems with their transmission. Mind you, I'm 19 years old, and I had absolutely no idea how to find a solution. I spent some time looking online for transmission repair shops in my area. For a few days, I called MULTIPLE shops asking them about what might be wrong and the costs to fix it. I got quotes all the way up to $6000.00, until I found Cuddy Brothers Transmission..... Mind you, my car did not drive; however, they were able to tow my car to their shop for "free."(I believe the towing is free with a related purchase, so ask Todd for details). As I called and explained the situation, he said it needed to be rebuilt. When he brought it in to diagnose, he confirmed everything he said over the phone. What caused my car to stop driving so suddenly, was that one of the three bands had snapped while driving. There were other corroded and worn pieces as well. They replaced all the broken pieces in the transmission. They also cleaned all the parts. Todd is very honest and knowledgeable about what he does. His entire team reflects that. I was astounded and impressed by how well they were able to simplify and explain to be the different parts of the transmission and how/why behind each part. Before I got any work done, I was given an estimate for the final price. It came out to be just under $2800($2747.68) to be exact. That included parts, labor, and sales tax. The interior of the lobby is old-fashioned, but their Bay Area looked well equipped with tools and everything. If you have any questions about warranty, your transmission, or general inquiry, don't hesitate to give them a call to speak to Todd. Todd was kind enough to bring me into the bay and give me a break down of everything in the transmission. He did an excellent job of educating me about it. The only concern I had , at first, was the duration of the rebuild. He said it was a 4-5 day job. However, they started on Tuesday, and they finished around 4:00pm on Friday. The mechanics were very friendly and open to questions. I knew nothing about transmissions before this. Now, I can have actually have a discussion about the parts and how it works. I'm giving five stars because my experience was INCREDIBLE. For all the research I did beforehand, I wish I had found this place first. But, as the saying goes "diamond in the rough", I had to dig through some roughness to find this diamond of Transmission Repair Shop. If you're unknowledgeable about what to do, don't worry. GO HERE and you'll be taken care of. I'm very fortunate to have found this place, and I happily share this information with you.

Our first experience was coming to him after being quoted $6500 for a transmission replacement to a 2002 Lexus RX300 190,000 miles. It was clear the "other' shop did not try to review other causes to a drag in first gear. When we brought it to Dave, he let us know that not all engine lights on and 1st gear hesitance were signs of a new transmission. I felt confident and agreed when he said that it was clear our car was no hooptie, that we weren't trying to take care of. He reviewed the concern, found the problem after 2 hours... cost was $402. I sent an email to John's Auto Center over the weekend and was not expecting a response until the…read morefollowing Monday. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a response within an hour. They were able to get my car looked at right away. Simon was so helpful and looked at my car the second I pulled in. He said that the condition of my car was great and that it seemed to be running smoothly. However, he agreed to put it up on the lift to do a general wellness check of the undercarriage of my car. After inspecting it (again, right away) he took me under the car to show me- he said that everything looked to be in great condition. The only thing he did point out was that my tires were needing to be replaced in the near future- and took the time to show me how to check the tire tread. He offered to give me a quote, although I felt no pressure from him to purchase the tires through him/at their shop. I really appreciated that Simon did not try to sell me some part that I didn't need, or to tell me that something should be fixed on my vehicle when everything looked great. Simon had such a genuine way about him, and I could tell that he was very honest and that I could trust him- which is huge! After asking him to look at the cabin filter, it DID need to be replaced- they didn't have one in stock- so Simon ran to the store and was back to replace it within 5 minutes! I was so pleasantly surprised. I was shocked when the general wellness check on my vehicle only cost $50! and he didn't even charge me for the cabin filter... If I had taken my vehicle to GMC, I for sure would have had to wait a week or two for an appointment, then they would certainly keep my vehicle for several days- and a wellness check would definitely cost upwards to $200. Needless to say- I will be doing ALL of my future motor / car needs to John's Auto Center!
