The Intersection is a multi-stage venue that gets some decent acts. I've seen at least 15 shows there since 2011. The main venue is large and cavernous with hard concrete floors and limited reserved seating. The "stache" is the front room with a small stage, which makes for an intimate show and we've seen some favorite bands there. Elevation is downstairs and I've only been in there once but is also pretty nice for a smaller show. The bar lines tend to move quickly, and I like that there's a bar in the lobby that's usually less busy. They don't serve any food, which is a bit of a bummer but there are a few places around where you can get dinner before a show. No designated parking lot for the Intersection but there's plenty of street parking nearby. Overall I prefer 20 Monroe to the Intersection these days mostly for their snacks :) But if a band I like comes to the Intersection, it's an easy yes for me since it's close to home and a decent spot for a concert. read more

My first experience going to the Intersection was fun and an enjoyable night out. There is parking everywhere around the venue. We paid $20 cash or card and walked just a block to the front door. We were greeted and asked for our ID. We were directed to another counter after we go in the door to show our tickets for the show. All the staff were polite, professional and welcomed us to the venue. There were ample amount of wait staff and people at the bar to get drinks fast. I was drinking ling islands and they cost $10.75 without tip. We were notified due to the venue not selling out the VIP section was open and first come first serve so we found the most perfect spot to enjoy the band, people watch and have a place to put our drinks. The sound system was incredible and the auto very clear. The bathroom were clearly marked and there were plenty of stalls. Overall good night out. read more

Pretty impressive little venue for a summertime outdoor concert! I really liked the fact that there were both indoor and outdoor bars here, the lines were not bad at all for a quick cocktail. Nice space. No seating u less you reserve in advance, but all in all a good place to go. read more

Definitely one of my favorite places to catch a show! The intersection has 3 "venues" technically: Elevation, The Stache, and The Intersection. Elevation is located on the side of the building and is basically the basement of the building. Interesting layout and can get a little crammed for popular shows but it's a fun place to see a band play. They have a coat check usually right when you enter. The intersection and the Stache, you enter through the front of the building. The Stache is the front part of the room where the bar is and the intersection is the big room in the back. Have really enjoyed most shows I've seen here! It gets SUPER hot in these places so even in the winter months I find myself wearing a short sleeve tshirt because I know it will be toasty. read more

Security extremely rude. On top of that, the production feels extremely short changed on a lot of things. Still using the cheapest speakers around without even using it to its full potential. Seems their mentality has changed from being show goer forward to "what's the bare minimum people will still pay for?" Seems to be livenation buy out made the place way worse. Not to mention employees are constantly talking how much it sucks to work there. Do better please. read more

I would have given the lounge five stars but our party purchased 2 tables because we didn't want to stand the whole time. We had 4 in our party but the tables came with 3 seats why? We were constantly bugged by concert attendees to use our seats which took away from our experience! read more

I really enjoyed the Rock the Lot show feat. Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys, and Rodney Atkins. Watching security toss out the drama/drunks, was a sadistic pleasure as well. Table for 100$, yeah no, I got legs and they still work. Drinks, plentiful. Food, there was a truck. read more

This is a great local venue. I'm impressed with the artists that tend to book shows here. I have been here before and it has been very hot inside. I typically try to dress accordingly. Knowing there could be several guests drinking and dancing you should probably know to not dress to warm and either leave your coat in the car or with the coat check. I've always felt like the staff is happy to be there and treat the guests right. The drink selection is just average. They have bourbon, whiskey or rum if you're looking for having a mixed drink. They also serve cans and draft beers such as Coors Light, Bud Light, Pabst and Miller Lite to name a few. They also have a few different options of Hard Seltzer in a can as well. One bonus is that the drinks don't seem to be over priced. The bathrooms have always been clean when I've been there as well. read more

We went to a show here for the first time in years this past week and it was hot. Like, insanely hot. Without exaggeration, it was probably pushing 95-100 in there and it was 40 degrees outside. No ventilation or ceiling fans whatsoever like other venues. The artist performing even commented several times on the temperature and asked if everyone in the crowd was ok. When it came time to leave, it was so bottlenecked at the (one) exit that it took almost 20 minutes just to get to the front of the venue. This is really dangerous. Not impressed... 20 Monroe and other local venues have them beat by a long shot. read more

Yikes dude this place is a shithole. Really I sort of like the cavernous warehouse aesthetic to a point, but I'm mostly shitting on this place for its *brutal* alcohol prices and quality. They're the highest of any venue I've been to in quite awhile. A single "vodka" Red Bull (I put that in quotes because.. well, there was no vodka in it) was $8. For anyone wondering, they poor your drinks behind a wall so you can't see how much they're actually adding. As others have said, beers are served in small plastic cups that may be 12oz. But, you factor in that foamy heady topper boy, and you're getting only 10oz or so of the good stuff. Piss beer? At $8 a pop? For 10oz? Eat my sphincter. The music quality itself isn't bad.. and there's no bottleneck when leaving, but it's just hard to recommend this place when it feels so blatantly gougy. If you can't afford rent, maybe.. close down? Or lower your drink prices so more people imbibe. read more

Went to see Sueco yesterday. The venue was decently easy to get to and there was a paid lot near by. Kind of pricey at $27 but it was pretty close. Venue was fairly clean and well designed. The bars were along the upper area ring and had a good selection of items. Had pretty close spot to the stage. This is definitely a close and personal type venue so it makes a more engaged feel with the band. I did feel one of the workers was picky about my purse and not some of the other girls but whatever ‍ It was what it was. It was a good time overall. read more

DJ ZHU! Intersection Lounge is a great venue for local concerts without feeling like a tiny box or outer space like Devos Performance Center. Came here with 4 of my girlfriends and danced the night away to DJ Zhu and his EDM beats and sulky guitar/saxophone musicians. Crowd here is pumping and young. Restrooms are adequate and not in complete sh!t condition. The staff is decent and didn't give us any trouble. However one bouncer did ask us if me and my Asian girl friends were "oriental" and "all related"...a bit ignorant and racist, but my friend quickly remedied the situation and enlightened him and he was receptive to cultural competent education. Otherwise, the dance floor was hot, sweaty bodies everywhere, typical bump 'n grind and stuffiness, A/V was excellent-- it was one kickass raving concert! Will be back for other concerts for sure ;) read more

Little tiny venue nothing impressive at all. We were in the same spot for 2 hours watching the "show" My wife was over served and needed to sit down for a minute to regroup.... There was an open seat that we both looked at for 2 hours 3 feet away from where we were.... Wide open for 2 hours... Apparently it was a "VIP CHAiR" she sat down and next thing you know we're escorted out... Didn't even get a chance to explain the situation to the lady or the "staff"... Do not support this venue. Racist, rude staff that assaulted me and threw me out for NO reason. I was taking a photo with some friends, drink in hand, and I was grabbed by an older woman who worked there. She said she didn't see my wristband to drink and started yelling at me. I had the wristband on, she just couldn't get her flashlight to work. I am 31 years old and rarely get carded, so being kicked out of a venue for "underage drinking" was a surprise to me and obviously makes no sense. Also they are racist and profiled my black friend. He was the opening performer and the staff would not allow him to park in the parking lot (other white performers were) or even allow us to give him water as he performed on a hot stage. The Intersection always does the job it needs to do! Recently I discovered, if there is a show going on up front at the stash then you need to walk to the north end of the building to go in the side door for the main room. This last time, we were able to snag a table off to the side and it was a great way to watch the show. We were able to get off our feet when we wanted, have a table to rest our drinks and get waited on. I would recommend trying to get there early and grabbing one of the tables if you don't want to bother trying to wiggle through people and weaving around the tall people to see a show. Our server was great, a little forgetful but she made up for it by comping a drink. You can also bring in food from the food trucks outside, which I did not know you could do. When you have the table it is almost like a complete dining experience with a live concert! I will definitely be trying to snag tables for future shows. read more

went to the Bass Country Halloween at The Intersection show 10/29 for Halloween and I had bought my tickets weeks in advanced. I and other people waited in a line for an hour. Had tickets and ID checked and then was denied entrance and was pushed around by security then was told to leave or everyone would get into trouble. I spent $100 on two tickets just to have waisted time and money. I asked the box office outside and denied a refund. read more

My wife and I bought VIP tickets to do a meet and greet with one of our favorite bands. Nothing was said about bags until we got through the line and to the door. We were hoping to put out stuff from the meet and greet in my wife's purse. The guy rolled his eyes and threw my wife's bag down by the door while we got tickets and he told us we had to put it back in the car before we could go in. So I went back to the car to drop off her bag and came back. We got back in and they gave us the VIP package (which included books, stickers, signed items, some shirts I bought, etc.) and I asked security as we got the items if we'd be able to return to our car so we didn't have to carry the items around the whole night. Two different times I was told yes, that we would be able to leave and come back as long as we had our pass. I told my wife she could stay and id run our stuff to the car. Upon trying to leave the head of security said we had to wait because they had already started letting the general admission people in. So a bunch of us had all this merch and VIP memorabilia sitting outside waiting to get through the barrier. We saw others coming back from their cars with VIP badges getting back in and the head of security was leaning on a barrier railing just chit chatting and do nothing productive, while we were told repeatedly we had to wait. 15-20min passed and the first band was getting on stage so I told the guy I didn't pay extra, and get here an hour and a half early to miss part of the show and walked out. He yelled there's no reentry as I walked past. I put the stuff in the car and tried to come back and the head of security called over a guy to stop me and he told me I was not allowed to reenter at this time. I told him I was given permission by the security inside the venue and several other VIP pass people were allowed back in and asked why I was being denied entry now. He rudely said they are an at-will venue and can deny entry to anyone. I said my wife is in there waiting for me and the show is starting. He said I'd have to go to the back of the line for general admission and hope they let me back in. I was upset but asked if I have to get back in line can I at least use the restroom first. He said why the hell would I let you do that. So I ended up going to a bar across the street to use the bathroom and then was walking back to the line outside the venue when he stopped again and said I could come back and let me in but if they heard anything bad about me they would drag me back out. I ended up missing the first song and half of the second of the 5 song set I came to see and spent the entire first set trying to find my wife. All of this because we could not have a bag for merch, nor could we return to the car to drop stuff off; despite spending extra money and getting there early and asking ahead multiple times if we could put our stuff in the car instead of having our hands full in a moshpit the entire show. The head of security has a ego power trip personality and lied and told the other security that I was cussing and making a scene while he stands around leaning on rails talking to people instead of being a decent person and do his job. Quite frankly not sure why he has that position. He kind of ruined most of the night for us for no apparent reason. The show was amazing and the security crew at the stage was awesome the head of security and the people at the door were rude, and have terrible communication skills. Would definitely not recommend doing VIP packages at this venue unless you want to be threatened by security and potentially banned from reentering. This was the worst experience in my life dealing with security at a show. read more

What a beautiful venue to catch a show! Last week a friend and I drove over 3 hours just to catch a show here. While he was here previously, this would be my first time at The Intersection. Getting to the venue was easy. It's located a mile off the freeway, in close proximity to Van Andel Arena and other restaurants/bars. Staff and security were awesome. Incredibly kind and welcoming! I never got the vibe that they didn't want to be there. One employee even made small talk with a bunch of us waiting outside for the doors to open. The rest of the show was lovely. The venue is set up easily and accessible. Sound was great and the stage is a great size. It was a packed house but the industrial feel of the venue still managed to give off a close and intimate vibe. I didn't partake in any drinking so I can't say anything about the bars (I believe there were 3 available) but the rest rooms were clean! I'm always weary of public rest rooms (especially those at concert venues) but they were taken care of. Awesome! The staff was incredibly accommodating during my entire stay and I would be more than willing to drive the extra few hours just to see a band or musician. My comment "don't use a card there I was double charged and can't get a response from them". So chad messaged me calling me a Karen and blocked me from their Facebook page. I went to this place a couple years ago to see Billy Corgan's now defunct band, Djali Zwan, and had an amazing time. We spent three days camped out in front of this place, and the staff was nothing but nice. They kept bringing us water and bumming us smokes. As for the venue, the sound was really great, though I can't comment on the lines of sight because we were right up front. The bouncers were really cool people, and if they still work there, tell your boss I said you need a fucking raise. If I'm ever in Grand Rapids again I will be stopping by here to see a show. read more

My sister, brother in law and I attended Traitors, Slite, acacia Strain and Chelsea Grin 11/7/19. Why would a venue host a Deathcore/hardcore show and kick people out for hardcore dancing? It is a part of this specific music scene. I asked the security why he threw my brother out, and he says "because he was flailing around like that." I stated that it is a part of this music scene, the pit was mostly people hardcore dancing and disagreed with him." To which he says, "do you want to join him?" So Mr authority complex man tried to eject me for a question. Security needs to learn that different things happen at different shows, and if they're going to kick people out for moshing a certain way, it should be made clear before hand. I will not ever make the trip to come back to this place due to your security and their power trip. read more

I've been to a lot of venues and this one ranks right in the middle. The staff at the entrance were friendly and efficient in wristbanding and checking IDs/tickets. I had a small backpack containing a water bottle but they didn't do a security check; however I did see a guy turned away later on in the evening who had a full-sized school backpack. Although some people were trying to smoke on the ramp leading up to the door, the staff shooed them away to the sidewalk. I really appreciated that so I could get some fresh air between bands. However, security was lacking in more ways than letting me by without checking my bag. There was some jerk near me obviously getting more and more drunk and threw two of his almost empty cans up into the air, spraying people in front of him with stale beer. No one came by for him. A little later a guy at the very front looked like he was going to faint and his (also very drunk) friend grabbed a security guard and brought him over to assess the situation. I am not sure why she didn't just take her friend aside instead of bringing a very tall man to the front in the middle of a concert.. After a long discussion, the tall guard thankfully left so I could see the show and nothing else was done. Security is very important at concerts, as well as cutting off customers when they have had enough. read more

This place gets worse and worse every time I return. I live in Chicago now, so when traveling back to Michigan for a show, The Intersection is geographically convenient....but that's about all it has going for it these days. The venue was run-down, the chairs were falling apart, service was poor, parking was bad, and to top it off, the staff members were rude. The venue had two "local" artists play before the ticketed acts, making the show last much longer than expected. The crowd was incredibly loud and rude during the final act (the one I traveled there to see) and the staff did nothing to help the situation. About 3 seconds after the final singer finished, a staff member was in the lounge screaming that everyone needed to "get out", leaving no time for guests to even consider buying merch. From the artist's perspective, things were poor. The list of invited guests wasn't available and the staff made no effort to locate it (I had to find one of the artists and have him "vouch" for me to gain entry). The soundcheck was pointless and required the artist leaving the stage and going to adjust the controls himself. Saying all this...I'd probably go to another show at The Intersection in the future....for the music, though, not for the venue. Just keep your expectations low and hope there's no jerk at the bar screaming at the top of his lungs over the singers. read more

I've been going to this venue since I was 14 and it used to be a favorite. I went to the mustard plug holiday show while visiting this December and both my friend and I had our drinks spiked. 1 shot and 2 PBRs should not make you incapable of walking/talking and passing out at the venue. Neither of us put our drinks down, nor do we remember anything after out first drink. I know someone else posted about their drinks getting spiked by a bartender, so apparently this isn't a one time thing. read more

Spent hundred of dollars to get in and to drink.. mid concert the guy in the front row turns around and throws his drink into the crowd directly in our faces.. we couldn't open them for over two minutes they were burning with tequila and lime juice. We had told the security he said they would escort them out, but did not. So, we went to the manager and he also did nothing. Such bullshit, minding our own business when a drunk guy ruins our night and gets to stay as we went home early soaked, sticky, and with burning eyes. Came here last weekend to see JJ Grey and Mofro. Show was solid. I thought everything on the venue end was solid as well. Coat check worked smoothly. Everyone was friendly enough. The bud light/miller light 16oz cans were $5.50. I felt like that was reasonable for a concert venue. Really liked the fact that there were essentially four bars: the large bar in the front of the venue where no ticket was needed to be, the main bar in the concert portion, and two smaller stations on the side of the concert area. It was really nice to not have to wait for drinks at all - that's my major gripe with most concert venues. We didn't get a table or know that you could reserve one, but I doubt we would've reserved anyway. The floor is concrete, so be prepared to wear comfortable shoes if you're going to have to stand all night. Bathrooms were pretty clean for the amount of traffic. All in all, I'd definitely see a show here again. read more

This venue is a nice place in the heart of Grand Rapids Michigan. Standing outside is kinda cold though because you are under a bridge. So bring a sweatshirt. I got there about 2 hours before the show and the line was only about ten people long then. They did let us in about 15 minutes later than scheduled but oh well. The guys stamped us M because we cant drink. And they scanned our tickets and we were in. There are some seating around but not much. Mostly kids parents sit there but its perfect for them. Getting close to the stage is so easy and the place sounds great. It took about ten minutes between set but thats fine because they play music from a radio to keep us entertained. The water there was $3 from what I remembered. Not too bad. After the show I was tired so I was sitting at a table for a few minutes then a guard told me to leave. Thats the only problem I had. I have only been to the Intersection twice, but I am definitely a fan. It's a large warehouse-like setting with a bar in the lounge area and a bar in the main stage area with 2 smaller bars on the side, but they don't seem to use those much. They also have tables and chairs set up in front of the bar and along the side walls if you want to sit and enjoy drinks before the show. The only bad side about this place is that they don't have their own parking lot. You have to search the streets or pay and park in the public lots. read more

The stage is small-- heck the whole place could probably fit in my apartment. Despite that, they manage to book really awesome artists, delivering to GR a dose of music much higher than most average American towns get. Every single band that makes it (and doesn't) plays here. read more

It's a great place to see your favorite bands and if its at the Stache it's a more up close and personal show however I got kicked in the face last weekend by some guy jumping off of the stage into the crowd but crazy is to be expected depending on who ya go see. It's a great small music venue and great for Grand Rapids. That being said, I have had 2 really snotty experiences with bartenders. Not busy nights, so it's not because they were overworked. I can't define it any better than "snotty". Also very expensive alcohol prices but what can you expect...I guess. Location is awesome! Parking is never a problem. The lounge is nice. For a concert I would really have to want to see the band since the accoustics are not that great. The view is good from almost anywhere though. Drink somewhere else before you go. Prices for drinks are really high. read more

I have been to the Intersection on many occasions. I always hope my favorite bands will play elsewhere. Every time I am there, it seems like the employees are very rude. I'm not sure why, but it's as if they are just waiting to start something with someone. Even when I asked a question about my concert ticket going in, I got a rude answer. I also think their drinks are overpriced compared to other bars. Pop is also overpriced for a small glass filled mostly with ice. And they don't give refills to designated drivers like most other bars. They claim that the water from the fountain is free. That may be true, but good service is priceless! Just saying... Oh and I'm sure they will counter my review, but that won't change the fact that their service is poor. You'll see what I mean if you go there. read more

Well we went to see Greta Van Fleet, had our Uber take us to the Tin Can across the street from the intersection. Tickets said doors opened at 7:30. There was a line down the block and it was 3 degrees outside. We were glad to wait a while and have a beer. At 7:30 we started watching out the window to see if the line had gone down.... kept checking... 8:30 still a line.... it moved SO ridiculously slow. By the time the line was finally down and we got in we missed the opening act. This place should figure out a different system for getting people in the door at a faster rate! Especially in the dead of winter! Once inside we were happy with our view and the place had decent bathrooms, etc. read more
